a detailed mafia game, lots of cities, neigborhoods streets, drug dealing, robbery, bribe to politicans there will be no guilds, i mean guilds will be gangs. there will be agreements between gangs or wars. you know, you will live or die at the end, playing will be risky if they beat you will lose everything and start allover(like permadeath). this will rock all types of MMOs, not just HP or SW.

Actually LOTR didn't do all that well with the SP games, and LOTRO is hardly falling every day. They just launched a giant update...for free...and are probably falling in to a steady top 5 ranking in numbers. And with all that said, it's just not a very good game.
Regardless, if you think KOTOR would somehow break the mold above you just described...well...you're dreaming. SWG is on it's last legs, KOTOR 2 wasn't even done by Bioware, the Star Wars movies are done now, etc.

To me, Harry Potter offers a very vibrant world and the potential of drawing in a NON gamer/MMO fanbase for the first time, much like SWG did at launch before it pissed people off.
My opinion is that until something comes along that appeals to a whole new group all the MMOs keep doing is shifting around the populations of bored gamers from other MMOs.
I think Harry Potter could be legitimately different though.
