Cant answer that to be honest i play the game with music of and always have done with games but i would think the music is still the same friend as a lot of people used to comment on how good it was! so if thats what your gripe is and you cant play without music i would not bother.
Could someone put up a post with questions on the things they want changing and maybe present players can give an honest opinion of what has changed. That way at least players coming back can get a quick heads up of what has changed. i myself can try to answer a few as honestly as i can ( fact is i like the game so i am biased )

Well the fact that you are willing to answer the question`s honestly but biasedly wont have many jumping to ask questions,Besides the free trial starts tomorrow so I think we will just find out for ourselves,Thanks all the same.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"
i see what you mean how most people would take that, but i am sure there are enough iplayers out there that realise every opinion is biased how can an opinion not be biased? dont get me wrong i think i am very honest when it comes to the state of the game, but the fact is i enjoy the game, it's just my style of game i have played eq.eq2 lotro wow and had a little dabble in the online FF game and this i the first game since Everquest that i have really got my teeth into. But at the same time i can give an real honest answer as to why they are giving free time to players that cancelled 60 days ago.
Simple, players that left after GU2 are not going to see much difference with this patch. Yes performance increased slightly, but not enough to make a difference to most pc's! mine seems smoother but has little to no FPS increase. Only khal really got new art work added. i dony suffer much from ctd's in any case so cant comment. Raid content from what i hear has a high ping which can be unplayable, but i am sure they will work that out in the coming weeks.
The best part for me was the class tweaks that they added. Anyone who would love a Ranged Ranger will be dancing if they like the game My ranger has become what i always dreamed him to be his most important equip is his bow.
then again my optimism may be due to the fact that i am currently level 39 and the content available to me is making this game great! there is content and quests galore for me at the moment so yes i am sorry but i am biased!
People dont really understand what biased means around here - your not biased if you just love the game, that is just your opinion, you love the game.
You would only be biased if you had some alterior motive for posting positive comments i.e. if you worked for SOE, or if you were somehow getting a benefit out of posting positive comments (getting paid, etc)
i will be trying it again from tomorrow and I seen my lvl 17 shammy is still waiting for me,If they have improved the FPS and general playabilty of the game and it doesnt CTD every hour or so,Then I will be quite happy but the biggest downside was also the population to say I could play for 8hrs without bumping into another player as the world was so huge and the player base so low when i played is realistic.
This game could be great i thought when i played but it has a huge learning curve with lots of traveling and is always nice to have people to ask questions or indeed watch questions being answered to help you out on your journey,Alas this was missing before but maybe if the game is indeed playable now it will kill 2 birds with 1 stone for me,I can play the game and fully enjoy it and people will come back to the game and do away with my population fears.
I will start to find the answer`s to my question starting tomorrow..
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Well he would be getting something out of being biased..getting more players to play the game which could help him enjoy the game more and help the game as a whole,So yes he was right to state he could be biased.

That's my only concern. I loved when I played back in beta but didn't buy because I thought the pops would be low. I really didn't want to spend the time playing if I could hardly ever group or by the time I hit max level, no one was playing. So I'll be curious how that goes for you.
Anyone else with experience on the seradon server, I'd like to hear how the population is.
3. LFG & LFM interfaces have been brought upto industry standards.
4. Looking for Guild functions have been added.
5. Brotherhoods have been added.
6. Class tuning & enhancements have been added.
7. Quests in the lower end have been added with URT lines and some new area's in qalia. This is mostly focused on the low end to lvl 20 or so.
8. Quests have been added into the high end 40+ game. This area was devoid of content at release and now several zones and dungeon area's have been opened and quests added.
9. Crafting has been enhanced with more recipes.
10. Decomps are now doable by anyone not just crafters and dusts and rare crafting ingredients are more readily available.
11. Many crafting bugs have been removed.
12. Diplomacy quests have been added and higher level diplomacy quests.
13. Diplomacy bag has been added to help hold some of the information you gather.
14. Raid UI & content has been added.
15. EE for equiping items has been replaced with straight lvl limits. ie a weapon will indicate that it requires a minimum lvl of 20 to equip. Same applies to diplomacy and crafting gear.
16. Diplomacy is on a level system now.
17. Grouping bugs are gone. ie you don't have people droping out of groups at random and not being reinvitable.
18. Chunking is more stable and memory leaks associated with chunking are gone. Chunking speed has improved as well.
19. Most gear is BOE.
20. Death penalties have been reduced with all equipment respawning with you and the tombstone is summonable with a small xp penalty.
21. Rested experience has been added. So camping at an outpost gives you excelerated xp gain when you log back in.
22. Exp gain for crafting has been increases.
23. You gain some xp from crafting actual items.
Thats a list that I can think of right now of things that have changed since release. I'm sure there are more that people can add to this list so that people coming back have some idea what has changed since they left.
a pointless post,The fact that SOE are giving old user`s a trial is so people like myself can judge the game again and see if it is for them or not so they dont have to listen to fanboi`s or hater`s,If you dont want to give the game another try then dont use it,It really is that simple.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

I already tried that. I figured that not getting an answer was an answer in itself. Anyway, I'll be able to check these peoblems out myself in a day or two.
First of all, the way I see it "more than 60 days" means if you canceled your account less than 60 days ago, you won't get the free trial as you probably wouldn't notice too much of a difference anyway. The rest of us who canceled way before that (I left in April, btw) will notice significant changes, so we might be tempted to another go at a great game with some major flaws now that the major flaws are mostly gone and it doesn't cost us anything to try anyway as we already have the game in the first place. You say what you want about such a tactic, but it tells me two things right away.
1. The developers (and SOE) not only love the game and are willing to dedicate time and money into it even if it was released too soon, and they clearly love the fans and want to apologize to us. This is a great thing. How often haven't you seen a great game with a lot of potential ruined by a lot of bugs, and the only answer you get from the developers is "Sucks to be you. We got your money anyway."? No names need mentioning. *cough* BioShock *cough*
2. SOE, for better or worse, is willing to try a new tactic to get our money. So what if they give us some free trial with our game again? It doesn't cost them anything, as we are just random players just like everyone else. If I canceled a year ago and Bob just got the game, we both get our free trial and can choose for ourselves if we want to keep playing. If we do, Bob has to buy the game, and I already did. This means SOE will make less money from me as I didn't buy a second copy, but the initial cost is just a small part of it. It's the subscription is where the real money is. By letting me try the game again, I can see how much it has changed and choose for myself if I want to return or not. At least it's better for SOE than ignoring me and sending me off to a non-SOE game and having me pay my subscriptino to a competitor. MMORPG's are business just like any other business, and SOE just like everyone else cares first of all about the money. But is this a bad thing? Deep down, I don't think so. In fact, I think it's a great thing. I loved Vanguard back when I played it at release, and although it had bugs, they never bothered me that much. What did bother me was extremely powerful enemies early on forcing me into a group I couldn't find as there weren't any other players around (seriously, after two months playing at least a few hours a day, I found three groups, and two of them didn't know what they heck we were supposed to be doing and just went grinding). There were other issues as well, of course, like no visible headgear, an empty world with not much in it and so on. By letting me come back now and see how much it has changed free of charge, I just might stay for good this time.
And besides, I remember one time my raki sorceress found some strong enemies and blasted one with a big fireball, only to accidentally hit another one I couldn't see in the tall grass. Seriously, I couldn't see it at all until it charged at me, and one alone would be bad enough. Two... well, let's just say my feet hurt a bit afterwards from all the running... That's just a completely random moment from my time in Vanguard, and it's one of the coolest ones I have ever experienced in a MMORPG ever. I can't wait to return!
I just came back a couple weeks ago and I can honestly say for me, it's got me hooked. I haven't played in months until just recently and the performance has increased substantially with these past game updates. And there are definitely more and more people showing up in-game now. I haven't had any real issues getting into dungeons or joining EXP groups.
If your new or old, I'd say give it a shot and see if its your cup'O'tea. I can say that I am having a blast on my rogue right now. I will admit the first 10 levels were not very exciting, but now things are just cruising for me with all the rogue crafting and diplomacy and general crafting.
If your looking for a server to join, or have an old character with a free transfer still available, I'd recommend checking out the Seradon server. From what I can gather, Seradon is the more popular server I believe.
Don't believe what everyone says, whether it's good or bad (that includes me). Try it for yourself and make your own decision. Only you can decide.
I was just thinking how I wanted to see how the game is doing now. I will definitely give the free-play time a try, especially since I will be getting my new 8800 gts for christmas.
I bought this game when it came out, only have a XP2000 system. The game ran okay, around 20fps with sound off. The game sucked so I stopped playing. Then I got a new rig, AMD 3600x2 with an 8600. A lot of people from my guild told me the game is much better and I should come back. So I did, while I was back they merged a few servers so the pop was up, the only problem is the game still sucks. I remember when this game was in development, I was feed so much BS that I kept asking for more. Then I got into beta and the game was GREAT, for a beta. Then it went live. The game was a lot of fun, for a game that just launched. Then the truth started to hit me, the game isn’t fun. Huge open worlds, tons of races/classes and nothing to do. I once posted on this site I would play this game for free, and I’m not going to. This game could have been but the truth is it isn’t and I don’t think it ever will be. I’m not going to try to tell you what game is better or what you should play, it’s just this isn’t a good game. It was doomed from the get go and I can’t see it getting better. SoE has other games coming out and I can’t see them sticking with this one for too much longer. Soon it will be pushed to the back with the Matrix and planet side. That’s just my two cents, I’m not looking to start a fight and I’m sorry if I offended you.
Thats alright, apart from you saying it sucks, because it does not. You simply don't seem to like the sandbox style of gameplay which this game has. And it has quite a lot of content now.
But your post is still alright, because you do not dislike this game due to bugs or poor performance but due to not liking the gameplay and that is very much a matter of taste. This is what I said in another post, I believe that now VG is in a state where you will or will not like it due to gameplay reasons and not due to it being unfinished.
i liked the game, but it wasnt exactly a full sand box to me, to me a full sandbox is a game where u r not limited much, but this is "Class" based, so its limiting u from the start, but i still liked it, ill give it another shot
On the offiacal forums an admin has said he thinks it will be after the server restarts which happens in just over 3 hours.
