I don't know what "wounder" means, but it can't be good for anyone involved.  You crazy kids and your antics.

The game has been out for 3 days now.

Day One : The first day of release there was an unnoticable increase in player numbers.

Day Two : There was a noticeable increase in numbers and activity in nation chat. Everyone seemed to be content with the game and were focused solely on helping the war effort and joining the economy.

Day Three: Very noticable increase, a large number of lower levels players as everyone is finally recieving their games in the mail. Very Heavy and Heavy loads of players on 3 or 4 servers, along with Medium loads scattered throughout the others. Players in game remain content, with little contest.

According to you, skip 3 days, and find your self......... here....... on day  three seven

    >> Fast Forward

Day Seven: New players are very disappointed and leave.

Yeah, I would trust the people that are actually in the game more than the people who are on the forums...as the people playing are kinda the ones...y'know...playing...

As an aside, there's bound to be people who get the game and find out they don't like it, complain, and quit. It's just like anything else new, people have to try it first to see if they like it, and not everyone likes it. That in no way means it's a bad game.

    It released 01/22 its now 01/25 lets do some math. 5 - 2 = 3

    Thats 3 not 7

    Thats 3 not 6

No matter what you do, you cant make that anything but 3.

The FLS staff was very cool about it, said it wasnt supposed to happen, and to file a ticket for it to get taken care of.

There was a douche bag player at the beginning... but can anyone name a game that doesnt have a few aholes in it?

Wow. 3, dude, 3. 1.. 2.. 3. Not 1.. 2.. 5. You don't like the game, then don't play. Don't ruin everyone's night who has the misfortune to read your mindless, pointless rants. I do find it somewhat amusing that you have so much trouble with simple addition and subtraction, though.

Nah, FLS handles it okay. It just amazes me sometimes how ignorant in their fanboism some people ( the "douchebag" ) can be.

  • VetarniasVetarnias Member UncommonPosts: 630

Still, I think the developers will need to seriously consider reducing the number of servers if the severely low numbers on most of them continue for another couple of weeks (though I doubt that will happen that quickly; the parties involved need to save face on the real success of the game).

With the exception of Rackham, Roberts, Blackbeard and occasionally Antigua it's basically All Light, All Day.  The German server also seemed to get decent numbers in their prime time.  Better make the consolidation sooner rather than later if you can't switch your characters from one server to another.

And they will also have to address the disproportionate numbers for factions to avoid making the French and Spanish the perennial losers of the game (I play French on Blackbeard, by the way).

its three days into the game, tonight lots of the servers were getting fuller.

My server peaked at over 1200 tonight (Morgan)

I have to agree here, particularly on this message board.  With the exception of a few, most people who are "fanbois" will tell you that if you don't like the game it's because you're either playing it wrong or just haven't reached a high enough level.

    kind of ridiculous.

Then when a legit player posts a bug that is making it unplayable for them...same players post how great the experience is for them, no bugs at all, bug free and care free...instead of actually looking at the forums/knowledge base of that game to see "wow...this really is a known bug...here's the fix".

Little bit of shame on the "blind fans" for that, btw.  If you want to promote your game, learn it...faults and all.  Don't tell people that because their ship WON'T SAIL AT ALL, it's the result of their own PC when, in fact, it's a known bug of POTBS since prior to the end of beta...with a known fix on the knoweledge base...that you don't provide.

I'm a huge fan of my own game, I understand getting defensive...but own what you play...good and bad.  Quit telling people they're either too stupid to enjoy your game, didn't play it enough, or didn't have a sophisticated enough system to play it smoothly.

  • rshandlonrshandlon Member Posts: 173

Also, Fanbois consider too that there was a prerelease launch or have you apparently forgotten that.  The game launched on the 22nd, but was available for pre-orders before that.

I tested the game for awhile till bout midway through and the controls were too clunky.  The Avatars (though I have heard they are better now) were a sad addtion to the game including the combat and avatar missions.  You don't even come close to feeling immersed in a MMO type game because of the instancing of practically everything in the game.  I am not sure of the bug situation now to comment on that, but they had a very healthy dose then and hope they got a handle on those.  The performance of the game on machines they said were mid range for the client is very very poor.

I could list others, but no need when the game was pushed out too early just like almost every single MMO in history with the exception of 2 notables.......WoW and LoTRO.  Both of which are very successful now.   The game originally looked to be a great Pirate era naval MMO type game and the vocal minority got their wishes and Flying Labs added in too much Avatar stuff and ended up concentrating on a First Person game with a side of Ship stuff.   Only time will tell whether they get the handle on it and I wish them luck, but the direction it took just pushed me away as it did others.

  • PyrostasisPyrostasis Member UncommonPosts: 2,293

Leaving after 7 days was in reference to game launch. Not bugs being left in.

Most folks didnt get the game till release. The numbers in the game window pretty much confirm that.

Granted, there are bugs and issues... but to me its a good game, to others its not. POTBS and EVE have a lot of similar components, but POTBS is a bit easier to get into. Thats what appeals to me.

Though I had real reasons not to continue, the OP is a joke and crying because he can't post on a forum or got warnings.  Then thinks if he comes here it will matter..............................

I agree with the avatar combat. It was definitely rushed in.

And while some may think I'm just saying this, anyone who knows what game I'm going to mention here will back me on it: play the game Tortuga: Two Treasures. FLS directly ripped off that game as far as avatar combat, and the ship combat is eerily similar also.  Board a ship, ignore the crew, run up and kill the captain, you win. Even the avatars themselves are similar, but more polished in T:TT.
