Neither. EVE is a corrupt game. Read about the past scandals where devs were caught cheating for their friends and rigging events. For those dev friends there's no risk really when the company is propping you up. For others, you're playing a rigged game so it's pointless.
To the player who mentioned picking a melee class if he wanted to melee, and flying frigates if he was going to take those skills... what you're not taking into account is the fact that in a linear game, if you choose a melee class, you're stuck with that class. If you want to do something else, you have to create an entirely new character, thus losing anything you might have gained with your current character.
In EVE, if you want to fly frigates at first, but decide you want to do something else later, you are perfectly capable of simply taking the next set of skills for a different ship class. The bonus of this is that you will always have those frigate skills to return to at a later time if needed. No switching between characters, no starting from scratch. It allows you to use your current skills to help you progress to a different set of skills financially.
Edit: And to the above poster - Stop bringing up something that took place AGES ago. If it was such a big deal, why is BoB losing right now? Why has The Alliance diminished to only a few notable groups now?
Yeah, it was a big deal then, but it was taken care of and has no current effect on the goings on in the universe. You're living in the past, when you should be focusing on the fact that the group that -got- the unfair advantage is now losing and is nearly extinct.
