So by that very same logic lets look at the vanguard forums. Lots of people posting they are buying or trying out the game since its launch. Does that mean Vangaurd is healthy and gaining? A couple dozen people posting newbie questions does not show proof that a game is growing. You and I both agree 500 people could be quiting or joining every day without posting and that proves your theory has no "proof" since the population could be going in any direction. How can you not see that.
Does it mean Vanguard *isn’t* healthy and growing? Personally I’m more then content to let people who actually play Vanguard speak to the state of its health.
In fact I wouldn’t be caught doing otherwise lest I end up like you and embarrass myself by trying to argue “We don’t know whether it’s growing or shrinking therefore it’s shrinking” One would think you have shrinkage obsession.
You mean like all the blindly obsessed fans who kept posting the game was fine and packed with people all the way up to Sigil shutting down and SOE merge servers soon after? Just go look up healz4U for a great example. Your logic is solid and I surely stand corrected now thanks to you. Of course you are to busy reading what you want to hear instead of what I was actually saying so not much matters anyhow.

So now EQ2 is loosing subs because you can point to one person who said Vanguard was fine? I think it’s pretty clear who blindly ignoring anything they want to hear and grasping at reasons why it may be true.

Exactly.
VG can't be worse then it is atm subscription wise. SOE turned EQ2 around, they will turn VG around... just wait.
Would you kindly show me where in this thread I state that EQ2 is loosing subs? Like I have said already, you read what you want to hear and not what is being said.
Well, you seems like a guy who want to point that out for sure... even if you probably did not mention it. If you never said it, why do you keep posting about it? I mean for someone that did not mention it, you seems to be very quick on things that seems to imply that EQ2 is healthy, not dying and gaining people.
Are you infering that it is somehow ok to put words in my mouth because you want to see me in a certain light despite the fact that I have not said such things?
Let me make something clear to you, I wasn't quick to jump on EQ2 being healthy or failing. I was jumping on YOU for calling someone out for lack of proof and then doing the same exact thing in the very next breath. You seem to be the one jumping on people for making population statements if you really care to take a look, but this wouldn't be the first time in the thread you accuse someone of doing exactly the same thing you are doing right?
Honestly, this has to be one of the most pointless flame wars, ever. No offense to either of you, but sheesh, come on.
If someone as stubborn as me can walk away from a thread when he knows he's taking it off topic and in a negative direction, surely you guys can too. Seriously, you have nothing to prove to anyone here, so stop acting like you have to justify your point to a crowd that really isn't even paying attention to begin with.

Note. The people that was crying, at least most of them, up until sometime midst april that the game was packed and fine. And up until that time Infineum peaked up on around 1500-1800 players, Gelenia peaked at 2500+. Alot of server was high populated with a couple on medium at peak hours. But the most noticable effect of low pop on servers began in middle of may.
But as I ment most post claiming the population at this time was right even in retrospective and there was alot less of these post (pop wise) during the last months/weeks before Sigil sold.
but even tho EQ2 may lose some subscribers, the loss certainly wont be EQ2's *death knell*
I completly agree with this.
And daffy... well if you don't like to see post about people joining, giving it a try and so on, well i'm sorry man Ok, maybe it's not solid proof, but having people posting that kind of stuff is a good indication about what is going on with EQ2
I never said I didn't like to see posts about people joining, stop putting words in my mouth.
I do agree it is a good sign, not proof like we both say, but it is a good indication that people are interested in trying a new game. It doesn't however indicate anything about retention rates or new or old players. There is alot of churn going on in the MMO scene right now. The market is ripe for another blockbuster IMHO as people are bored and looking for ANYTHING new.
I find the opinions of new players valuable as most often they have not been caught up in the love hate relationship of the forums.

True. Consider me a new player, i've only been playing for a couple months. I did not even tried the game at release.

"healthy" subscriber base is relative
I know this is the EQ2 forum but using COH as an example
COH has had 150k subs for around 2 years and is still thriving
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Heroes
http://news.filefront.com/lineage-drives-ncsofts-q2-821m-sales/
EQ2, like COH, will probably always be a niche game
people have been predicting death of EQ1 for over 8 years -- and its still pumping out expansions.

Who cares...
Play the game you want to play, why does it matter if you don't even play?
I don't understand it.
But I love cheese, go figure...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Mmmmmmm cheese.
Not enough cheese in MMORPG's methinks.
Currently Playing Nothing...
