i would suggest listening to the other guys but you might be able to get someone to run u to droks and then pwr lvl you but that takes a lot of cash
LOL! I read people spam-begging for "runners" to Drok's in Beacon's Perch so they can get their max armor. Then I read these SAME PEOPLE spam-begging to be PL'd once they get there and then will often see them spam-begging for gold, too!!!
Look, dude. The game only has 20 levels of progression to get through. Twenty. Period. I took a Prophecies Necro from new to 20 in 2 days of hard play. You could do it in less than a week of casual play.
But more importantly, IF you actually play your way through the game, by the time you get to Drok's, you'll have all the gold you need to max out your armor (even moreso now that the armor is cheaper), and you won't have to spam-beg for runners, PL'ers or gold!
This game is really not that hard, and people who want shortcuts through even something THIS easy are the kind of people that feel life owes them a living, too.

And one might even learn things Why spend a fortune on a sports car if you can't even drive?
I definitely don't advocate nor encourage getting a runner/PL to Droknar's Forge, especially on a first character.
yeah i heard many things about drok but i will go when im ready and level 13 isnt quite what id call ready yet. im already getting whooped in the yaks bend area but thats because henchmen die before me lol. serling did help me out alot the other day though.

I agree with Serling. By the time you get to Drok's on your own, not only will you have enough money built up but you will have the satisfaction that you got there on your own. I have never had someone "run" me anywhere. Do it yourself and enjoy the game!

made it to level 14! but cant beat the frost gate mission . i know what to do but im too slow and prince Rurik keeps dying.
EDIT: finally beat that mission. missions are so much easier playing with real players then henchmen. im still level 14 and having trouble finding quest now... i beat all quest except one.

Hehe, I always found it the other way round in the newbie places. Playing with a flare spamming necro who didn't use single skill except flare wasn't really very fun.
yeah i know what you mean i had a problem like that before. i hate it when people run off thinking he can kill anything and he ends up dying because he didn't stay in the group.

Bet you the necro was using Vampiric Spirit spell in combination with flare...
Approx 53 dmg from flare and 50-60 life steal...80-100dmg per cast...dont knock it. Just because you don't recognize the same PvX builds you love to talk about doesn't mean it isn't good
Guild Wars used to be about making your own builds and testing out new stuff, now sadly that is dying out as people use the same builds over and over. PvX FTL...it used to be just fine to share builds amongst friends and guildies, now it is out there for everyone to copy and beat into the ground.
I agree some missions can be done with Hero and Hench faster than PUGs, but find a group of people who like to do what you do and Real Players can blow hench and hero out of the water.

He was lvl 12, and no he didn't use a single other skill and he tried to tank too.
Yes. You ascend in the Crystal Desert by doing the three ascension missions (Elona Reach, Thirsty River and Dunes of Despair) then beating your Doppelganger (exact double) in the Augury Rock mission (it's a solo mission).
Once you beat him, you are transported to the Dragon's Lair, where you face 6 tests before meeting Glint the dragon. (These are actually pretty easy, and you can beat them with all henchie team if needed).
After Dragon's Lair, you are transported to Droknar's Forge, where you get 2 quests from Vanyi. The first, called Hero's Journey, requires you to visit at least one desert outpost where profession-changing NPCs offer quests specific to their profession. (These desert outposts are Seeker's Passage, Destiny's Gorge and Hero's Audience). Visiting all these outposts will give you access to the other 5 professions in Prophecies you can take as your secondary.
While you're in the desert, pick up the quest called "Forgotten Wisdom". It gives you 15 attribute points.
The second quest you get from Vanyi is called "Hero's Challenge." Successful completion of that quest gives you the last 15 attribute points you need to reach 200 aps, and allows you to max out your character'sattributes.
If you need help, look at your friend's list. You should already have certain names in there that gave you a lot of help before. Give one of them a shout once you get to the desert, and we'll get you through that pretty quickly.
P.S. To make a long story short, you can change secondaries, but you must ascend first to do so, the process for which is outlined above.
I know there are two posts above me with the same info, but I thought I'd link to the wikis. It's always good to check the wikis before asking questions. So for your convenience: Unofficial GWWiki and Official GWWiki

i recently learned you can change your profession later on in the game again... is this true?

You can change secondary profession yes. In Prophecies that will unlock some skill quests around Ascalon and the Northern Shiverpeaks.

Just an update...
The OP isn't stuck on level 12 anymore. In fact, he's an ascended level 20 now.
yeah.. got to level 20 in less than a week and couldn't do it without serling!
