A sci-fi mmo that could be good? Awesome! I haven't played one I felt was good since AO, man I can't wait for this game!
Now - 3/10
Only even gets a 3 because it is pretty fun for the first hour, then it goes down hill very fast. You realize your killing a bunch of the same crap over and over... and over and over... and over again. Oh, and everyone looks the same.
This game will be a failure, so shocking... another failure by a PlayNC published game. .. Shocking. Glad I didn't waste any money on it.
Well, I've not played it...but I must say reading the many negative posts vs the few positive ones on this and several other threads has my own hype meter way down...3/10 at best..... probably will just stick with EVE for my Sci-fi gaming until WAR/AOC come out and drag be back to the fantasy genre.

With the bar being set higher and higher for mmo's a new game must be able to grab you by the balls and slap you around the face with a wet haddock shouting play me damnit, play me!
But after playing it I am afraid this game just didn't tickle my fancy.
My score has gone up abit as i have been playing TB again since open beta, and must say i'm enjoying myself. BUT.......there is a big BUT......i'm enjoying myself solo, only lvl 6 so still lots of grounds to cover. In most mmo's i tend to be solo anyway till lvl 10/20 to get a good feel of a game and its feature's. I found the feature's becoming more and more intresting as i play along. But there is a sort of confusion atleast from my part and thats to reconize NPC's and PC's, i often spot a group walk up to them but the seem to be NPC's. I' ve also notice'd not many seem to care to look unique as i saw many grey looking players running around, and yes my red/blue suite did atract attention in the colour mix of grey armors
Graphics: at first i thought they looked abit dated, but getting deeper ( yes even at lvl 6 ) the graphics actualy look pretty good. The imperial compount has a great story line you get involved with, but overall the feel i have of the game is still far to easy. It's even easy'r to not use your gun but simply melee your target with your gun. That will safe your bullits and will take most enemy's down quiker then shooting them as the game really needs allot more balance . As i notice'd i take lvl 10/14 down quicker (melee) then i take down mobs lvl 6/8 with my gun shooting them.
The first time i felt the area's where pretty cramped together but think lots of area's where still closed when i tried it the first time. I still don't really like the borders we see with some forrest that simply look awefull to see a forrest and not be able to walk into it but walk into a blind wall. But overall the look is pretty decent.
To understand the game should go live next month would be in my opinion to early as for me it looks like the game should need another 2/3 months before releasing it.
To have he name MMORPG for now is to much for TB, a MMO, maybe, but i will comment that when i reach higher lvl's and hopefully feel some sort of forced grouping because of challenges that lay ahead. As for now i have taken the imp compount solo, which i feel should not be the case, futher more i did it mostly melee with me hitting the mobs (exploit :P meh) well i bumped on it by excident as i was out of bullits, but didn't think it would be quicker to melee them down then shoot them down with my gun/shotgun/rifle.
Overall the game is MORE then just a shooter, it has both elements of mmo playstyle and fps, but for now it doesn't feel as much of a mmoRPG as it tries to be. Hopefully that will come in time, atleast thats what i hope for those going to sub to TB
For now its a enjoyeble game, but not a game i would leave another game for at this point. But will continue playing the open beta and maybe the game can grown on my, but so far the fun i have with it isn't the fun i would really like coming from a mmorpg. But maybe it will change when i see more then a place holder for crafting and when crafitng is better implemented. As thats what i like about MMORPG, being able to build items in the game and its community( worthwhile items afcourse), thou i'm wondering if the crafting system is setup for the community or will it be more of a i craft my own gear sort of thing.

Who brought this startroopers enemy to this planet
Great story, fun game play, fun instances. I view it as a mmo-light fps-rgp and very casual friendly. If your expecting a grind, raid game with the standard tank, healer, dps model, you will be disappointed.
I score it a 7.0. Once they add PvP and continue to patch I expect it to improve and become a great game.
I like to think I'm one of the biggest RG fanboi's.. one could possibly be. This most likely like all thoughts isn't exactly accurate. However, lets just say Origin Systems brought me more fun "back in the day" than probably any other company. I don't really like the "fanboi" phenom either but.. anyway.. I got into the TR beta quite a while ago. Of course we couldn't talk about it then... My "hype meter" was beyond the max ... after I was in the beta a while.. my hype meter died. Of course some of my view was tainted by another source.. so my hype probably died faster than it had to. I start off doing quests..etc... I kill something and it drops... a can of paint. Hmm.. wow when I played Auto Assault stuff dropped cans of paint.. Then I start blasting away at a large amount of enemies... up pops more or less.. "bonus xp 2x... 3x... blah blah" I'm like damn.. just like Auto Assault. Pretty much... correct or not.. I quickly began to feel.. I was playing the "out of the car" version of Auto Assault. Now with me I personally liked Auto Assault.. but not as an MMO. I'd think.. you know as a console.. single player or network game this would be awesome. I pretty quickly felt the same way about TR. So I don't feel that RG is pushing out a bad product... just not something that will make it on the MMO market. Just like with AA... I think TR would be a great console, single player (pc) or network (pc/console) type game. Its just not a "oh hey I'll pay 15 bux a month for this" type of game... imho.
I got into the beta in May, and that is EXACTLY what I thought,. I was very surprised how it was, considering what a hit Auto Assault became

"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
actually i was really disappointed. my hype meter before beata was 9.0/10.0 after playing it, it is just 4.0/10.0
so, what's your opinion about this ?
I'm liking it so far. At first I was unimpressed but now that things are moving along I'm liking it.
It's not, however, ready for prime time. It's got a really bad memory leak. After playing for a while, I can no longer switch weapons which has gotten me killed a few times. If they release it like this I'm not subscribing. The frustration will kill any fun factor for me. I have 2GB of memory and this game ends up eating 1GB+ before it finally tanks and I can no longer function in it, needing to relog and kill the game to get it to work right again.
I have invested several hours into this game, playing from the aspect of a "Tester" as well as from that of a "Player" and I have been a little disappointed, to be honest. The game is alright, it has a good bit of POTENTIAL, but as it stands, I would not pay a monthly fee to play this game. Perhaps F2P I would play, but not as a continual money sink... which is essentially what it would be.
That said, I do intend to continue playing. There are aspects of the game I have yet to experiment with, including any true grouping dynamic. I will withhold any final judgement of the game until I have experienced more that it has to offer. I just hope it does have a lot more to offer.
It's not NcSoft that wants this game released in October, it's Lord British himself. He needs money for his space ticket. NcSoft will have invested nearly $100M and nearly eight years in the Garriott brothers and this game. I don't think you can call that stingy and impatient--but likely the NcSoft was foolish and will take a disastrous hit while RG is joyriding in low earth orbit.
Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you can walk.
6/10, it's not a bad game, but it's not very good either, and with the crafting system, the bugs, all the placeholders, the serious class imbalances, and that patch that was supposed to make the game harder but just made mechanical creatures a serious pain to kill and simultaneously broke the servers for that 3-4 days i'd actually consider it to be below average, but only a bit for pre-release jitters, I guess. It'd be getting a 3 if I was paying $15 for it, I really don't understand why they'd do such a long "open" beta and kill the hype on their own unless they really didn't know their game was in this bad of a state.
Comments
if you like it, good for you. I don't, and if I can keep one person from wasting their money on this POS, so much the better.
It *was* a great game, prior to the 7/3 patch, it's gone progressivly downhill since then, and right now it's ungelaublicht
If you think it's worth paying for, good for you and go for it. I don't, and I'm happy to let everyone know it and why
3/10
....... Must I state the reasons...?
Played almost everything...
Currently playing nothing...
Waiting for: Darkfall, WAR, Guild Wars 2.
There's no kill-o-meter, but I'd bet I was up to about 1k thrax dead by the time I was wrapping up the other wilderness quests.

I'll admit I haven't played the beta in months, but you can only polish a turd so much before you flush it (out the door).

So I shall rate it a disapointing 4/10
Was a Garriott fan in the day. I WANTED to like this game....but each time I go back to the beta I just go.....bleh
He has lost the touch it seems.

Before playing beta, I had it hyped at a 7.0.
After playing it, I dropped that to a 5.0, but I'm being kinda generous with the 5.
I won't be buying this game. Its not horrible, just there are better games already out and coming out.

Mh, somehow I saw it coming like this... I'm feeling honestly sorry for Garriot, doubt that he could be happy with such a result.
But who knows, maybe he can convince the people over at NCsoft to grant more developement time. Crossing my fingers.

It's kind of funny reading through this post and then remembering the exact same things that were said on the forums before Auto Assault was released.
As already stated. TR = AA on foot.
