Well, it works swimingly on my desktop (which I just ordered a new 8800 Ultra 768 today) but I can't get past the logo screen on my laptop. Blame that squarly on drivers. Blame THAT on Nvidia for being so lazy in releasing good Mobile drivers. Their mobile drivers are usually 8mos+ older than their desktop updates.

I used to get my tweaked Forceware Drivers from www.tweaksrus.com but they are gone since they got hacked by some Danish porn site or whatever. www.laptopvideo2go.com doesn't have the 8600m listed on their latest .inf. So it looks like I will be playing it on my desktop only until Nvidia (or Asus) get off their asses. Something I am not expecting anytime soon.

"What is it I have against Microsoft, you ask? Well, you know how you feel when you wait for an MMO to come out and when it does you feel like you've paid to play it's beta test for another 6-9 months before anything even thinks of working the way it should? Being a network engineer you feel that way about anything Microsoft puts out."

I had a bitch of a time getting this demo to run smoothly in Vista.  Thankfully I run a dual-boot setup, and had the thing running like a dream in XP.   I kind of regret buying Vista Ultimate now, what a chump I am!

Without resorting to spoilers, I can say that the demo was very good.  The setting and storyline seem really fleshed out for what is really just a glorified first person shooter.  The ambience produced by the visuals and the sound is pretty much unrivaled in any game of this type.  However, it's still a first person shooter at the end of the day - some of the hype would lead you to believe it's something you've never seen before.

All of us have seen Bioshock's gameplay before, it's just been done in a slightly unusual way.  Of course, this is only the demo, I am certain I will only like it even more when I play through the whole thing.

I liked the demo so much I played through it two times in a row, and to my delight discovered a LOT of things I missed the first time around.  A sign of a great game.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
