Nice, thanks for the heads-up! My trial expires this weekend so if I want to continue playing the game I will need to wait a week to get the $20 discount. This could be a difficult decision.

It's not worth saving $20 to go out the morning after Thanksgiving. I stood in line at Circuit City for two hours last year to buy some $9.99 games. Never again. Will bestbuy.com have them for $9.99?
Guild Wars and WoW are 3 years old now...lol...and the rest...well...PSP and PS2 games...I guess I will just stop ...

Afraid this one isn't a good one for you openedge.
They put stuff on the list for Black Friday that people want, i.e. that will get them into the store. That is the whole point of Black Friday sales. This isn't a bargain bin listing. They must have thought that those three MMOs listed were the best choices to get people into the store. However I'd be interested to hear your spin on it.
Edit: o.k. I give... I couldn't figure out the connection with the youtube video and lotro and bestbuy. I did like the tune though, had been awhile since I'd heard that one. Yeah, yeah, I know... I'm and idiot. I really couldn't figure out the connection though.

They can also mark it down if it will NOT move off their shelves as well.
I had posted a NPD report showing sales of LOTRO being almost non-existent in September..(will have to check some of my previous posts...can't find that chart currently)
But, the fact that that LOTRO was not even in the top 50, AND the listing for the last place game was less than 2000 copies...I do not see how you can state LOTRO moves in LARGE volumes..
Octobers charts have also shown LOTRO to be absent...so, I guess I am confused over your statement..
Unless you can show me some different data?

Without an LOTRO listing in site...so, what does this say? It is 9.99 due to low sales, and it needs to be pushed out...or Turbine agreed to a lower listing to push more copies...

Yes...North Carolina to be precise...so, I understand Black Friday...overstock sell off, etc...
And by my definition, I did NOT state everything was not selling. But, I did point out...PSP games are on that list (which the PSP is not a hot seller itself...the DS is the top seller...) PS2 games (PS2 which will eventually be fazed out...), and then 2 MMO's that are 3 years old...so, they are only 20 bucks to begin with. That is 11 bucks off of games that have made more than enough cash over the years...
So...what does this low price do for the bottom line of a game that has not even been out a year? You decide. 20 bucks off it's retail...ouch!
Reality...Level 29 (ps: he is two bars from 30 by the way), as I level my alts. Also, did you notice the NPC's killed or Quests completed lines? Take it you have not noticed that they have changed...And really...why would I rush through a game with so much to do anyways...?
I also started the new expansion for EQ2..RoK...
I take it you only play ONE character?...doesn't that get boring?

My guess is it doesn't do anything to the bottom line for Turbine. They have already sold the game to the store at a set price. The retail store is the one who takes the hit on the bottom line. That's why it's called a "loss leader", it gets traffic into the store in hopes of people buying other things. If anything this should actually help Turbine to move more boxes and gain new subs.
Amazon.com will be selling either a Nintendo Wii @ $79, Sony PS3 @ $139, or Microsoft Xbox 360 @ $99 on Thanksgiving day (limit 1000). Does this mean these are overstocks or that these companies are hurting? Of course not. It hits Amazon's bottom line, not the bottom line of these companies.
lol right. Flip flop it all you want, I can get EQ 2 for 5 dollars out of the bargain bin at Gamestop. What is the point . It is a sale, I think it is awesome that someone can purchase the game for 9.99 , then if they didn't like it then it isn't a big hit on the wallet .

Never said you couldnt get EQ2 for 5 bucks...a 3 year old game disc that has been discontinued due to the new release formats...then you would miss all the good gameplay that the expansions have introduced...it would be a wasteNow, luckily, you can buy the original game...ALL expansions, ALL addon adventure packs, and rewards for 39 bucks in a digital download...
I guess I don't understand the comparison...anyways, I also noted...LOTRO would be good to hopefully bring in more subs...sorry it has not sold well though in the shops...
Luckily, my gameplay is so fun, that there is no need to rush through level 29...and I think that is the big sell point. I enjoy EQ2 as an exploration type game, learning how it works, enjoying REAL crafting that pays off...and having multiple alts so I may explore different regions...why would I want to go any faster?

I also understand this method of sales (managed a retail outlet for 3 years)...What this also means is this particular title must be sold "cheaply" to the store, to be considered in the Black Friday listing or has been on shelves for a while, so need to be sold to get new inventory or end of year counts will suck...so, the fact that the games listed are either low sellers that need to be moved off shelves (the company has paid for the games...they are collecting dust, and need to be moved off for inventory counts...i.e: PSP and PS2 games) or are a low purchase cost (WoW or Guild Wars due to age are probably sold with a 45% markup)...
Where does this leave LOTRO? Are they at the point that they are at a 45% mark-up? Or have they been on shelves too long?
As to the Amazon deals...these are special deals for a 1000 pieces and they have been doing this for months to get people to their site...Go look at the Black Friday ad's for the Xbox 360 or PS3 in the Brick and Mortars...they are still the SAME price...but have something included...
Example : 40GB PS3 for $400, with the Blu-ray movie Spiderman 3 packed in..
That is it's normal price...
I also said...the items do not need to be "bad" sellers...but, somehow they have a reason to be on the list...
Another example: a 50" Samsung DLP for $799...WoW (at Circuit City)....cheap eh?...oh, did we mention it is 720p? As 720p is being phased out...hmmm...

I'm actually starting to find Openedge1's posts to be quite humorous.
The amount of time he spends researching his troll posts about LOTRO is incredible! Very quick to point out any supposed shortcomings of Turbine or LOTRO, quick to address the LOTRO fanboys and always ready to post any negative press or news about the game.
Head on over to the EQ2 forums and look for a post about how someone dislikes the latest expansion ROK. You'll see him defend his favorite game like a typical fanboy... attacking the "troll" and his post.
A question to Openedge: If you're so wonderfully content with EQ2 and love it so much, how do you have the time to research LOTRO and post the incredible amounts of posts you do on it's forum?
If I were so in love with my current game, I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time gathering and posting information about a game I don't like. I'd be doing the opposite.. researching for more information and PLAYING the game I do like!
My dislike for EQ2/SOE is probably stronger than his dislikes of LOTRO/Turbine, but I really don't feel like wasting my time trolling a game I don't like.
No wonder you're not past level 29!
