Morrowind was originally released on the PC and only somewhat later was it ported to the XBOX.
Oblivion was developed for the 360 but also made to allow a simultaneous release on the PC. It was ported insofar as it was originally developed on the XBOX.
If you have played Morrowind on the PC and Oblivion on the PC (as I have), it should be obvious which game was made with the PC in mind and when game had been developed with the PC as an afterthought.
Oblivion is a worse game than Morrowind in every way but graphics and (some) voice acting, IMO.
As for proof, what other reason can you come up with for the enormous regression in many areas of Oblivion in comparison to Morrowind? UI, plot, travel, various crafting and spell-casting aspects... all were simplified and dumbed down. The UI in particular was CLEARLY made for a console's controller, not a with the functionality of a keyboard in mind.
Oblivion is one of the most disappointing games I've played in the past 5 years... maybe not #1, but definitely somewhere in the Top 5.

again you fail to provide any evidence that the xbox360 is to blame for any simplifications.
also the xbox version of morrowind was released only a month after the PC version.
Not to panic, 2008 will be the year of the MMORPG.
Even as we speak, Derek Smart, John Romero, and Brad McQuade are pooling their talent and putting together the biggest, baddest, most expensive MMORPG yet to hit the market.

I have to agree cause i'm a PC only gamer and have been for sooo long but i couldn't tell one bit that the 360 was Oblivion's lead platform. I loved Oblivion and thought it was the best RPG i've ever played and i normally don't like RPG's due to their combat system like the crappy one in KOTOR and they always feel linear. However in Oblivion it was like GTA fantasy and i loved that and i loved doing all the side quests and never touched the main storyline till the end.
However i will say that the 360 killed Mass Effect, if it was released on the PC it would have been perfect.
When did this forum become infiltrated by so many console hating elitist computer gaming douche bags?
I love console games, but I will freaking tear you a new one at any Battlefield game for the PC..Tell me shooters are toned down for console kiddies? Tell me after I've shot your face off at Battlefield 2 for a few hours. Console games aren't "toned down" they're just not keyboard and mouse like all of you PC loving people prefer...get over it and blame the developers for making a crappy game, not the consoles.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Oblivion did not come out in 2007. I have played Assassin's Creed and do plan on buying it, but i haven't played it enough to comment on whether or not it is my letdown of the year...if I had to pick one game though, based purely on reviews I would have to say Two Worlds. I didn't purchase any bad games this year, I only buy games that I know I'm going to play for a very long time. Right now Call of Duty 4 is my baby.
I might have to add Call of Duty 4 on my list of biggest let downs too... I was sooo pumped for this game.. and it really IS great..
But the most exciting thing for me about it was multiplayer.. but to me the multiplayer gameplay is awesome.. but everything else about COD4 online is so crappy that I sometimes dislike it..
The main gripe i have with it is the lack of stat tracking of any kind.. and after coming off games like Halo3, Resistance and Warhawk... I'm sorry to say that COD4 falls by the wayside.. I think the gameplay of it is frigging awesome.. but there is almost no incentive to KEEP me playing.... the unlockables are cool and all.. but I NEEED STATS!!
Even old games like UT2004 and BF2 had stat tracking... and yet COD4 has let me down in a BIG BIG way..
Now add that to the fact that the single player gameplay just feels cheap most of the time because of the infinite spawns..
Because of all of that COD4 is one of my biggest let downs of 2007
What's your Wu Name? Donovan --> Wu Name = Violent Knight Methane47 --> Wu Name = Thunderous Leader "Some people call me the walking plank, 'cuz any where you go... Death is right behind you.." <i>ME<i>
Bioshock, it was just too...shallow, when i first saw the trailer i thought it would inculde runnin through rapture and exploring etc but ...it was completly diffrent. Oh god and that Atlas was a badguy was just so freakin obvious from the first 5 min of gameplay *would you kindly pick up that radio* uhh yeah kindly, what a fuck.

haha spoiler alert perhaps??
But I definitely agree with you that bioshock was too bland. Very pretty looking game but that's about it.

Doubt there any of those who would be interested in bioshock hasn't already played, and well the rest doesn't really care do they?

What do you mean lack of stat tracking? It tracks your kills, deaths, shots fired, accuracy, win/loss ratio, calculates your kill/death ratio for you, headshots, assists, and even your longest killing streak, and you don't have to visit a separate website to look at all of those stats, they are all readily available, if anything, it's a superior system to Halo's stat tracking.

Neverwinter Nights 2 was a let down for me. I enjoyed the storyline but that's pretty much all I really enjoyed about it. Some of the classes made me go "wtf?' (neverwinter nine...shadow thieves of amn...), the toolset, while great in that you can do so much more is just completely mind boggling for what remains of the nwn2 community. The camera kinda sucked, took waaaay too much resources for only mildly better graphics IMO, and finally, what broke the game, the many, many bugs.
Was it too much to ask for Neverwinter Nights with a graphical update, more powerful yet not completely complex toolset, and a few new stuff here and there? Someone needs to ban Obsidian from making sequels to Bioware RPGs.

All i can think of is Two Worlds. I was looking forward to it... but it honestly sucked imo. Assasins Creed was OK. I didnt put any hype into it...

I..still had to finish the game -_-
- Halo 3 - Well, I expected it to suck just like the others, it offers nothing new.
- Tabula Rasa - Seems unfinished.
- EVE Trinity - the ships hardly look better imo
- HellGate London - not what we expected
- Call of Duty 4 - basically a reskin of 3 with modern day graphics. Same old gameplay.
