I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, but I cannot imagine any other reason bioware and LA would team up. I know nothing of business matters etc, but the delay in their annoucement must hinge on some other contractual agreement. Any annoucement would only help generate excitement no matter what the IP so it must be some legal reason my nonbusiness mind cannot comprehend.. Anything bioware makes will be anticipated greatly by the community. Not sure I want to know too soon because I may not be able to stand the 2-3 year wait. At least while I don't know what the IP is, I don't feel as though I have read their website or forums everyday like I would if I was interested in the IP.
Should its experiment with the XPS M1730 pan out, I see a whole raft of possibilities in the tailored-to-gamers market. For example, any day now, Electronic Arts' (Nasdaq: ERTS) Bioware subsidiary is expected to announce a new online game. With Bioware's record of success, it could well evolve into a phenomenon (or even multiple, successive phenomena) on a WoW scale. Each EA hit would offer Dell the prospect of building a new branded product at a premium price.
Well I'm not losing any sleep waiting until Bioware decides to tell us the news but I am sure whatever they are working on many people will be interested and wanting to play their game. Bioware has always made excellent games.
at this point I could care less. Im not really expecting anything revolutionary from Bioware.
wow if anything they will put the most innovative stuff in the MMORPG genre then anyone has for awhile.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

I am For BioWare to come out with a bland MMORPG clone would be a disaster for the company and would knock them right off the throne as best RPG developer.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
Well BioWare is know from creating best RPG games, so or it will be new RPG Game or first MMO That dont change fact that BioWare always try do something NEW (Like Baldur's Gate who brng back RPG to live, NWN - first that acualy goive playes to crate new expansions by themselfs, Jade Empire - with amazing brand new Fighting System, and Mass Effect - Didnt play so I dont know what he brings new :P)
Whatever the particular setting will be, I'm betting much of the Mass Effect's own dialogue and AI will be strong influences on the backend of this project. Which is a damn good thing considering how many years they put into that product, it doesn't seem right not to continue extending the technology from that product to other products that they're producing.
I'm not understanding why just because bioware made KOTOR that because they are teamed with lucas "again" that they have to make an Online game just like kotor.. Why would they make an online game basicaly like a game they have allready made? I say they make a game better then SWG and better then both KOTORs put together and have no relation to either one other then they are star wars. And i def dont wanna see it in 2009
at this point I could care less. Im not really expecting anything revolutionary from Bioware.
I am For BioWare to come out with a bland MMORPG clone would be a disaster for the company and would knock them right off the throne as best RPG developer.
I have no doubts that BioWare is be able to let even a bland MMORPG clone to appear to be innovative, just relying on the hype.
to be perfectly honest I'm not one bit excited for a multiplayer do as the story writer deemed game.
Bioware is going to have write a story very different from how they do so, in their good single player games, for MMO'ers for 90+% of MMOers to care about it.
edit: I meant MMO'ers on this site.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
So many people on this site are going to be completely disappointed when info on this game is finally revealed. But so many MORE (read: the majority of MMO gamers) are going to be completely jazzed by the concept.
Personally, I can't wait to point my finger and laugh at the disappointed who should have known better.

You shouldn't sound surprised DeaconX, that's pretty much all I've ever heard out of him in the past. It's pretty sad to think that there are people out there who like to laugh at other people's misery, pretty cartman-ish. As for those saying Bioware won't bring anything new to the table should really check out some videos on Mass Effect on YouTube (of actual gameplay, not just the pretty video scenes) and then come back and make the same argument. I myself pray to god they'll release Mass effect for PC so I can get it. I don't have a 360 and I can't justify the purchase of one for just one game when the other 360 games I like (Halo, call of duty, KOTOR etc.) I can get for PC too
Now back on topic. I would love it if they made an announcement on new years eve as that would be one of the coolest ways to start the new year with a bang (I say one of the coolest ways, because I do have a life outside of MMO's)
Considering Bioware's trak record with RPG's, and some of the information that has been given to us, I really don't know why any Bioware fan would worry about how the game is going to turn out; no matter what IP they choose.
They have already told us they have hired more writers for this game than any other game they have produced, and are giving them a much longer amount of time to do what they have to.
Bioware could be developing Barney and Friends Online and I would still imagine it would have a really innovative world with a massive amount of story line and potential for exploration.
I personally think it would be cool if they developed a whole new IP for the MMORPG, which would basically allow them to tailor all the lore and story around the type of game mechanics they want to focus on and innovate.

Petty? Yeah, most likely. Will I actually taunt people? No, most likely not.
That doesn't make the inevitable disappointment of a lot of people any less true though. For the record, though, the people of whom I speak probably don't include you (or Bane either) or anyone else that is actually a *BioWare* fan, and knows what to expect from a BioWare title.
The way I see it, there are way too many people following this game not because it will be a BioWare RPG in MMO form, but because they think (hope) it will be the second coming of Star Wars Galaxies. It is those people who are going to act surprised when it comes to pass that:
1. The game will have a mostly linear plot, with classes, levels and no real 'sandboxy' elements
2. The game will be heavily instanced (a la Guild Wars) to accomodate the strong story focus present throughout the game.
Fans of BioWare games will not be disappointed. They will know what to expect. Others *will* be disappointed, however, if they are expecting them to do something different than what they do best.
I hope its got an awsome story, graphics, and real time combat. I could care less about if it has pvp or not as long as it gets me in character being a part of the story and world. And I hope its group focused majority of the game.
Everyone know that everyone only wants to be a jedi, thats what makes KOTOR such a good mmo plan. Who wants to be some sub being in the star wars universe.
I just hope watever bioware announces it will have an engauging rpg element, what is great about bioware rpgs is, you can spend 5 hours just talking to npc and not even realize it, i want tat in an mmo, the actual roleplaying element.

Bah, I've already prepared myself for point 1. They've already stated that. I even read some of the interviews and was disappointed when they used WoW in some cases as a "reference point". I honestly hope that Bioware will follow it's own vision instead. Bah, it almost makes me wish WoW was never created, not because I wish ill on the 9 mill that are enjoying the game. But because WoW has basically dumbfounded potential developers and has stopped any form of real progress and innovation for future MMORPG's. When will developers get it through their thick heads that the BEST way for you to compete is not to re-invent something already in existance (Usually, a lot of those products end up in the Shopping Channel) but instead to invent something completely different so you can STAND OUT from your competition. Oh well
I also honestly hope that it won't be too incredibly instanced as you pointed out with Guild wars. Honestly, while I thought GW was ok for a F2P game. It felt too much like a glorified chatroom and it was even worse when given the option of simply hiring an NPC party. That felt too much like a single player game and that's not what I want out of an MMORPG. I only played for about a month, and since then I haven't played that game for years since I purchased it. DDO also didn't do so well in comparison if my mind serves me well. In fact, didn't Turbine have to eventually setup other bigger world maps where everybody could go as opposed to the heavy instance dungeons? Instances on the scale of GW and DDO simply don't work very well on a game that is supposed to have social interaction with the rest of the players around the world.
Well since EA owns Bioware now, Id just go ahead and expect a mediocre game (although heavily advertised) with TONS of in game advertising. Yup I'm real excited for whatever comes from this.
