What upcoming MMORPG will be the best??

All four of these games seem great to me and really can't decide too much between them which one I want to play.   Which one do you think will be the best of them, and why do you think it will be??

If you had included darkfall on the list, I would say that.

    As you haven't, AOC.

AoC.  Why?  Because people over their without guild tags in their signatures speak with open minds both good and bad about the game.  At the same time, if the person has a guild tag on over there, you will hardly ever find them saying anything against the game or funcom.  It is funny watching them all suck up to funcom about how wonderful everything is over there and how funcom can do wrong.  Want proof of what I'm talking about? http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=44759&page=1

You won't find a single complaint from a person with a guild tag.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

I just like the look of AoC.  I don't have any experince playing but the PvP looks cool.  The only thing I'm questioning is if 9 battlekeeps will be enough, but time will tell.

A and CoS are, I think, not going to be broad enough or deep enough.  Nor do they have the necessary IP to be a wide draw outside the mainstream.

AoC is being done by Funcom, who have proved year after year that they are unable to put out, or fix, their badly flawed AO product.

So, that leaves WAR.  Being produced by Mythic, who made the very (for the time) successfull Dark Age of Camelot.  At the time, EQ1 had ~450k subscribers, and I belive DAoC achieved (before WoW), something on the order of  ~250k to ~300k subscribers.  Some of those were taken from EQ1, and some were new.  But, DAoC was the second only to EQ1 MMORPG until WoW took over.

    So, I vote for WAR

    Good IP

May bring in new MMORPG players from Miniatures WAR community

    Known good company developing

Vast experience in PvP and PvE environments

Warhammer will attracks most subs. I have the feeling it looks and feels a lot like Wow, however most focused on PvP. Not saying it is an clone of something, but just the same play style as WoW has.

AoC however will most likely be more inovating, however duo to this and becouse it seems more harder then WAR it will most likely get less subs.

Fallen Earth will be inbetween these to. Though it will receive a good deal in subs and it will be rather inovating on some points. However it is focused on teamplay and therefor might not reach the same amount of subs Warhammer will get.

Darkfall will get a low amount of subs compared to the above three. around 100K I think especialy at release. Might grow in a year or 2 to 500K. Fallen Earth will be around 500K , WAR around 2-3 million and AoC most likely at 1 million. This is all guessing offcourse.

However Darkfall will be most inovating and complecated AND teamwork is vital to play the game. Also it seems you actualy have to invest time to archive something. In WAR, AoC and even Fallen Earth you can join in do a few mission in a half hour and log off. Giving you the feeling of archivement (Making WoW so "addictive"). For poeple with patience, who like to work a lot of hours finished an project this game would be more rewarding.

For I think best has to be defined first. WAR will be a good PvP (and good PvE, however I think PvE will suffer becouse of PvP balances) game, with a high population. AoC will be an good PvP game with less population though. Fallen Earth will have PvP and PvE good balanced with an mediocore population.  Darkfall will be extreamly inovating and orginal, with awsome PvP, great economy but a low on population.

However I do not belive these are competition of each other. WAR will take away subs from WoW. AoC will attracks new poeple to MMOs (So will WAR, as it might get Warhammer fans to MMOs) and will take PvPer from other games. Fallen Earth will get players from SWG, TR, etc and will get some FPS fans to MMOs and will get a good amount of RPers. Darkfall will get a rare breed of MMOers from games like Wurm Online, ATITD and Roma Victor.

So I belive they are all the best in there own "Genre" in the MMO genre.

PS: Aion and CoS I do not know a lot about.

So far I haven't seen an indie developer, that's supposedly making a game that's "innovative" really deliver. For that reason, I don't have much hope for Darkfall. I'll certainly play it, if it turns out well, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

AoC, seems iffy because of the combat issues. Looks nice, but I'm not sure how the game play will be. That, and I think they are making it for consoles, which may mean the controls suck. Again, I'm willing to give it a try if it turns out well.

My only real hope is for Warhammer. I really liked DAoC, though of course it had it's frustrations, and after TOA it wasn't that much fun. Hopefully the devs of DAoC can deliver another great RvR type game. If not, the future looks bleak unless some hidden project pops up out of nowhere to surprise us all.

I'm sure at some point there will be a World of Starcraft, but more than likely it will just be a WoW clone with new terrain, and new skins for the characters, which wouldn't interest me in the least.

I'd have to go with Elder Scrolls MMO, Bioware MMO, Square Enix MMO, or WaR.  Since WaR is the only one coming up shortly I guess it wins.  I want CoS to win but I think they need new hit detection, new animations, updated art, and a flawless release to succeed.

Aion without fail will succed.  In those games I also believe it will be best.  Aion isn't just any old mmo like the others on the list.  It is NCSofts current lead development title, and was designed to compete in the over saturated Korean MMO field.  The game not only offers breathtaking graphics, social elements, and PVP; but it also is attempting to manipulate and offer something new to gameplay.  A game where your level is dependant on completing a scenario and instanced based story driven quests, not grinding out monsters all day.

WAR and AoC are going to be heavily PVP based with very little changing from the old mmo formula.  Only different is AoCs combat system.  As always the graphics are unoptimized messes, and isn't really on par with Aion, even AOC.  Also without fail NCSoft is constantly showing gameplay videos on Aion, not just CGI trailers.

You never know what MMORPG will be the best. However, I wager they will all be succesful. I think the MMORPG market has significantly increased in the last 5 years, and that means more than one MMORPG can be a gold mine. My guess is that many people will be buying WAR and AoC when they come out than Aion or Spellborn...however, if WAR or AoC have issues (gameplay, hacks, lag) you may see a late rise in Aion or spellborn.

With all the hype surounding them I'd bet surprised if both WAR and AOC didn't garner more subscribers. However  the OP asked what upcoming MMORPG would be the best... Not the most popular, but best.

Experience in former titles doesn't guarantee anything as there are plenty of examples on this site that prove that.

My money goes to TCOS or AION as I tend to like the talented underdog.

    AoC

Personally think it could be interesting

  • cattypatcattypat Member Posts: 11

As sad as it may be, it's probably dependant on how WotLK for Wow turns out, as many will be suckered back into the "explore more fluffy lands" offering, and the grip of the gear grind returning once more.

Then again all the servers could shut down for weeks causing addicts to search new ways to feed their addiction.

    You have to hope eh?

    Guild Wars 2.

Stay far away from EA / WAR.... Call it a friendly warning unless you liked WoW, in which case your better off just buying WoW expansion then trying to deal with EA/Mythic.

WAR is the only game I'm really looking forward to.

  • PyndaPynda Member UncommonPosts: 856

Darkfall and Pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies are the only two I have any real hope left for. But of course I'll read the (player) reviews when the others are released.

AoC and WAR - both look like class based, quest centric WoW/EQ1 clones with an extra feature or two thrown in to me. Can anyone say Vanguard?

Aion - I don't know much about it, but I recently watched a video of a large group in Aion attacking a single AI guard. This while five or six other guards were standing just feet away (and in line of sight) acting completely oblivious. So apparently no new AI innovations here.

Spellborn - Went to the website and spent 20 minutes or so taking a look. Said to myself "meh", but it was so unmemorable I can't even remember why. When it releases I'll check on it again.
