I think it's funny that MMORPG added a section for Hellgate because the community requested it; and now the community is screaming "OMG why is this on here it's not an MMO!" Looking at this box cover, I don't see anything that tries to claim it as an MMO. I've never seen it advertised as such. And quite frankly, I'm glad it isn't. The OP wanted a decent singleplayer game, and I think you guys just gave him fuel for the fire with the "not an MMO" comments.
A portion of community ( not all, since many of us stated from the beginning it should never have been here ) requested it because Flagship represented it as an mmo. Surprise, people were pissed to find out it's not one. Go figure.
Far as singleplayer, it is a decent game. Far as fuel for the fire, talk to Flagship. They're the ones who screwed up.
Looking to the game itself, Roper spoke candidlyregarding Hellgate: London's online components, which interestingly he openly compared to those found in other popular massively multiplayer online games. “We have always had the intention of providing a rich, robust, MMO gaming experience for our players,” stated Roper. His comments follow Flagship's August 2006 formation of Ping0, a joint venture designed to manage online services for Hellgate: London.
I gave it a shot, but couldn't really get into it. Alot of people say they enjoy it though...I bought Tabula Rasa at the same time as Hellgate and figuring I wouldn't like TR, but the opposite is true. I am having a blast playing TR and didn't really care for Hellgate.
