i agree with others saying theres something going on. why would they name thier internal test servers, thats nonsense.

Even planetsides Test server is just called Testserver and "stageing server" or something like that. I guess we will have to see soon.

With the LA/Bioware announcement, I am even more convinced something is up.  Coincidence?  Not when SOE is involved- everything has a cause.  This could not have been a surprise to SOE, so they would have the foreknowledge to time "whatever" to piggieback on the LA/Bioware buzz.

Most likely a server merge or character transfer, but I would not completely rule out classic servers.  Though highly unlikely.

I know most people would like a KOTOR MMO, but I personally would like it to be set after episode 6 so I can still fly an A wing or X wing lol! I heard that the time period of Legacy is pretty cool, but then again I don't know much about it.

    /agree

Besides - it would have a good selling point and a familiar look to a lot of players.

Marketing would be easier than saying "here is a KotOR MMO" - and a *lot* of Star Wars fans will say a "what MMO?"

When you have characters and situations that are easily identifiable at a glance, then it will be easy to sell.  Showing a picture of some unknown Sith Lord or someone with a lightsaber isn't going to peek a lot of interest these days.

Marketing is going to have to be big for this - just like it is going to be huge for "The Force Unleashed" (it is being released just like a Hollywood movie).

BioWare can do it, but I think it would be easier if commonly recognizable characters were used instead of something that only a small amount of fans know about.

Yeah the original 3 (luke) were definately better imo. And i would like to seem them focus on what happens after that (luke making an academy or whatever). Not to mention, i liked swg pre-cu but i didnt like it when they mashed all the other epidodes (the newer movies) armor and weapons into it... felt like timelines were mixed.

But yes I agree with you they should definately do it after episode 6.

Maybe Bioware is taking over SWG?

Now THAT would be very interesting indeed.

I'd think though that LA, being technological in nature, would want an updated engine for a new SW MMO, just start fresh instead of letting the aging SWG engine power a new game.  The SWG engine seems to have probems quite apart from the CU or NGE that have never really been dealt with.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

It's been stated they're going to use the Hero Engine. I checked out their website and I have to admit it still seems to show promise. But I gotta admit the video you showed about the infinity engine rocks. With an engine like that it seems like it could totally support atmoshperic flight from the planet all the way to space! But god only know what kind of computer you'd need to run something like that. Ahh well, some day though. That would be awesome. Have designated star ports for your imperial cruiser on land visible to everyone, and then try and fight your way to space as swarms of rebel fighters try to destroy it as it tries to take flight from the ground to space.

That's nothing, there are far better videos of the Infinity engine/game out on their site.  Infinity is going to be one hell of an MMO despite the lack of ground avatars.
