Well dont like Wow...EQ...Guildwars, but i dont have a problem whit that, i just continue to play other games that are more my style, and dont go intro a mass crusade , Not like a game is fine it happens to me aswell , people move on to the next game or come back afther some updates and try aigan ,but this goes beyond that. I have read almost all of your post at least here in the Lotro forums, and i said i did not find anything not negative yet.
Let me ask you this...
Did you dedicate 3 months of your life to any closed beta of any game your playing right now?
Did you report thousands of bugs, and have only half of them fixed on open?
Did you tell any of the game companies over and over about a specific issue to have them say over and over they know about it and will fix it...and they never do?
Well....welcome to my relationship with LOTRO...
And maybe that is the issue....the UI, the stutters, the various issues with sound, animation, loading and more were all discussed with the devs in depth on the closed beta forums...and we as testers received promises...they did not keep..
Even now, there are still features promised that are not there like the online access to your characters stats...
But, we as testers had faith in Turbine...as they had already ruined 2 games (AC2, DDO) and we were assured that LOTRO...a beloved license, would not get treated that way...
And we were wrong....we are not pleased with the end result...the pretty graphics are the only thing that survived...
So...as long as I feel satisfied typing what the game should have done, and what was not done..I will continue typing that...whether here, or on blogs..I will be negative about the game, and you can be the positive...how's that? I enjoy debate...and this gets all of these issues out in the open. Forums are the best debate spots..so as long as we are civil, you can tell everyone who reads the positives, and I will be the negative...and if I am wrong? Then I will admit it....will you?
And why you care, you don't like the game, you are an wow, eq2 FANBOI go troll to wow and eq2 forums, people on these forums are tired of trolls.
or you just jealous that LOTRO is a big success? that you cannot deny.
I like WoW..I like EQ2...I like Guild Wars...I like Hellgate...I like Mythos...I like The Witcher...
No jealousy involved..I am an equal opportunity poster...
For now...the best posting is here...and when the Rise of Kunark expansion is released..I will be there..
I also post on the EQ2 main forums also..
Basically..I go where needed...and with such eloquent posts as yours..I think I am needed here..
Thanks
You are needed? I think there are 100+ other trolls on this site arent there? You dont play the game. Your opinion of it regardless of if you were in beta or not means jack.
Tell ya what... play the game and post your opinions. Play it and quit...then shut up and play whatever else is your stroking post and comment about that.

Welcome to Beta-Testing MMOs.
I've went through the same thing in 3 different MMO Betas. I'd be very surprised to hear of an honest report that was any different. It's the nature of MMO Betas... and quite frankly from everything I've read... this one went better than most.
And these "promised features" as in plural... I've only heard of one... and that is still debateable on how much of a "promise" that was as opposed to a "wish list" item brought up in Dev Chat. When it's printed on the box as being in the game... That's a promised feature.
Also, I'll be looking forward to seeing this same level of "concern" for all your future games you Beta.
(For some reason... you seem to be woefully absent in the Hellgate forums.)
Edit: Silly proof-reader... going to have to pay him more!
A BJ award would be more intressting than this. And the Lotr mmo people prolly hired people to vote, I trust more the fun scale of people votes like the ones on this site, not staged ones.
Check out the Home page of this very site. I think it might surprise you which one is Most Popular and which one is currently #2 for Most Voted. (6 sites currently have the same score... EQ2 is currently #1)
Glad to hear that you agree with the results though.

Ok...so listed in the FAQ's on the main website is also not a promise? Only the box counts to you? In this day of digital downloads and no box...you still trust the box? The one that states LOTRO can run with 512mb? And then everytime you go to the forums on LOTRO and state the game is not running good and you have 512mb, they tell you to upgrade? That box?...lol
No...these features were listed as FAQ's on their site (which are woefully missing now) ...those were the promises I am talking about...not "dev chats" (as those were wasted.....for example... everytime fishing was brought up...all they could do was make jokes about it...no straight answers..uninformative)
As to Hellgate beta, I got exactly what I wanted ...a Single player game that I can go online to play...and for that beta, I only got in at the end...and immediately posted a bug there within 1 hour...and now in release...it is gone..
Now...should have seen me in the Gods and Heroes forums...lol...I think I berated that game even worse than LOTRO...lifeless, run like crap, boring...made LOTRO look like the God of Games..and there they decided to shut it down...even though fanbois still ranted it was good...it was a MESS! So, if you would have wanted to see more activity from me...shoulda been there...
Also of note.. The Witcher...I bought site unseen...no beta...as I had confidence in the developer...just like Turbine...and man did THAT pay off...that game is incredible.
Anyways, the difference between the other listed titles and LOTRO? I got what I was promised, an Action RPG with online features that runs great, a good single player game with an awesome story and also runs great...and another game shutdown due to not meeting expectations.....
I guess I am an equal opportunity forum poster. Now, unless my typed words hurt anyones feelings...I do not see why the concern...you should be happy I am here...look at how the views counts are thanks to our debates...keeps LOTRO in everyones eye (or ARE you aware of that, and that is why you keep me discussing the game...hmmmm)

Take into account both EQ2 and LOTRO both have the same players score for most voted...the only reason EQ is #1 is due to the fact it is number of votes (4722 EQ2 and LOTRO 2273)..and EQ2 has been out longer to garner that many votes
As to Most Popular....you know why LOTRO is showing up as "Most Popular"..
It is our wonderful debates that pull people in...people love themselves a good car wreck..
point is... obviously many, many people think that this is a very good game.
Why do people have to voice their hate on games that other people enjoy? With a game like Vanguard, it's obvious that there were a great many technical bugs that severely limited enjoyment of the game. But for a polished, AA title like LOTRO all the disent is from people who simply do not like the game.
It is their opinion. Everyone is entitled to one.
Why do we have to have this silly little arguements?
user rating (2273 total votes) - 8.3 / 10 IGN score - 8.6 / 10 Gamespot - 8.3 / 10 Warcry - 621 out of 82 (silly Warcry) Game Ogre - 8 / 10 Eurogamer.net - 9 / 10 computerandvideogames.com - 9.2 / 10 point is... obviously many, many people think that this is a very good game. I think my issue with the scores from reviewers are simple...how many hours are put in before a score is given..
How can they rate the game before say...level 30 (the purported plateau of LOTRO where the game makes the decision to keep you or not...and this varies...but a LOT of people voice their concerns over leaving at that level)
I put in 90+ hours to get to 30 (different for many people, but I am one of the noted "casual" players the game was targeted to...about 1-2 hrs during the week, and 3-4 on weekends..)...now, who of the listed reviewers above were paid for 90 hours or even 60 hours to review the game?...no they make their decision based on an average...or with a little help from the company....
Why do I say company. Have you ever read a preview where the reviewer starts a game, then the company "levels" them up to get to the later content?...
Take for example the gamespot review..they start by discussing mechanics, and mention level 10 at one point...then they mention later level 50 as PVmP players...in so many words...they played the game to level 10, made a monster played that...crafted some items, did some quests to get to 10...and did a review...
There is no indication the game was played any higher...no mention of various areas for the level 15's to 20...or that special level...30...
So, as it stands..I believe the game is a 9/10 up to level 20, a 7/10 up to 30, and a 1/10 for 30+...my opinion...wonder what reviewers would have thought....?

Maybe that was true in the closed beta. Maybe it was even true in the first month. Hard to say, because I only got to 15 (on 3 toons) in the open beta, and then paced the books pretty well on my main.
I can assure you that the game has filled in quite nicely 1-50 as it stands. I mainly solo (do some group stuff on the weekends) and have never come close to running out of stuff to do. I will hit 50 without having done more than maybe half the 40-50 solo quests. I kid you not.
Of course, not having played the game in 6 months or so I gues u'd have no way of knowing.
And as for the whole "multiple proffesional gaming journalist reviews vs. some the opinion of some random idgit on a message board".... ......wow. That's some pretty impressive myopia.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Played until August. Left...Returned on buddy keys and trials for the updates, including Book 11...so, I have seen what has been done...
So...you got MORE quests (at least some more solo stuff...but was it more of the kill 10x kind or fedex?)...Housing, which was not solid (the neighborhoods are cool...sold out houses and having to wait for other types of house to sell out before a new neighborhood opened...not so cool)
As to random ....uh...(nice word)...whatever...anyways.
I think people who HAVE played the game further than level 10 are worth a whole lot more salt than a reviewer (who we have seen in the past...can be bought out)
As to content...we have never argued too much about content, but the quality is the issue here...someone can throw a 100 more kill 10 x, run here quests at you...but are they worth it? But, more content is good...
The main issue is boredom when people hit 30...hopefully that is filled out for you guys..

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

A game thats not fun at ALL levels is a poorly made game. Period. Why should anyone waste their time and money to get to some mythical level in the game where its supposedly all milk and honey???
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Uh-Uh...I think 30 levels was MORE than enough to know

"Quit talking about it so people don't know it is boring at 30+"
But, you then decide to do the same thing by telling me to quit talking about it...Over and Over..your asking me to stop also shows something...
Really, I would not discuss it if you would let it go...
Also, they are just words on a website...they have no power over you, so I don't see why you care? Does it hurt your bottom line? Are you losing money?
Just click the "Block" button for my name...and guess what ...you will never know what I say, and that way you do not have to be "Forum Police"
Also, people have said...if you ignore people, eventually they go away...so, try that and maybe be surprised..

TRIPLE playThat's a double negative!
Not, Not ...AND..Negative..
A BJ award would be more intressting than this. And the Lotr mmo people prolly hired people to vote, I trust more the fun scale of people votes like the ones on this site, not staged ones.
Thanks
What I want to know is how people could Not vote for Bioshock and Portal...
Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
It all sucked.
Climb off that cross tool. You arent needed.

Cheers!
Glad to hear that you agree with the results though.
It is our wonderful debates that pull people in...people love themselves a good car wreck..
.so yes, yes...Your welcome..
Cheers!

point is... obviously many, many people think that this is a very good game.
Cheers!

Cheers!

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
How many times can people vote in for this award? Sorry, never heard of "Golden Joystick" awards before.

A game thats not fun at ALL levels is a poorly made game. Period. Why should anyone waste their time and money to get to some mythical level in the game where its supposedly all milk and honey???
