*quote*"In April, President Hu Jintao launched a campaign to rid the Internet of "unhealthy" content and make it a platform for Communist Party doctrine."

3 days....in an internet cafe...wouldnt the owners/workers at the cafe tell him he has had enough?

i know my local cafe would...then again they dont stay open for 24/7

methinks China needs to restrict opening times or at the very least force closing times

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Great more weaklings making the government enforce laws against internet play time.  If that crap comes here i'll go nuts and make a civil war!

It doesn't speak to the quality of the game played.  The world record for loss of sleep is 11 days.  He likely died from heart failure compounded by prolonged lack of sleep over time, and not just this 3 day binge.

this shit is 90% bull and 10% wow i feel sorry when it does happen, but come on...

This is most def not something you want to use if your a "i hate games parent/person/politician/etc"  Its to .. plain.  Thats like saying "Man died of picking his nose for 3 days straight.  The cause of death is most likely due to the shit blocking his throat."

These are the stories you just hear about and try and forget, but still try and limit yourself because overplaying is just that..overplaying, and gets quite boring towards those 20+hours.  (UNLESS, your playing Team Fortress 2 , haha jk).

The real stories to worry about are the ones that deal with "MURDER".  Yes, Murder.  There are countless of stories, overseas, that deal with players getting beaten to death by groups of other players.  There was one story , maybe 3-4 years ago, that a boy of like 16 had Greifed and killed a party of 5 in a FFA/PVP game.  The 5 middle aged men found out where he was playing and went to the Lan Cafe.  They dragged him into the bathroom and beat him to death.     So yeah, like i said...those are the stories to read and watch out for, not this fucking bull about people dieing from exhaustion due to a game.  No, he died of exhaustion due to NOT SLEEPing.  The game was not the problem, it was some inbalance in his brain that told him im not tired.  Aka, Chronic Insomnia anyone?  ive stayed up for 42 hours watching TV / playing a console game due to having insomnia in in my highschool years.   Im almost positive if i added another 20 hours on there i would still be typing this message before i got to my next college class.

    Just a thought

    everything in life is dangerous.

everything fun make you want more and more.

so let me say to people that say bad about games: stop whining, and think before saying useless stuff

I wonder why this does not happen a lot more, if indeed is true.

When you play WOW 3 days its a walk in the park, RedBull should consider some promotions for harcore players.

I think the news is pretty real consider the way those net cafes operate in asia.

To keep their customers in the cafe, they provide

    1. unlimited drinks 2. food service 3. promotions such as 3 hrs get 1 hr free 4. living area with showers and sleep zone and 5. its 24/hr 7 days a week.

or they could just let you roll till your money runs out.

    Its China, anything is possible.

I've gone on major gaming sessions like that before, in WOW once, I was playing and all of a sudden this little pop up asked me if I wanted to take a break. I clicked "NO" and played on! I don't know how long i've played straight through though, cause I DO take little breaks in between, for food, washroom, and what not. *shrugs* I'm still alive, so that's a good thing.

I've done pretty much the same, and I found it seriously hard not to notice when i was hungry, thirsty, when I had to go to the toilet. Seriously, 3 days knocked me out. Afterwards I slept for little over 14 hours. I don't understand how one can just -not- fall asleep. Sure, there's apnoea (I think thats what its called), but it would've been in his medical card methinks. He was just one insane guy, which puts another black mark on being a "Gamer". And a big fat black mark on WoW, if that's what he was playing.

To put it in perspective, theres a story about a kid/guy/person not sure what age, that played all night for a particular set of armor to drop or something, on some game, can't remember which one. Anyways he played all night, got into a group and sure enough when the items dropped he lost the roll. The player wouldn't give him the piece so according to the story I was told the guy committed suicide.  I mean people are crazy. And I doubt that story is true, but when you seriously put yourself at risk for a game it's time to seek serious help.

Ultimately thats what this boils down to. You may as well just consider he shot himself in the head rather then died of exhaustion.  He actively chose to kill/hurt himself, so really they have noone to blame but themselves.  Don't blame a video game.

I've been playing in this reality game world called,"Life" for 42 years.

Maybe i need to take a break, a couple of hours per day maybe?

I hear that if one dosn't take a regular breaks, every now and then, bad things could happen.

    what do u all think?

Don't get me wrong, I like a game with a challenge, but common, this life game you're playing is ridiculous, and where is the end-game? The only "end-game" I can think of is being dead, and I never really liked the sound of dying. In game. . .or out of it. hehehe!

I remember something similar to this a few years ago where, in south east asia, a man in an internet cafe collapsed and (I think) later died.... Cause of death Starcraft, which apparently was pretty huge out there for a while. Strange that this has now happened again and I'm reminded of the Grant/Naylor - Red Dwarf, a series of funny sci-fi stories, one of which the characters get trapped inside a virtual reality game called 'better than life' their real life bodies dying in real life. Apparently to die from gaming it doesn't have to be 'better than life'
