NO FISHING..????? wow, see ya later" NCSoft is only supplying ppl with a quick hit of crack (MMOs) that are lacking in quality. L2 is GARBAGE... Wow, i would say its the other way around. Yes NCSoft is destroying the mmorpg as we know it. And thats a good thing. The mmorpg as we know it is grind based, where the fun only comes from achieving.... thats not ok, thats like doing a job you hate for money. Grind= old fashioned.
And also, you think NCSoft WANTS to make sub-par games? Don't make me laugh... the goal of every mmorpg publisher is to get lots of subscribers that stay for a long time. If you ask me, Blizzard and SoE are the ones making a MMO only for the money, by sticking to safe, industry model designs and riding the popularity of their names and franchises.

Are you trying to suggest that NCSoft's recent MMOG games (such as Lineage 2 and City of Heroes) are not a level grind?

Obviously anyone who suggested that hadn't actually played CoH, cause that game is just grind grind grind, particularly after level 10. There really isn't much else to do but missions and killing baddies. It can be fun, but it doesn't offer a huge variety.

WTF are you talking about?? Sure it has great graphics but what the hell does that matter when the gameplay is pure and utter garbage! Theres a reason PC Gamer gave it 61% and its because there is NO gameplay! You go from one monster to the next just killing and killing and killing, not to mention the enemy AI is completly non-exitant! Ever "hostile" monsters pretty much stand 5 feet away from you while you kill his freind until its his turn to die. Where is this gameplay youre talking about? There is none! One of my friends quests involved killing 70-100 bears so that some stupid spirit bear would come, then guess what, you kill it! Weee! Not to mention the release product is still pretty much a beta version since it didnt even include castle sieges, basically the only decent thing about the game, and it only came out what? a couple days ago, if it even is. I dont tihnk i even have to menton the scammers/Adena whores/bots and all that other crap since its already been mentioned countless times before.
And replayability? Its the same goddamn thing over and over and over.
Thats where all this "pill of shit" is coming from.
they needa make a game where its not just -click target.lock on target, attack, use skills.
id like to see a game where u can actaully control ur character and be able to dodge the attacks yourself(dodgeing attacks would make the game to easy, so they should make it extremley hard to dodge attacks yourself but possible) instead of stupid fortitude rolls or w/e and actually be able to swing your weapon yourself
Are you trying to suggest that NCSoft's recent MMOG games (such as Lineage 2 and City of Heroes) are not a level grind?
No. Those games are grind games for sure. My point, was that they are taking risks with games like Guild Wars and Tabula Rasa. Not pussying out like EA and pulling the plug on promising looking projects.
I wish NCsoft would (if they could) buy he rights to Ultima from EA and finish UXO. Such a shame to let a game go to waste so far into developement. If EA wasnt so damn retarded it would be without question that Beta would already be underway if they hadnt disbanded Origins...
Is it just me or does EA seem VERY content to continually screw us Ultima fans over?
Oh please! Your game is still going they canned mine and laughed all the way to the bank! E&B was nothing more then Westwood's dirty laundry to EA. They wanted the C&C name that was it.
My game? Sorry, if youre refering to UO, for many of us UO is dead, its not what it used to be. UXO was my game, but now it will be nothing more than a memory. Sorry about E&B, we all have reason to hate EA.
Funny tho how UXO was canned just days after the last UO expansion pack. And one of the poorest excuses of an expansion. A sixth char slot...oooooh. A reward item wich BTW is also a gift choice that is to be given out in september for all other players because of their 7th annv. And Ultima9, to help promote interest in UXO. This last UO expansion was a ditch effort to pull an extra $20 outta the players pocket.
They've pulled the devs from UXO to work on the next major 'exciting' expansion for UO. Their last major expansion really hurt the game. I've heard the devs before say how many exciting things would be in the future of UO. And to date I'd hafta say the game was better and more fun 5 years ago when I started than what it is now.
With so many other titles threatening UO I'm surprized that they canned the only MMORPG they had that would have competed win the market.
They'll hafta pull a dragon outta their a$$ in order to make up for their blind stupidity.

i bought it simple cuz i wanted Asension i lost my other copy somehow but The Holy sword is a pretty decent item, this is one thing that i have to say really sux though
A great heart surgeon can also be a lousy engineer.
Thats basically EA for you. They seems to make some genre very well but as far as i am concerned as awful when it comes to mmorpg.Espically on the decision making aspect.
Dropping UOX was a smart move. The fantasy MMORPG market is saturated as is.
The real problem is that the industry is in a rut. The only proven money machine has been the DIKU-mud EQ clones. But there are already enough of those out there that attracting a new, stable player base will take a lot of advertising money if that's all you got. Garage-shop productions that offer new gameplay styles, like Jumpgate or Shadowbane, haven't done too well either.
So one of two things has to happen: either one of the big name studios like SOE or Mythic has to take a chance and re-define not only the genre but the gameplay mechanics, or we have to wait on a smaller studio to make 'the next killer MMORPG' and hope that it catches on.
As always I will include my usual caveat: make an adult game with adult content such as sex and violence, set it in a genre besides fantasy or sci-fi, and you have a liscence to print money.

Money...that's all EA thinks about.
Schonk 22 Reaver - Horizons
Icedeath 50 Ice Wizard - DAoC
Schonk 48 Hunter - DAoC
Schonk Bounty Hunter - SWG
Schonk 20 Monk - FFXI
Schonk 48 ShadowKnight - EQ
Yes EA has made good games...
But what is its record with mmorpgs? I believe thats whats being referred to as "sucking" here.
