The Ultimatum

It's come to this...

A website is about to launch that will be a PERMANENT archive of all the lies, incompetence, and worse by SOE vs the SWG player.

Such as Smed's "The CU is here to stay".

Think of it as the threat your teachers used to use on you about "this will go into your PERMANENT RECORD"...  That is what this will be.

The way to head this off:

First off Pre NGE classic servers have to be announced as coming.

(this is non negotiable)

Secondly, John Smedley must resign.

(he can stay only if he releases a YouTube video singing the Calvin and Hobbes "I'm sorry" song) Otherwise he has to go.

This is as fair a deal as SOE will ever get.

And it will have about as much influence on them as that "permanent record" does to most people: none.

Unfortunately I must agree with grunty.

Smedley is a sociopath.  No need to appeal to his better nature.  There is none to appeal to.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Only way it would work is if maybe we had evidence Smed used performance enhancing steroids.   But since we know how he performed during the precu, cu, nge transition, I am doubtful this is the case.

At any rate, barring this, Smed is untouchable.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Those who still hang on to old SWG are like those who stalk their girlfriends 3 years after they broke up with you....it's just creepy.

Do you really think that your actions will truly affect SOE's direction they take SWG? Nope.....none what so ever. If 200k people cancelling hasn't, whats website with sayings that we ALL know by heart by now going to do? Nadda, zip, zero, zilch.

The way to head this off?  I'm sure a lawsuit will do just fine ;)

Well, if we can get some SOE intern to have oral sex with him, that might just do the trick.

Driving a major component of the business into the ground is obviously not enough to force change.

Let the numbers do the work for you. You can only push debt  out so far before it comes knocking on your door. You can only cut back staff so much to rework profits margins until the numbers catch up with you.  I do think its time to let go of the  past with SWG. It is not coming back. I miss it and I enjoy posting about it . But there are better games than the current SWG such as Eve  Online. Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online, Guild Wars, City of heroes/villians, Final Fantasy, ,World of WarCraft, and so forth. Sure I miss the professions and the freedom of the skill system. I miss the fact that every NPC city used to be full of players. But those days are gone.  That is why you either play SWG or you don't. But money talks through numbers and debt can only be pushed for ex amount of time.  I do have to wonder how Sony Japan takes SOE into account. Does anyone know?

Geez, get a hobby. All it takes is one unfounded remark (and I haven't seen a SOE hater yet who hasn't thrown out a couple before) and SOEs' lawyers would smack the sites owners so hard it'd make their head spin. Not to mention a few pissed off kids crying "ultimatum!!" having any impact on SOE at all is friggin' laughable. I'm sorry, anyone still thinking up cockeyed ways to stick it to SOE for SWG after over 2 years since the NGE hit should seriously think about seeking professional medical help.

That is one of the best examples of this dead horse.  Get over it, move on.

So do I as I'm sure many others do. It's just inevitable that post-NGE SWG will be compared to it's previous incarnations, particularily when it's previous incarnations were seen as being supierior.

I find this subject to be fascinating to watch. Kind of like a train wreck or plane crash. No matter how sad it is you just can't pry your eyes from it.

Not learning from it either will lead to a disaster.

Positively contribute to the current direction of the game

    or

Forget about it and move on

..and no the current direction is very unlikely to be shutting down, at least not anytime soon. If people were able to just take off their rose-tinted glasses they may be able to see that swg is pretty damn good game thats improving and still offers many things wihich no other game out there does (aside from being a SW mmo)

I support the idea of keeping this topic alive for the purpose of reminding SOE, the industry and gamers everywhere of the disaster and pain the NGE brought down on all parties. There must be institutional memory burned so deep that another NGE never again happens.

Then along comes posts like this one, where someone seizes the opportunity to wave his over-inflated ego around like a soiled bedsheet, strutting about the forums making pointless declarations, and crowing like an impotent rooster.  This is the point when the whole thing becomes immeasurably silly and I am forced to shout –

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! GET OVER IT!! TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE LIKE YOUR MOTHER ASKED!!! GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!!!!

Thank you. I am much better now.

I gotta agree. That is a pretty funny quote.

    Sad, yet still funny.

Screw SOE. I wouldn't go back even if they tried to bring pre-NGE back. I'd rather wait and see what Bioware is making!

What was that, that Smed had said before?

Wait for it, wait for it.

Oh yeah! "The CU is here to stay" Guess he must've meant some other CU because the CU they implemented went the way of the dinosaurs with the NGE. Sorry, but after being deceived not once but twice, I find it hard to believe that Smed will really make the NGE "stay" since he said the same thing for the CU and look at what happened.
