I don't want a battle. The WoW players can have there WoW, and all of us looking for a good MMO can have AoC. OK, we don't know AoC will turn out yet. Maybe the devs are making it more "WoWish" right now.
And all people that want to have fun and true challenging combat can have TCoS. TCoS is the true mix between FPS and MMO, FPS mechanisme takes care of the aiming, while an MMORPG mechanisme takes care of the damage.
Or tCoS really is the alternative to T.B., isn't Huxley supposed to be a blend of FPS and MMO?
I hope tCoS when it comes out offers something new to the genre, it looks alright so far! I hyped it an 8 from what i've seen.
Well aren't you generous (No Sarcasm). Now the rest of this doesn't really concern you. TCoS has interested me about as much and a second course when I've already had enough. It's intrigued me enough to glance over it, give it a quick sniff, and decide that I'd be better off without it. From the www.MMORPG.com's overview points, I don't see to much that I like.
Dress to impress: From day 1 you will be able to look cool by choosing and changing clothes, armors, weapons, skills.
Really? This I don't like at all. All style no substance.
Influencing the world with your actions: This ranges from lifelike statues of your character in Quarterstone to unlocking and owning new parts of the worlds through questing, politics and conquest.
Sounds good, but I doubt that this can be done as well as the devs hope. The statues I mean. Unlocking new parts of the world I don't like one bit. Politics sounds good though.
‘Join and play’, you don’t have to walk whole marathons before the fun starts.
Can't name a single game that I've played where you have to do any real work before you get to do stuff. Nothing to see folks.
‘The Chronicles of Spellborn’ combat system based on skill decks. You will be able to create your own individual fighting style.
This sounds good, possibly. Depending on how they do it.
If it were by the MMORPG.com hype list, I'd give it a 6-7 but on the grand scale of where I think the games should be, it's be a 7-8 leaning on a 7.
Maybe you ought to give it some more attention, and read some more about it. You ought to see the true greatness of the game as it goes live.
* Dress to impress also means that stats are not bound to the items, but to the Sigils, which lets you choose freely which armor piece <looks> to combine with your best sigils<stats> its like socket items.. So at high level if you want to look different then the rest, you can.
I like to be able to tell who I'm fighting from the way they look. It should be logical the way you dress. I should also be able to tell a little bit about you based on your equipment selection. I'm not in favor.
* I am critical to teh influencing the world part too, I can't reallysay if i will like thsi system untill i experience it. ((But even the best games can't have everything))
Sounds good but this is a leap and a bound instead of a little step. I'm worrying if AoC will be able to pull off border kingdoms. I doubt they'll be able to do this to it's full extent.
* Join and play comes from the time of the Vanguard release, where it took me over 30 to 40 minutes to reach a party of friends.
This doesn't affect me because I group with people that are close and or doing what I'm doing already. I usually have more fun exploring than grinding as well, so this is a possible downside.
*The combat system (spelldecks) is what makes this game so speciall in the first place... You do the aiming choose from your available actions adn then teh RPG system does rhe damage calculations. It should be a great system, with Chians and reactionalls too.
Just sounds like a regular MMO to me but with aiming. Pick a combat system, aim and attack. This makes virtually no difference that I can see from here.
But then i hope that you get a chance to play this game (Open beta test comming up) so the actuall gameplay may convince you of its greatness.
Its nice to see someone back up his opinion with some facts...
Just a quick up of my opinion before I read it tomorrow.
There is no competition between WoW, Aoc or War for that matter. WOW is just too big at this point. Its like a 3 headed monster, you keep chopping the heads off but they keep growing back. Aoc and War are merely infants in the mmo market.
ofcourse Aoc going to win, Warhammer is just another same old mmo. but warhammer might win cause alot people wont have the system requirements for aoc.
Lots of AoC haters that should have stayed in their WAR message boards.
I called Warhammer WoW2, and that seems to have pissed some people off.
But how could you say that they are nothing alike when the race choices are nearly exactly the same, they both have the cartoony graphics, given WAR has much better cartoony graphics, but given it was made 3 or 4 years after WoW, you could expect that. And the fact that they are both going to have similar ESRB ratings and are advertising to the same group.
Yeah, they sound nothing alike all right.
And your big ace in the hole is that WAR is PVP based.
WoW is PVE based, but last I checked, you can only PVP and have on par or better gear than raiders.
Another thing to consider is taht maybe I didn't use WoW2 as an insult.
Apparently, if you were aware of it, WoW has the most subs of any game ever. So maybe the WAR crowd should start taking WoW2 as a compliment. Or just stay in your forums.
Well im sorry even though im sure and 100% positive AoC is going to be better then WoW the fact remains that with all the subs WoW has AoC wont stand a chance. One the Asian community the biggest fan base for WoW wont come to AoC. Just like Halo 3 wasn't important to them AoC wont be. AoC is a real game no cartoon characters and if AoC wants to dominate over WoW it would have to appeal to the asians and it doesnt.

The game doesn't have to have massive subs to be a success. Best games are often marked on quality and staying power. It not about "wont stand a chance" alot of people prefer AoC if it was a niche type game with traditional mmorpg elements.

Exactly my thoughts... you don't need 8 million subs to be a success. I would prefer if AoC didn't turn into that personally.
I wish people would get over these "X vs. Y BATTLE ZOMG!" posts/discussions. Personally I think they're completely useless, and rather inane.
The market is big enough for both games.
There's what, like 30+ MMOs just over on that list to the left that all still seem to be making money. No one MMO will kill another, that's just not the way the market works. People need to start realizing that. WoW is the most popular game out there, but it didn't kill Everquest, the same way Everquest didn't kill UO.
Only a game's community and devs can kill it.
Look at any MMO that has gone under and you'll easily see that it was because of either a bad community, or a direct result of the developers. People tried to make it out like Lotro was going to have a big showdown with WoW, except now both are happily making money in their part of the market.
When AoC comes out, it will have it's fans and people who play the game. If it's good, it'll do well. It WON'T signifigantly alter the subscriber base for WoW because people who like wow, like it for different reasons than someone would like AoC.

I was on the WoW forums reading alot about the new Expansion(Rise of the Litch king). Blizzard apparently is releasing the expansion to battle the rising hype of AoC. WoW is getting old and dated, so they needed to keep their audience. Hands down AoC is prolly gonna be the biggest MMO of 08 because of its revolutionary style of gameplay, and awsome PvP system. I have already payed my $50 for when it comes out i will be one of the first people on the servers.
I think it must be wow vs war.
War is more likely wow (or at least remembers me a bit more than aoc). The audience of WoW will not go to AoC, so I dont find there will be any competition.
Other way, I think war will provide enough (or at least hope so) content and then must be no battle in front wow. Im a wow hatter, but, its true it gots a great audience, and people is paying an important money for sad expansions (better expansions are gived for free in L2 or CoX just for the month fee).
So if people is paying fee, plus the expansion its must be cause are enjoying the game, perhaps, or perhaps they dont know anything else, or perhaps the population on the game is too big so there is lot of real life friends there, or perhaps blizzard do vodoo to get the people there with contentless game ... who knows. But in one side, aoc will not have the same audience, war, that perhaps can drain some from wow, got his owns "fans", but, if we take in account what I said (a.- People enjoys wow b.-people dont know anything else) the thing will remain in wow...
When it comes to AoC and WAR, the thing I'm going to do is wait 2-3 months after the games are released, to hear what people think about the released version. AoC, I really don't care about the gore and I hope they aren't making that one of the focus points, of the game. To play a game just to see a lot of blood splattered all over the place isn't appealling, IMO. I'm just going to keep watching clips of the games, until they are released.
I honestly don't think AoC will have alot of customers at launch. AoC requires to have a beefy PC and alot of people just don't have the spare cash to drop $2000 to BUILD a new computer (buying a premade pc is for noobs!). High end PC + Mature rating will likely have some of the younger crowd lean towards War or WoW expansion.
I think AoC will be like AC2 but with a proper release. Probobly not the best comparison but in my opinion, If AC2 had a proper release... I honestly think DAoC would not have been the cult classic of a game it is today.

The Navy built me two computers that would demolish AoC, But I do agree. Most people cant afford it.
I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.
Ok, man....with threads like these, many don't sound like gamers at all. Sounds more like fanboi politics. WASN'T THERE EVER A TIME WHEN YOU WANTED TO PLAY EVERYGAME EVER MADE. I know as a self proclaimed gamer that I am this way. While I may not be able to afford it and have probably missed out on some very good games...I am still going to try.
It's not boxing, or a what if comic. The illusionary battles are for the birds. If your excited about a game fine, but you probably shouldn't bash other similar games at all especially if you haven't tried them at all.
As Far as what type of people play WoW and or will be moving to what game in the future....lol. Like a WoW player is that much different than your elitist ass. I play WoW, so what? I am looking forward to AoC, so what? I play Guild Wars, so what? I play L2, so what? I play EQ2, so what? I got 3 computers, 3 consoles in my home and a plethora of video games. Why? Cause I like all that video games have to offer.
So I may not stick around a particular game for long, that would just have to be a lost of interest type thing. But to say who or what type of player is going to be moving where is so blanket. Try speaking for yourself and where YOU will be going next. Stop with the presumed generalizations.
Another thing Age of Conan has going for it and I`m nto sure if it will be good or bad but I`m lookign forward to checking it out and really hope they have a trial for it first is that it will be also out on xbox 360 and since I don`t want to upgrade my computer playing AOC on my 46 inch HD TV sounds freaking awesome.
I think it will be more of a battle with all the rest of the MMO's coming out soon and in the near future than with WoW. Personally I can care less which game will attract more. I rather have a more mature tight knitted smaller community than to have a community like WoW.

I will agree in principle, but the problem with going with the 360 route is the extra wait. The xbox version isn't going to be coming out for 9-12 months after the PC release.

Mythic > Funcom > Blizzard
Especially with MMO PvP Experience.
And which experiencess do you base this bland statement on?
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
