Not at all. FFXI is out for PS2 and other MMORPGs, such as Phantasy Star Universe are coming out for other consoles in the future. I think this makes this topic more relevant now then it has ever been before.

The poll that someone here made is irrelevant because my original post was referring to the NEXT_GEN consoles....I still love my xbox though...especially KOTOR and Morrowind (just purchased)....Xaldor
Comparing PCs and Consoles is like apples and oranges. Two totally different beast. This debate has been going on for years and both have their strong and weak points.
Now let's take this one step closer and use something we can all relate to: Sex. Here a lil story I'd like to tell ya.
Erica Z. Peace(PC) and Iris C. Nohpus(Console) grew up together in the same neighborhood(US market). Now Ms. Peace and Ms. Nohpus were best friends of sorts but had a sort of rivalry going on. You see, Erica was an early developer and poor Iris was a very, very late bloomer. Now in the early days this was quite an advantage as to all the boys(Gamers) flocked to Erica in the hopes to score(shameless pun). She had the good looks(graphics) and was fairly smart. Iris on the other hand was extremely smart(Gameplay), but lacked the looks. While Erica basked in her glory, Iris had slowly started developing in her own(Improved Graphics).
Erica, noticing this threat began to do a little research and found out that guys really go ga-ga for making out(Internet) and when she made herself available, her fan base grew. Iris on the other hand tried it out too. But was met with disappointment after disappointment(Stupid Sega channel). She just could not get it right. As the years passed both girls where about equal in looks(Graphics) now. Iris had a natural beauty that came with age(Better with each console), while Erica kept her edge with make-up(expensive upgrades). So the line between them was blurring fast. Seems that some guys will still date a girl as long as she is good looking.
This worried Erica to no end. How can she keep outpacing ol Iris? Then it hit her like a bolt! Maybe just maybe she would try something even more daring. SEX! (MMO's) Well needless to say Erica took to sex like a fish to water. And when the word spread of her willingness to go "all the way", her popularity skyrocketed! Iris was reluctant to try this(Stupid Gamecube), recalling her earlier attempts at making out(PSO). But she eventually did and was again met with dissapointment(EQOA). She just wasn't as good as Erica was at it.
Now this didn't stop the guys from trying(FFXI)...eh heh....horny bastards aren't they? And she hopes one day a guy can come along and really teach her something(A really, really good US MMO), but until then we always have Erica!
PS How many of you guys caught on the the names? Take the First and middle initial and say them with the last name....eh heh.

Oh brother so that makes 3 MMORPG's on console? Wow. How many does the PC have? 50? 75? Sorry but consoles are not even close, not to mention MMORPG's suck on console systems.

Ramadin you're missing the point...I am talking about NEXT GEN consoles....XBOX2(or XBOX NEXT) and PS3.
If you don't think that the MMORPG developers are going to make games for NEXT-GEN consoles, than you need to open up your eyes. The PS2 has sold millions upon millions of consoles (70 million i think but don't quote me on it) and the Xbox is starting to sell a crap load. Developers ie...huge corporations.. know that there is mad loot to be made with monthly subscriptions for MMORPG's...and the NEXT-GEN consoles are going to have a mouse and a kb. So IMHO ALL future MMORPG's will be played on consoles and PC's....Xaldor
Of course headsets will be the norm...but most PC players HAVE to play a game with the kb mouse configuration, thus there will be a kb and mouse option for consoles...Xaldor
I can certainly say I am looking forward to see what the next..next gen consoles have for MMORPG gamers, especially if they'll use a keyboard and mouse, feels just like home. ANd if I can play them on HDTV rather than a 17" flatscreen monitor, all the better!
Then again I know to never (EVER) trust hardware companies until you really tried what they're packing. So I guess I need to wait and see what they actually have. Until then, I'm sticking with my PC. *hugs PC*
This is kinda off topic but does anyone remember when people with relations to Iraq tried to buy 200 PS2 when they came out? they couldnt(thank god) so they had to settle for regular playstations. They tried to buy them for there computer chips for which they would insert them into there crappy outdated fighter jets

I am an XBox fan, but I have to say I can't let this go by...
The XBox has not outsold the PS2. Not a chance, maybe last month, but no way in total units sold...
The XBox is a more powerful machine, but the PS2 has a better game selection if you need the variety...
I am just waiting to see how Round 2 goes ie. XBox 2 vs. PS3.
HI, Well my thoughts on this topic is that PC, and console... Well the only reason why we have PC's in the first place is we like the freedom to configure what we like. PC's are for people that like to fiddle around with things, consoles are for people that just dont want the hassle. Now dont get me wrong I like both but like I said when i'm tired and dont want the hassle I go play my PS2 dont have to wait for no Windows to load and dont have to run nothing, just pop the game in and VIOLA!!! but most of the time I play PC games because I like to configure games to my liking, like chage resolutions, have 5 point surround sound or chaange that to headphoens, stuff like that... Well these are just my thoughts. Have fun everyone.
I agree, I have a top o the line PC and I have an XBox. When you just want to sit and play a game with no hassles, or play some multi-player mayhem with friends, you go to the console.
By the way, my XBox sounds awesome in 5.1 and looks great on my HDTV. And the 56" screen makes those 4 player split screen games playable!

No keyboard, Headset with realtime voice comms and a good voice to text system... That is where it is at.
