In such awe of this game... single best looking MMO on the horizon... WAR is supposed to be a big deal but it's a cartoon piece of childsplay **** compared to this... as is every other MMO currently out.  Watched this vid and just.. wow I envy those in beta!  This game looks like it can bring some true adventure and a really immersive feel...

The music at the start is from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpiIP-mrdYE&mode=related&search= but I cut the lyrics out and the rest is from The Last of the Mohicans :P I was kinda ruff with the music editing in this one haha.

All I need now is some nice PvP "Official" footage instead of "third hand" shaky media from conventions.

With this video my main aim was to try and show of the scenery / environment and how it it looks!

Good job with video editing, you get a gold star(not sarcastic btw). When I talk about the video further I am not accusing you of doing anything shady, rather the people that put out the footage for you to put together.

Honestly I wouldn't judge anything on this "movie" because that is exactly what it is at this point a movie. Using editing, pre-rendering,  super high end machines, etc they can make just about anything look good...go look at darkfall.  Honestly hough Huxley has a much better jaw dropping look imo, but that is just me.

I will admit the environments look awesome IF and that is a big if that is how they appear in the game. I noticed that when it got to  the snippet of gameplay footage where they big brawl with archers on the tower the quality of the environment is downright awful compared to the previous shots. Also I have never liked the character models of AoC one bit, they seriously need to spend more time on those than environments imo.

As for judging a book by its cover you might want to delve a bit deeper before claiming anything as a winner. If you were to look at actual beta gameplay footage you would see a host of gamebreaking bugs.  At least WAR can claim that it has a working basic system under its hood reguardless of how you feel about its artstyle. BTW how the heck is WAR Cartoony? I never understood this. Cartoons are more solid colors and almost no shading yet WAR is anything but. Look at humans and chaos...they hardly seem cartoony to me but hey to each their own.

I am not saying AoC is a horrible game I am saying that it's looks are far better than it's gameplay at this point in time. Hopefully they take the delay and fix the big issues. Sorry but I will take average graphics and good gameplay over awesome graphics and horrid gameplay any day no matter what the games title or what game I have set my sights on. I really want AoC to succeed because the MMO market needs more variety. The PvErs also need a place to go to do more 25 man raids anyways (parting shot ftw!).

I doesn't almost care what you think about the AoC gaphics...its one of the best photo realistic MMOs we will see in the near future.

A brilliant job indeed almost makes me wanna get it... too bad I'm already subscribed to another MMO and can't really afford a new one as I await BioWare to finally reveal their big secret MMO in the works.... if the BioWare one ends up looking like something I'm not interested in, I think I will really look a lot more into AoC.  Looks pretty brilliant and could get a lot better -- Hope they add sailing since I don't believe it will have flying mounts... not sure how the world of conan lends itself to flying mounts but Sailing is a must!

Distaste is of course entitled to his opinion just like I am to mine. I do however think he's in a professional minority considering all the pre-release accolades Funcom has received for Age of Conan so far. Take a look at www.ageofconan.com for an overview yourself.

I'm not saying we shouldn't be vary of hype or crown a game before we've actually had the chance to see it for ourself, but we shouldn't underrate it either based on the same argument. I hardly doubt you got anything but rumours and personal bias to base your opinion on, as I do with mine. I'm not a beta-tester or anything so I have to lean on other peoples opinions, that is testers, magazines, industry geeks and other pre-release candidates. As it stand at the moment there's actually more evidence that AoC will be a great game - based upon all the best of E3 awards and previews among many others - than vice versa.

I'm not just hoping this game will be great success. I solemly think the entire industry will be better off if it is based on all the innovatve designs. Lots of MMO's coming out these days, but most are tragically similar to each other.

On a personal note I'm also quite psyched about Huxley. Sounds highly innovative and appears to me to be a breath of fresh air into the MMO-industry.

Oh and OP, I wouldn't worry about Biowares MMOG meaning you can't play AoC's unless it sucks. Knowing Bioware it won't come out for another 2 years after they announce it, and they probably won't announce it until the summer convention circuit next year. Though I'll personally be steamed if they don't also cover Dragon Age then as well. Frankly I'm kinda pissed at bioware right now anyway lol, check out my tirade here;

Yeah lol I saw... BioWare seems to just LOVE their secrecy... Dragon Age WHAT? Is the game even real? You know what I mean? We've seen some art and a bit more... nothing much at all... I don't know or care about DA that much... I have high hopes for the MMO and I really really hope MASS EFFECT is eventually transferred to PC.

Even though Mass Effect is pretty much Majesco's ADVENT RISING done right/on staeroids it looks great.

BioWare's still my fave gaming company for sure... but I totally understand what you mean about feeling 'left behind' by them.  For now... I still hold my hope for a bright future from BioWare.

But yea, Bioware is a very strong second. I think Mass Effect will make it's way to the PC, even if we have to wait 2 years like we did with Jade Empire, which I loved despite being their shortest and most linear game ever. I hope that Dragon Age is real, and that they have been working for the past 4+ years making a game that, once announced, will be a 'killer app' like Mass Effect appears to be. As to their MMOG, we know it's their own IP, so sorry but it's not KotOR based. But I'd love if it were Mass Effect based.

I really wish there was a proper Star Wars MMO cuz lets face it, SWG sucks big floppy donkey balls because it's not truly star wars at all :  and a company like bioware that cares about it's products could do an awesome job of it, but I would be VERY happy if it were a MASS EFFECT mmo too

AoC Models cartoonish? 0.o Bear in mind that the footage for that video is taken from as far back as 2 odd years ago. Some is fairly recent though. Like all games, the graphics 'evolve' and improved over that time.
 
And yea, everyone can ride a horse (or a camel, or a mammoth, or a rhino,) and use weapons on them.

I am going for a Rhino; once your tried it you will never want anything else:)

 

oh yea nice video. I am just getting my spirit back on after the delay message: hopefully funcom will use the time to make the game even better. I really really hope they will make the game they have promised.

Personally think this is great! looking at this and others mmos (war, chronicles, hellgate, etc...) think the visuals of this games are the best of all!

You will notice none of the characters on the screen during that big brawl have proper lighting. Im not a technical guy whatsoever but it looks to me that it may have been just that, proper lighting. Some of the clips especially the one with the guy on the top of the hill looks incredible due to his lighting but there isnt any proper shading or lighting on the brawl. Just my 2 cents.

     I see the same problems I always have. The models and the animation is subpar still. This close to launch or planned launch that is scary. I have watched the development of warhammer and Conan. I have not given up on Conan but I do have some reservations. They seem to be unable to give a finished look to there product.The game machanics I am not sure of as I am guilty of not reading enough to know. I did play Daoc so I know that Mythic does have a good understanding of pvp and funcom  was supposed to have good pvp in their game once the issues were fixed.

 

   I am not bashing Conan but I am worried also as Funcom initial release of their other mmo could only be desribed as a disaster. I know because I participated in it. Mythic's went off smooth as silk. I am hopeful Conan overcomes these issues but am warning all of you to be aware of the latter issue. The game has potential if it is stable, graphics improved and the pvp system is integrated. I guess we will all find out next year. I will continue to watch from afar in hopes that it lives up to its potential. Good luck to all of you are so eagerly awaiting it. I do have some reservations on Warhammer as well but this is not the Warhammer forums.
