You know what the difference is between battlefront and NGE? battlefront you dont pay a monthly fee.As for new "devs"  the real devs left long ago and i still luagh about that dev poll how can we bring back CH with as little as possible coding LMAO some dev team. SOE likes to play musical devs anyways why the game is always a mess and will be till its shutdown. So enjoy your blue rancors with pink horns and jurrasic park incubators

Yeah I said in another thread, at least 75+ members in the dev pre-CU, 1 for each of the 32 profs and most likely 2 for Jedi (due to multiple force trees), art team, bug team, space team, such and such. I remember one of the main Jedi focus devs didn't cooperate with the BH focus dev when trying to address the tracking droid problem (when you couldn't track Jedi with them).

And if I'm not mistaken, 2 of the ex-SWG devs joined Bioware Austin for this new project and isn't Ralph Koster one of them?

Honestly, this new dev team SOE has for SWG are actually putting forth effort for their current subscribers, though the collections is simply a time sink to keep people busy, chapter 8 will be better with onboard capitol ships and stations, I may be curious on that when it comes out.

Do you know how long SOE has been spouting off about putting capitol ships in the game?  I wouldn't hold my breath.

It's funny that my old account got banned yesterday by mmorpg.com for battling nge'rs in the VETERANS REFUGEE forums!  Take another check from SOE why don't you guys.  Why not just ban the pro NGE faction for even coming in here considering that this isn't their forum and they only come in here to flame and start arguments.

Either way, we all know that MMORPG.com are schills, always have been and always will be.  They want to prove they are unbiased ban the people who  deserve it, not the people that are posting in the forums created for them.

    Noobs!!!!!

Under 20k players for a Starwars game.  That just speaks for itself as a massive failure really, there's no other way to put it...

The game needs to die so something can replace it.

sigh... I honestly hope that what ever next SW MMO comes out, that they do actually include boardable capitol ships and stations. Better yet, guild space stations and capitol ships (for housing reasons and PvP raiding the same way that the super hero bases work in CoH/CoV)

I just love how a "poster" says there are 20k subs and the people that hate SWG pick up on that and say it like its the truth. The last statement by SOE was that SWG had around 100K subscribers, and that they did not include in that number "trial" accounts.

It's not even prime time yet and my "light" server is packed with people enjoyin the new content of chapter 7.

Actually the last estimate was 100k accounts total including trials and what not, but the important number is active accounts which is 20k.

What part of 20K ACTIVE ACCOUNTS is hard to grasp?  SWG has almost no playerbase.  You miight think the Veterans are a bunch of idiots but we know when a game has players and when it does not.  I've played games like City of Heroes and WoW, you know...  Games with actual populations?

It takes about .1 second to see the difference between them and SWG.

So, you who are not playing...are telling someone who is playing that there is no one playing on his server......

And lets say the 20K number is true..... Lineage 1 continues onwards here in the US with far fewer people .....so doesn't mean they'll be shut down anytime soon....

Besides...why do you care....won't change the EA/Bioware plan.....

If people are enjoying it then I don't see the possibility of a new Star Wars mmo as a reason to leave.  Theres plenty of other reasons to quit besides a new game that probably won't be out for at least a year and likely more.

I wonder if they include Station Pass in their subscription numbers.  I went back during the last vet trial on my old server, which was fairly healthy pre-nge, and saw almost no one.  I went to  every planet and all the old and new hot spots.  Only place I saw more than 5 people was Mos Eisley.  Why would anyone want to play a game thats just limping along?

Actually I don't believe they will close down soon.  I don't see any reason, ESPECIALLY if SOE is doing a server merge (which seems to be imminent) that they should close up shop.  Why not milk the game for every dime you can?

It took them 6 months to get Chapter 7 out which clearly demonstrates the lack of resources (manpower) that the SWG development team has...  The game can't be costing SOE too much to operate and even less when they are dealing with far less servers.

If I were SOE I would keep the game running as long as possible.

Yeah it is stupid that these fanbois come along to the veteran forum just to nag us, I don't know why they do it personally, they know full well why we're pissed off and they know full well that we're never going to trust the company that took away our game ever again.

problem is, they (BioWare) has already stated, the IP is NOT their own

Hey can i get the link to where bioware says that the mmo will not be their own ip? Please. i need it for future reference. :)

I seriously doubt that you were a first day vet. I dunno, its kinda obvious. You know... with all the defending of a broken game. Especially with the pub 7 only being out 1 day... i doubt you have done all that.

    Yeah... kinda obvious.

I have no need to "defend" this game, anyone who plays it now will see the difference this publish makes.

SWG, MxO, and PlanetSide and whatever other "failed" SOE titles are just piggyback riding on the SOE station pass. If you know well enough about MxO and PlanetSide, you would probably say the same thing I did, that they should have died a long time ago and barely has anyone playing those two titles but why are they still going? Station pass would keep them alive. EQ/EQ:OA and EQ2 are getting the bulk of those station pass players and I'm not sure about Vanguard (though I hear lots of negative stuff about that game).

I don't see SWG "officially" dying soon but while playing it you can see it happening. I checked out chap 7 on a friend's account, the heroic encounters seems fun but the killing stuff over and over and over and over are already tiresome (I managed to get 4 holocrons from NS and 1 from FS NPC). Last night server population seems unchanged, the top 4 servers at "medium" are still the same while everyone else was light and very light but we'll have to wait til tonight and Sat night to really see what happens.

I seriously doubt you played this game before the CU or NGE hit...  Either way if you don't need to defend this game to us why are you here doing just that?  Seems sort of contradictory don't you think?

Yes I can't remember pistol melee defense 1 that allowed me to solo squills 1 week into the game, or running across Endor doing COA, or waiting for the one last resource that was needed to finally craft a T-21. Nor the time when on TC in November 2003 when Greenmarine showed up in our player city wearing RIS (no one had seen that before).

It may not be KOTOR 3, however the MMORPG that BioWare and Lucas Arts are working on will be a STARWARS title. It could be STARWARS GALAXIES 2.

Ok, and here is the thing people like you just don't seem to get.  Lineage is not STAR WARS, Lineage is not a blight on an IP that has had a major effect on the lives of millions upon millions of people.  Lineage to my knowledge has never treated their customers like SOE has.  LIneage has never had a veterans forum created (which you are in right now, in case you had forgotten) so people could bitch about the previously mentioned screwing from SOE.  Finally, we will not stop reporting the truth about SWG/SOE until the game is closed and the joke it has brought onto the IP we love is dead.  No matter how hard cult members like yourselves, (who have obviously drank SOE's kool-aid) feed us your sound bites of SOE's company line.

It doesn't seem a valid reason to have the game cancelled simply because we, as vets, don't like it. There are people playing that are enjoying it and that is reason enough to leave it well alone and let them have their fun. I havent logged in for about 6 months and when I did then, I was blown away by the lack of  people online at key times of the day/week.

My last full time sub was pre cu and nge and I like so many vets really miss what was a wonderfully fun game. I hope that SOE do enough work to keep the current subs happy and they continue to enjoy their game and that who ever does develope a new Star Wars game,  does the job the genre deserves.

Don't think the SWG plug ever will be pulled, still people who love the game for what it is, i know the memories i have with SWG is not something i want to let go, regardless of how the game is now.

  • KhorianKhorian Member Posts: 64

The thing is, the people that play SWG now either play it because its the only Star Wars MMO, because its fast and easy no brainer wow style action or for sentimental reasons (vets).

Most never expirienced the original SWG with its complexity, and got "drafted" by the new SWG advertising campaign. They found what they expected and liked it, so they played it. They never read the original SWG handbook, they have no idea ;)

But can we blame them? No. We can only pity them for never having expirienced SWG in all its original beauty.

Maybe they even are a new generation, a wowified generation. The gimme gimme fast fast generation.

To all the old vets that still play for sentimental reasons all i can say is: Make the cut, all your old firends are long gone. SWG has no future.

God I remember having to wait for MONTHS on the resource needed for T21s and some other items to spawn on Lowca and even when it first spawned the stats sucked balls, and I was an architect/weaponsmith at the time.
