1) CoX -- best character creator and PVE combat of any MMO
2) Anarchy Online -- horrible launch but a truly innovative game that introduced quite a few gameplay and design mechanics that are now considered commonplace
3) SWG pre-NGE -- I didn't care for the combat at all, and it was missing both the "Star" and the "Wars", but the roleplaying and non-combat elements were fantastic.
1. FFXI - Played it for almost 2 years. Great game, good community and good classes to choose from. A huge grind to get to the top but well worth it.
2. Guild Wars - Yeah it doesn't have a persistent world but Guild Wars 2 is in the making. Great fun, by far the graphics in this game out does most any MMO on the market, the pvp is one of the best we have had in a long time, gameplay is good also. The pve portion lacks depth but it is still fun and has a great storyline.
3. I can pick and chose alot here but none match the amout of fun I have had with my number 1 and 2 choices.
Starsiege Tribes - The original was the best experience for me. The physics made the game. Sliding down hills, propelling yourself into the air with your disk-launcher, laser-sniping noobs halfway across the map. Insomniax base was the best mod imo, was popular for a while but faded out.
I completely agree with ya, tribes was by far a great experience, and is probably one of the most innovative FPS games of all time, and a great break from all the cookie cutter death match frag fests. A game where you actually had to aim your shots XD.
for me,
Tribes
Ultima Online
Anarchy Online
The first two pretty much set the standard for what I look for in a FPS/MMO games.
We're limiting this to multiplayer games, but not necessarily to massively multiplayer games? Very well.
Baldur's Gate II
EVE Online
Vanguard(Beta 2-3)
Though an easy 1 from me would have been cooperative multiplayer support in the Oblivion campaign. I've been longing for an open world RPG for LAN/TCP-IP play for years. Someone make it so!
Favorites: EQ, EVE | Playing: None. Mostly VR and strategy | Anticipating: CU, Pantheon
1. Tibia - I could give you a few hundred reasons of why this game is amazing. 2. Ultima Online - Enough said. 3. Lord of the Rings Online - Current best MMORPG out in my opinion.
I was totally addicted and loved this game. I played it way too much and had a lot of guilt over it, but my friends and I founded a guild, built a city, and fought against Rebel terrorism. And when I wasn't fighting, I was working on creature handler or crafting houses, furniture, etc. Sometimes my buddies and I were just hanging out in the cantinas clowning around or taking guildmates on safaris. Fun.
2) WOW
It's one of the places I ended up after SWG. It's a cool game, but I got bored with it. Still, I have to rank it as number 2 just because of the number of hours I logged into the game.
3) Star Trek Voyager Elite Force
The first pc fps game I ever played. I was addicted to this game very badly, sometimes logging 8 hours a day on my days off. It rocked. Now its dead though, and the sequel's multiplayer sucked. Rest in peace EF. My hands started to hurt after a few years of this, and as crazy as it sounds, my avatar wanted more than just to kill kill kill. So I transformed my EF avatar into an SWG avatar and fleshed out my digital alter ego.
~Everquest Online Adventures-My first and favorite MMO to date. It's is a really good game in my eyes.
~WoW-Brought me back into MMO's after my big break. If it wasn't for WoW I probably wouldn't be typing right now.
~EQ2-Hands down great game keeping me occupied forever.
There you go that's my list.

Since i'm not so old and havent been around in the so called ''Awesome'' MMORPG times this is my MMORPG list:
1. Guild Wars - Got this game by accident, i lost my pet and my dad wanted to cheer me up with something (I was young) then i went to Toys'R'Us and whoops, Guild Wars stood right in front of me, no monthly fees, looked awesome, couldent resist, here i sit 28 months after and i'm still playing it, but very little though.
2. Star Wars Galaxies - Just because i'm a big Star Wars fan, i did like the game, it wastent fantastic or anything, but it was Star Wars, sadly the worlds were empty and the lag was terrible ...
3. Lord Of The Rings Online/Dungeons & Dragons Online - Couldent decide here, someone will might get suprised by seeing me picking Dungeons & Dragons Online, maybe it was repeative and pretty limited game, but i actually liked that, then i dident have to worry about to many things, and the graphics & music was relaxing.
A bit weird list, but that is my choise
Dont know about singleplayer games and stuff, so many, cant decide

DAOC - My first MMO and the one I judge all others by.
COX - Fun and fast combat, great community and best toon creation screen.
WoW - The King of the MMOs, while it does have it's flaws and the end of the day it is a fun game.

Starcraft- LOVED PLAYING THAT GAME ONLINE
Half life- mods mods mods, there is something for everyone, mine was team fortress
WoW- while i hate it , i have fun with it.
Only because this site in infested with disenfranchised SWG - vets.
# 1- Dark Age of Camelot, All time favorite, best PvP, best community, would still play if there were more people. **** The REAL OG of PVP****
# 2- Guild Wars, Loved the squad based PvP, liked the enclosed pve, LOVED the storyline/lore. Great game overall.
# 3- World of Warcrack, very fun game overall, liked the PvP but got sick of it after a while, Capped in a month.....Raid/community killed it for me.
****DAOC FAN BOI FOR LIFE****
