They can adjust a game all day, but they can't help the issue between the keyboard and the chair. Played: UO, DAoC, AC, WoW, EVE, TR, WAR, Aion, Rift, SWTOR, GW2, TSW, ESO, Elite:D Play EVE for free for 21 days
Precu SWG definitely my all time favorite. Also the game I roleplayed the most in. I did a lot: pvp, crafting, taming pets, founded a guild, founded a city, rp'd, had a nice house, flew a tie fighter, made tons of friends and some enemies too
1. UO , open sandbox, want a house, boat, then tower and castle, you can want to be a plate wearing magic user with a golf club (war axe) sure. (i still love my PK named Bob Hope)
2. EQ (up to and including planes of power) thought it was great doing the progression to plane of time.
3. Pre-CU swg, lot like UO but with guns and speeder bikes.
Unthoughtunately WoW shows how crap the rest of the genre is when this is the best mmo on offer The first mmo I played was planeside and it was a good game the areas were very bland, and they added these mechs to the game that ruined it if I remeber right.
I dont really have much hope for futures mmos tbh, I was looking forward to pirates of the burning sea because it looked different but it is just as shallow as these other games hell its not even an mmo with all the instancing.
Only hope now is the chronicals of spellborn it does look really different from these other games, but I thought that about pirates of the burning sea as well and look where thats ended up. Oh theres also whatever betheseda is making but tbh after seeing how successful they were by dumbing down the elder scrolls series I don't have much faith that they are miraculously going to make a complex sandbox style MMO like elder scrolls series is for single player games.
I really wish I played computer games back when UO was good. From what it sounds like, I would have absolutely loved the game. I am so incredibly bored with MMO's right now.
swg pre-cu by far the best mmo and its time far far ahead
SOE and NGE-Star Wars Galalaxies: Raph Koster: "It's like dumping the girlfriend who has always been patient and loving to chase after the supermodel who probably won't love you back."
For me it would be a toss up between EverQuest and Lineage 2. EverQuest mainly because it was my first MMO and it had just so much depth that hasn't been matched in any game to this day. The faction system in EQ was unreal in it's attention to detail. Every thing you did in the world had an impact, either good or bad with several different groups and every NPC and mob in the game had some faction tied to it. Also the quests were set up so that not only did you have to actually talk to NPCs to find them(No "!" over their heads) the quests were well thought out so they gave you clues what to do and didn't give you a arrow pointing you to every step along the way so you actually had to think for yourself. Basically though it was my first MMO and you never forget your first love.
Lineage 2 because of the open PvP system set up so while it was possible to attack anyone at anytime killing someone outright had consequences that you had to deal with. Also it has to this day some of the best visuals and world diversity in any game. Anyone that has been to Devils Island, Garden of Eva, Hot Springs, TOI or many other completely different and exotic locals will agree. Also the Character visuals and animations are the best to date of any game and I personally think they stand up against games like AOC and WAR that are still in development. The community in L2 is one of the most mature in any game I've played also as there are serious consequences for being an asshat or just annoying (Like someone killing you repeatedly till you just log out). Overall my many years spent playing L2 were time well spent.
Best MMO iv played was my first, DAoC, played many since but nothing come close to holding my attention, i'd love to see another MMO with the PVP keep raiding that DAoC had, i'd still be playing it if i didnt get a 50 man alb zerg every time i try pvp.
Comments
1. DAoC (by a landslide)
2. EVE
3. WoW / TR

Hands down Eve Online.
It has what I consider to be the best crafting system.
It's Sci-fi and I'm tired of Fantasy.
When I first started Eve I was perhaps the most anti-PvP carebear out there. Eve killed the carebear in me and showed me the fun and glory of PvP.
I absolutely LOVE the way they do skills.
Player content is amazing. I really got into the 0.0 space and corporation/alliance wars and politics.
Eve is the only game where I've ever been/felt useful being a noob and going against veteran players.

pre-cu swg
World of Warcarft
MC raids in WoW with really fun guild - all about the guildmates.
Everquest and the early stages of SWG for sure!
The Saga of Ryzom was the best MMO ever!
Neverwinter Nights on AOL and AC were excellent, also. Currently it's LOTRO

Find a great guild, a good game, and you have a great game.
World of Warcraft
nm - I posted earlier
EQ2 fan sites
pre cu swg is my all time fav then id say earth and beyond my first mmo and still one of my favs
pre-cu star wars galaxies
"You must be either retarded or a fanboi..."
Pre-CU SWG be a wide margin. I have played other MMOs that I really enjoyed (FFXI, EQ2, WoW), but SWG provided the most enjoyment.

EVE-Online, unsharded single game verse with PvP.
lotro!
Played: WoW, Guild wars, Eve, SWG, and more
Asheron's call was the best due to superior gameplay mechanics. WoW is runner up due to better group dynamic and just a solid overall product.
Looking forward to hopefully a Perfect World N.American release.
1. Pre CU-SWG, loved it and miss it so much it still hurts! (had tears in my eyes the other day when I saw through 2 years of screenshots).
2. WoW, just beautiful, fun and polished.
swg pre-cu by far the best mmo and its time far far ahead

UO was the first MMO I tried and still my favorite.
Loved SWG-Pre-CU (always felt like a more restrictive version of UO but still loved it)
and I liked DAoC because of the RvR (tho UO pvp was better imho).

The most fun I had was in SWG pre-cu. That was fun. too damn bad instead of improving the game they screwed it up with every "update"
We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
