Let’s just pretend it is for a second that Darkfall does come out after a very well done and successful beta. The games graphics while not Crysis like are still very good. It is very polished and it contains all the features like player housing, player sieges, tons of professions, open pvp, full loot pvp, etc like the devs have said it will have. Would you play it?
I, personally would but I am wondering would other people?

If I'm going to engage in daydream fantasies I'd rather ponder what I'd do with lottery winnings.
They should rename Darkfall into "Darkfall: Revenge of the Vaporware"
At this rate, any game that actually had a successful beta tons of people would definitely play.

If it comes out , I m going to church again and begin saying my Hail Mary's. You know about 20 hours after its annouced Earth will be hit by a giant space rock , we ll all goto Hell , where the only games you can play are WoW or Lineage 1.
Since its hell , AeroSmith or Green Day will be playing 24/7 until the end of time. Or worst yet , they ll tape our eyes open , forcing us to watch Ellen dance nake to Michael Bolten music.
Assuming it came out.
Assuming it wasant too bugged.
Assuming It delivers at least 50% of what was promised.
AND if i ignored its graphics [which are getting on a bit]
Then i may give it a go.
Of course ive yet to see any evidence any of this will happen.

If DF is released......then i would become one of those weird MMO addicts you read about on the news. One of those persons you would go and say "damn, thats really sick" about.
Thats me.
Irrelevant. Everyone knows Darkfall is nothing more than vaporware. As one poster mentioned, if I'm going to day dream, I'd rather day dream that Jessica Alba would actually be interested in going out with me.
It would depend on a lot of things. I won't play an full loot, open PvP that has a loot model similar to WoW.
Not that I expect Darkfall to be a gear grind game if it were ever actually releases, but the point is that things like that are key interactions between features.
Anyone who thinks open pvp or full loot is an independent stand alone feature is a fool. Anyone who sits here and says they only play a full loot pvp game without putting in qualifications about gameplay is the sort of fool who signs contracts without reading them.
Obviously you havant played EvE. It works pretty well.

I think many gamers feel this way tbh. The problem is games like WoW and other level based games where Full loot PvP does nothing other than leave a bad taste in the mouth, win or lose.
When done well there is no other gaming experience like it, win or lose.

No EvE has a fine loot paradigm. I never said full loot was bad, but in some circumstances you would have to be a fool to play game with full loot.Obvisouly you need to reconsider what is actually obvious since I currently have an EvE account.
So let me ask you a question. Will the items in Darkfall be a long a similar line to the items in EvE? The fact is you don't know. No one knows.
And anyone who says that full loot PvP is great when they do not know the loot and equipment paradigm is a fool. That isn't an opinion it is simply that natural conclusion when approached logically. The two are obviously intrinsically tied together.

I only take the loot versus full loot since it is the most easily talked about item that illustrates feature indepence. There other more nebulous concerns will open PvP. For example the professions. In EvE they have a swappable role mechanics. That being the ability to switch ships. But clearly Darkfall will have a locked down profession mechanic.
How interdependent will pofessions be? Will I have to sit around in some safe house until I can find a healer to keep my warrior alive? Will my small guild be crippled because the only healer logs in once a weak whereas in EvE we could have just swpapped out ships around?
Will the groupiong mechanics make lone survivability impossible the way it has become in the EQ2 gankfest?
How will spawn points work? Will you actually be able to control a place like in EvE. Or will it be a bunch of idiots with some fantasy that they actually affect anything like in EQ2 PvP. Simply because they have no way to actually kick people out of places?
How will they balance area control versus the necessity of allowing people to actually play.
In Eve you lose your ship, you lose your role. You can have 5 trillion skill points and that don't mean jack without a ship. Even if you spawn over and over you will eventually be rendered to complete impotence and essentially "classless" if you zerg someone. What is Darkfalls mechanic for this? If my profession is a mage of some sort I could lose all my equipment and possible still zerg AoE someone. Is that really "open PvP" no its just a farce.
I would give it a try, but I doubt it would keep my attention more than a couple months. I like participating in FFA PVP, but I like doing other things as well. FFA PVP by itself is simply not enough. I would save my money for a game that let you do many different things.

If it was free to download and free to play then why not.
However, I wouldn't be surprised when I walk out the town gate for the very first time and get ganked(which, by the way, has has happened to me several times in the past in several different games).
Course, the game in turn shouldn't be surprised when it's uninstalled 5 minutes later.
i'll wait till DarkFall's P2P mode fails,ala Fury
then play for free...
Yes I would probably try it out. Even though the question is irrelevant as it's highly illogical such thing would ever occur.
So all it has to do now is come out- I'd be so there.
Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.
I cant believe some speak about classes and professions in a Darkfall thread? Its playerskill that will matter. So there is no classes or xp.
And could we forget the Wow style item grind.....full loot in DF have nothing to do with WoW.
I'll check out Darkfall when I go to pick up my copy of Duke Nukem Forever.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
There has to come a point when that joke isn't funny anymore shirly.

How about we compare it to something more like Mourning? Where the game doesn't function, never functioned, and has changed hands like 3 dozen times?

I would not play Darkfall even if it did come out and, miraculously, was good.
Why not? Simple.
I do not give my money to companies I do not like and mistrust when I can avoid it. Aventurine is a terrible company that has strung people along for years. Yes, some delays happen, but this thing has had a promised beta for around three years now. They also seldom release any information to keep their project relevant and interesting. There are not obligated to do so, no, but it shows they really do not care much about their potential customers in a market where so many other companies do. It takes only a few minutes to snap some screenshots. It takes a few more to capture some gameplay in movie form.
In short, the company is getting nothing from me, even on the extremely low chance this cloud of vapour takes shape into something playable.
I would and will, because I actually bothered reading up on the different features about the game instead of asking questions that are answered in the FAQ or on the forums.
People will play any game like the one you described. Why bother to call it Darkfall? You could call it Gobbledeegook the MMORPG, and if it's like you described, people would play it.
Probably at this point "Darkfall" isn't really an actual game, like Warhammer, but the idea of a fun game with interactive features and sandbox elements. Sure, everyone is looking forward to some "Darkfall" games being released.

Isn't that the truth. AOC or WAR push their dates back one more time and folks will start to really wonder about their viability as well.

Actually, this is quite possible, if not probable, I always plan defensively when leaving safe zones in FFA PVP games (run like the wind). It is a different mindset, you have to think defensively at times, and I frequently roll stealth classes for a first character just to reduce the number of times I'm ganked while exploring the world. DF won't have classes, but if there's a stealth ability I'll grab it.

Hey folks, we all know that DF is oft -delayed and probably will never see the light of day. However the OP asked a simple question, if the game actually released, and if it delivered on the features promised, would you actually play it? Its FFA, full loot design will not appeal to everyone, in fact, history so far has gone against this play style.
The poll result look decent, seems to be some interest. Let's just hope for the sake of the DF fans the game actually comes out.
Me, I'm just going to play the first decent game that gets released this year as I'm getting pretty bored.
