*cough* Considering this is the first I've heard of the problems being this widespread, they're doing GREAT from a PR-point-of-view

Seriously, I hope as much as you guys that the issues get solved, so that *everyone* can enjoy the game.

I only can say. Next time listen to what other and wiser people say. Most of the times so called "haters" are not people that hate the game just because. But the people that speak with wisdom and experience.

When i stated on this forums that i do not like the subscription idea. It was not because i find 10$ is much, but exactly because of this sort of potential problems.

I would be 100 more happy if they charged for aditional content in form of expansions.

That way you would know exactly what you are paying for.

This way you are buying cat in a sac (because you dont know what this additional content will be, when it will come, and how much of it)

And for other people saying that subscription in HGL is way more fair than GW way.

At least in GW - expansion was substential and always brought lot of new content and classes - so you knew exactly what and why you are paying.

Depends. Not all are. Some people rant just to rant, without giving any reasons whatsoever as to why 'the game sucks'. I tend to not take them seriously. For all I know, they hate the game with a passion because 'you can't jump'.

You're giving a good reason: you don't like the subscription model. I disagree with that, and it's my money I'm going to spend on something *I* think is worth. Each to his own, in that case. However, what you state here above is NOT a good reason, namely 'potential problems'. The problems aren't even there yet.

When i stated on this forums that i do not like the subscription idea. It was not because i find 10$ is much, but exactly because of this sort of potential problems. --You predicted that specifically this game would outsource their billing to a company that doesn't do it's job well, where the dozens of other pay-to-play games didn't have the issue? With wisdom and experience?
I would be 100 more happy if they charged for aditional content in form of expansions. --"They" wouldn't. And considering "they" have the final say...
That way you would know exactly what you are paying for. --because now you're forced at gunpoint to not wait for the actual content updates.
This way you are buying cat in a sac (because you dont know what this additional content will be, when it will come, and how much of it) --Yea, it's not like they stated their intentions
And for other people saying that subscription in HGL is way more fair than GW way. At least in GW - expansion was substential and always brought lot of new content and classes - so you knew exactly what and why you are paying. --Which would be a valid point, except I (and many others with me) am not willing to pay for GW while I am willing to pay for HGL. Monthly.

    There. All pretty colory.

The billing problems are there. In fact such serious billing problems were not seen in long time.

But i do not blame FLS - it is simply a fact of online payment. There is always a risk.

Paying for expansions as every other "non greed" based company does , is much better way

both for user and developer. And i am sure EA will figure this out very very soon - but to late

Now, they are, yes. But they weren't there before the game got released, and you make it sound like people warned others for this disaster. Which is silly. Because at THAT point in time, before the game was released, the problems didn't even exist yet. To me, that's the same category of people who rant just to rant, without giving any solid reasons why.

There is something called "Educated guess"

Although in this case nobody really suspected a billing fiasco. It is unfair to say I did...I was surprised as everyone else.

I usually take a look at a poster's history to see if they can manage an 'educated guess'. 90% however, rant about EVERY game, before it's out and after. But sure...They are bound to hit the jackpot SOME day with their educated guess.

I subscribed, feels like a big waste of 10 bucks.

I was a supporter of this game, and it's quite fun the first go around with a class from the 3 different types.  Not anymore, the game basically ends at 30 for any sane person.

With subbing I got a minimal amount of bank space basically... WOW AMAZING!  They didnt even double my bank size, not to mention you can't even share the items with you're other toons.  I got more character slots, wow I am in awe yet again!  Oh wait, but the other modes will make it worth it.. RIGHT?  R I G H T????  Wrong.  Elite mode sucks, doesn't reward you better for increased difficulty.  Hardcore... lawl, hey if you want to risk a hardcore toon and dying due to a crash more power to ya, I won't.

Flagship, you fail.  On top of all that garbage, you can't even respec.  Why?  I don't know, but I'll just assume because diablo 2 didn't have it.

It's great reading the forums, I actually saw a similar reply to this somewhere; Flagship/fanboi answer to questions -

Picked the wrong skill LOL NOOB - MAKE A NEW CHARACTER!!

Expect to have content after 30 in a game that has a lvl 50 cap LOL - MAKE A NEW CHARACTER!!

Stuck on a quest? LOL NOOB YOU EXPECT WORKING QUEST - MAKE A NEW CHARACTER!!

Bored of the game? - MAKE A NEW CHARACTER!!

So in short, Hellgate was massively hyped and it turned out to be a steaming peice of poo that thankfully I only wasted 60 bucks on (w/sub) instead of 70 because I'm smart and don't buy CEs.

WE, mark the "WE", LOVE it.

And Stonehenge is coming and WILDERNESS

oh my ! The BOSSES. The LOOT . Oh the LOOT !

Sorry have to start up Hellgate.Ciao!

Let me just butt in here.

These problems are not due to payment model which is valid in theory - the problems all stem from implementation of the model which could have happened with any other subscription scheme.

Don't use my and other peoples' horrid experience with the implementation to attack the model itself.

    /edit

to the above poster - Yes! Stonehenge! If they introduce the really varied wilderness areas this will boost the game immensely and remove about 50% of my reservations on this game! (Far Cry did a wonderful job of creating a feeling of menace in a tropical paradise setting - imho much scarier than your average damp basement)

Maybe my subscription issue is resolved next month. Going to be very tricky, and the time is very short, I know. Only 1,5 months. But I MIGHT actually get to see some subscriber content this year for the money they took off my credit card.

There are always people who have problems with using credit cards online. The game is a hell of alot of fun. Yeah there are some issues but again too many people overhype things. I subscribed and haven't had any issues at all.  Just don't tell people not to subscribe because you hate EA for some reason. I am not caring much for EA either but it doesn't stop me from playing the game I want to play. Many people don't care for Blizzard but yet they still play WOW.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

  • daveospicedaveospice Member UncommonPosts: 366

What's really the cream of the crop is that Diablo 2 is more of an MMORPG than HGL ever will be in it's near future.  The game simply is just an online chat room, where hardly anyone plays together.   This pisses me off to no end because now we, as consumers, are seeing companies like EA (which make up the majority of the gaming world) attaching MMO to something that isn't, just so they can release it half ass and it get accepted by the majority of the public.  I mean, are we really getting slapped in the face or what?

if you join a guild your other chars don't join it as well, and if you add a friend none of your other chars see that friend when they log in.  So, basically... if you play hardcore... which is a subscriber feature... you have to go out of your way to make friends.  In fact, I don't even have AIM or ICQ or anything anymore.  I' mused to the games I play having functional chat.

How can it be a chatbox, when nobody uses it ? ^^

Is dropping $10 before the first major content update really such a devastating loss?

PS: I like the sig too, unfortunately at this point, if you don't buy EA games, you're pretty much not playing them. They freaking own everyone now Though, there are...alternatives...for such issues

I got my ands on a copy of the game, at first I wasn't to impressed with the game, but after getting use to the controls it became better till, the last patch/update they loaded, since during I picked up these blueprints and collected all the items on blueprint and cool I had an Pet running around with me, and then the patch hit, so now I have n Pet that I can use since I did'nt subscribed.  Now for the subsciptions, 9,99 euros/Month doesn't sound allot by I'm from South Africa so after convertion to our currency I am buying the game over and over, so this patch or shall I say Subscriptions mechanics, at this point the fire to play the game now is at the low side.

I wouldn't call it complaining, I'd call it informing. I also want people to know that paying for the subscription is not worth it, just so more people won't  waste their money.
