Blizzards answer to increase level cap to keep player base happy is

WHen WOTLK is released levels 20-60 exp gains will be increased 30%, so exp from quest 20+ will yeild 30% more exp.

    Seems fair...

WoW is all about endgame... So if people arent max level, they arent happy. That's simple.

If they havent done that, the game would just be more crap... tbh i could actually see myself leveling from 1-80 just because they did that.

Strange.. i tought the best part about WoW wasn't end game but lvling up...

  • sctt888sctt888 Member Posts: 128

It is, but now that WoW is getting older, and most of the playerbase is reaching end game, new players and new alts dont wanna do the grind to all the way to 80, so blizzard is doing this to let players still enjoy WoW while not have to worry about still being to far behind everyone else. Very smart move by blizzard.

I think thats a good idea, we all know that 90% of the population will be in the expansion lands, thats why azeroth seems so empty because most are in outlands. the sooner a new player can get through the old content the better for them.... but on another note players will miss/skip a lot of the old content and might feel rushed to get to 60 and not soak up game.

As soon as WoTLK comes out TBC need to be free either bundled with the original WoW or the new WotLK expansion.

Yes, wow may be coming out with new expansions but its the same old thing over and over.. Get to max  level and raid raid raid.....Getting old dont you think?

That seems to imply that the rest of the game is crap...  I played most MMOs... i find it weird that i never cared lvl more then lvl 15 in wow and then quit (multiple times).

QFT. I like anyone else does not like the idea of leveling in an dead and empty game just to reach endgame where there are actually people around. This however is a very lazy way of achieving a solution tho.

I personally don't feel that leveling should be the most boring part...sadly it is

You all are a bunch of asses you will bash WoW for anything, WoW isnt a new game, many people making multiple alts seen the content over and over and over it doesnt remain fun, from 1-60 each time its played, WoWs 1-60 content is very fun, as it adds 10 levels to the game, players are finding it hard to catch up, well increased exp gains are helping that.

I guess they're not anticipating any new players with the next expansion...

This is not a good way of advancing your point below is how I would have said the same thing.

Its strange it seems that a lot of you responding to my topic are just flaming this idea without either.

    A. a detailed explanation why.

    B. A alternative solution to the leveling problem for newbies.

Now i do understand that with all the alts peple make doing the same levels again and again are not a lot of fun but you ahve to admit WoW's 1-60 NPC content IS a lot of fun. As WoW has just added another 10 levels to this the increased experience gains are helping in this area of WoW.

Maybee not how you did it but its a lot better presented.

Guild Wars for starters. I must say I am also quite enjoying Ryzom's newbie experience.

    EvE

You can take down vets in PvP and join in in the bigboys battles within 3 days to 2 weeks if you train up right.

Sorry for this, but you cannot say something bad about EVE, so I did it for you. ;)

and you obviously never understood how to play EVE.... shame really, you're missing out....

As to the original topic... sounds like a good plan by Blizzard. The other alternative though would be to release a new land that contained content for level 1-60 players..then people would have incentive to reroll a new character to play it....

They did chose the easy way though.....   as opposed to when DAOC released Shrouded Isles and we had new races, classes and new lands to explore for folks of every level.....

I also thought that leveling with the combination of PVP in WoW was fun...  I didn't like end game... end game was boring.

Looks like the easiest MMO on the market is going to be getting even easier.

  • nomadiannomadian Member Posts: 3,490

can see the reasoning, with now 10/20 extra levels since the game launched it is simply shortening that grind to the top. The problem though as I saw it is these lower levels you're basically having to solo, grouping is harder to find. Don't know what the answer is but its a bit lame having to solo all the way to the endgame.

  • Flyte27Flyte27 Member RarePosts: 4,574

I grouped with a lot of people during 1-60 in WoW when I played it.  I don't think I would want to group anymore then I did.  After a while people start to drive you crazy no matter what MMO you play unless they are your real life friends.  I did all the instances and small group content which was pretty enjoyable.  Even outside the instances I grouped up with other people who were on the same quests.  I'm not sure why you would want to group 24/7 anyway.  It's fun to solo about half the time at least for me.  I know everyone is different.

lol this is exactly the way I play eve as well.  :)  I came back recently, but after running some missions for a few days I got stuck waiting on skills and got pretty bored overall.  On the bright side, it's not really eve's fault.  I just don't have the time or inclination to join a corp, and obviously would get owned pvping by myself.

As for wow, good for them.  As others have said, leveling is the best part of wow for many people, but the 30% experience gain will help the game flow a bit smoother.  I always felt like it was a bit of a chore at times to level up, even though I more support games like Diablo 2 that had a large amount of levels, yet only the last 20% was hard to achieve (e.g. 1-80 easy, 81-99 not so much).

I still don't play wow, and I think its endgame completely blows, but for the people who still like wow, this is probably a good change.
