I am back to WoW as well. I tried EVE online but the primitive enemy AI, lack of content, and lousy community drove me back.
I wish someone would make a game as good as WoW. The lack of decent options is depressing.
How would you respond if i came to WoW forums and whine about the lack of any decent PvP-option?
You came to Eve in the thought it would give you decent PvE? Well..it actually has a decent amount of hard PvE in the 0.0-Regions, but fact is, that it is almost exclusively a PvP-Game. Eve focuses around territorial control. If you come there for the PvE you will be disappointed for the same reason i would be disappointed in WoW for the lack of interesting crafting and meaningful PvP.
WoW has much better PvP than EVE, IMHO. I can go into a battleground for many fast-paced battles and people can rampage around destroying opposing towns if they want, they just can't gank low level players while doing so.
Last night some kids with 70's trashed the Blood Elf newbie town, killing the guards, the shopkeepers, the tradeskill teachers, the quest-NPCs, down to the frogs and the rats. If WoW was like UO, my wife and I (and all of the other new characters) would have been killed as well and all of our stuff taken. As WoW doesn't let the roving gangs of kids kill and loot the mature players, the mature players don't quit. The kids get to have fun vandalizing stuff and we get to have fun questing. Score 30 more dollars a month for Blizzard and 30 less dollars a month for EVE.
WoW's a good game but there isn't really that much content, games like Lotro, EQII, and GuildWars have more and better content. WoW beats EQII and Lotro through having better PvP while it's advantage over GuildWars is having alot less instancing.
I have tried all of these games and some and I have purchase GW. WOW beat all of them not because of content but because of polish. Everything just works SO WELL in WOW.
I have hardly touched GW beyond the first training mission.
And I haven't done any PvP on WOW while leveling a mage up to 54.
