A lot of people from my guild told me the game is much better and I should come back. So I did, while I was back they merged a few servers so the pop was up, the only problem is the game still sucks. I remember when this game was in development, I was feed so much BS that I kept asking for more. Then I got into beta and the game was GREAT, for a beta. Then it went live. The game was a lot of fun, for a game that just launched. Then the truth started to hit me, the game isn’t fun. Huge open worlds, tons of races/classes and nothing to do. I once posted on this site I would play this game for free, and I’m not going to. This game could have been but the truth is it isn’t and I don’t think it ever will be. I’m not going to try to tell you what game is better or what you should play, it’s just this isn’t a good game. It was doomed from the get go and I can’t see it getting better. SoE has other games coming out and I can’t see them sticking with this one for too much longer. Soon it will be pushed to the back with the Matrix and planet side. That’s just my two cents, I’m not looking to start a fight and I’m sorry if I offended you.

But your post is still alright, because you do not dislike this game due to bugs or poor performance but due to not liking the gameplay and that is very much a matter of taste. This is what I said in another post, I believe that now VG is in a state where you will or will not like it due to gameplay reasons and not due to it being unfinished.

well maybe u should read closer, i know what a sandbox is, but if u learn to read, it will say in my first post, that it wasnt exactly a full sand box to "ME", or in other words, my personal opinion is that a true sandbox is Skill based, not lvl based. i played SWG from release to NGE, i know what a sandbox is, and still to this day SWG Pre-NGE was the best one.

No big surspise here. I can definately give them some lattitude since it is about 175,000 accounts they are going to be flagging. Most of those won't be returning, but they agreed to give all of them the option, so give them a little time.
i jsut tried to log on about 10 mins now and still says i need to subscribe to play it, I just want to see how things are going and go back to playing my all time favorite non mmo game, theres no mmo out there that has my interests right now...
ok lets get this right..Today was supposed to be the day that old players(account not used in 60 days or more) got the chance for a free 15 day trial,What did happen is for the 1st 6 hours no word at all from a mod or admin on the site to what was going on,Then a post saying"we have alot of accounts to switch back on"then the next 4 hours passed and not 1 person out of the 2k guests on line had there account switched on,in between this there was 1 or 2 trolls that were members saying "just pay to play"sort of things until someone got told that it wouldnt be until tomorrow(wednesday) that these old accounts would be swiched on,Another thing that was really strange was a few guys said that there old SWG accounts and been switched back on for a trial but there VG accounts were still closed....I have since paid for my old account to be switched on as I really want to try the game again and see for myself,I already have my opinion on SOE in the forums(it hasnt changed) and maybe 1 or 2 people that think they love the game by putting other potential subs down,I will just judge the game on its on merits and the community also.

I just tried as well, and yes i have a 2 week nonrecurring swg time still , think that was for vets awhile back, as for vanguard, theres a huge que so its gonna take time i was reading, i cant wait grrrrrrr
What horrible timing on SOE's part. Even if I did want to go through the hassle of reinstalling, I simply won't have time in the play-period they're allowing to fully experience anything. They probably should have waited until after the holidays when everyone would have had more free time (or at least given more time like the free trial of EQ2 they gave us former Vanguard players earlier this year).
I just think that, if they were planning to allow old time players come back in, they should have allowed all the old accounts to be opened before December 18th THEN make it public today the 18th, with that said they wouldn't have this so called problem if they "knew" there were so many accounts to be activated...O well, I'll jsut have to wait like everyone else...

I have to agree. Considering the scale they are working with, seems it would have been easier to remove the restrictions rather than flag all the old accounts. Although, that does have other implications (buddy accounts, old spam accounts, etc.), and could be something they considered but decided to avoid those ramifications.
Oh well, at least I have learned to have patience (SOE may have taught me that in fact).
Everything is going as planned. Right now the accounts are in the process of being activated by an automated process that does them in batches. It may take a bit more than a day for everyone's accounts to be activated, but they are not losing time because the timer starts from the moment the returning player activates. So everyone wins, it's just a matter of letting the system get them all in!
Sorry that we didn't reply on this earlier. Ellyra is out for the holiday and I wanted to overly validate the details before I posted them and added any confusion. Hopefully I didn't!
Update:
Scratch that information. The team flipping the switches hit a snag they didn't expect and we are changing our plans to adapt and best serve the returning players. The accounts will be reactivated tomorrow, and we are going to keep them open until the 17th of January (200 as a means of making sure everyone gets a chance to get in. Sorry for the confusion and fast change of plans, but we want to make sure everyone gets to come back to Vanguard, and ensure that the snag does not cut anyone's time short!

Skill-based = Level-based with no level indicator in the UI. You probably mean Class-based.

I just decided to give Vanguard another chance, I was in Beta and Final.
And it seems after reading the forums it will be online and in affect today, no time specified though.
