Originally posted by vmoped Originally posted by Guitano Originally posted by daarco I just want ANY dynamic sanbox MMO to be released. Is that to much to ask from the MMOs developers in 2008? Yes it is. Thats why i have to wait for a *#"¤%#" little GREEK indie developer to do it! Ohh, not only wait......i have to trust them to since there is noone else......hmm, yes Eartrise......from "another" Bulgarian indie developer. Whats wrong??? Why cant Blizzard or SOE do it?? Anyone??
Aside from that, massive amounts of new asian mmo's are pumped out each month. You would think that at least one of them would be a sandbox also. Blizzard and SoE only make online games that will make them massive cash back. A (((( !!! MASSIVE !!! )))) amount of todays mmo gamer would not touch a sandbox mmo. People will not touch an mmo if its not item based, gear based, level based, instanced with very harsh PvP restrictions.
I know its wrong to get mad at people who never got to play a real sandbox mmo. Somtimes it make me sick to see how much mmo makers have turned mmo gamers into 100% wusses. When I see dudes bragging how bad ass WoW, AoC, WoWHammer and so on are, its like saying being gheyy is cool. YOu know, my firends and I have played MMO's since Meridian 59, UO, EQ, etc... and we have tried many many mmos. What ruins most sandbox mmos in our opinions have been the players. Way too many players grief, gank, and worst of all turn it overly political. Too many of the past sandbox games (and current) become a giant job and hassle due people who take the game way too seriously. Now I have never heard of WoWHammer, dont know what that game is all about, but as a Warhammer beta tester, all I can say is... So when a company decides to make a sandbox mmo that doesn't attract all the elitest teenager (physically and/or mentally) crowd let me know. So far there hasn't been one.
SWG pre-cu/nge ... ?
Without the bugs and design mistakes ( like allowing people to build EVERYWERE, instead of putting some basic restrictions in ) it would have been a great game. It was a good game tho, until you know what by you know who.

I can truly say i rather stop playing a MMO because of to many players and to much action (PK, ganking and greifing) then of boredom. Right now i have tryed about 30-40 MMOs and quit them all because they were to "stupid"......or they believed i was to stupid to decide, move, invent, try, explore or play by my own.
And DF will the first MMO in eleven years that will allow me to control my character in a dynamic gameworld. Thats almost an entire MMO generation of players that never have experienced that. So if DF will be succesful or not? We have to wait and see.

I agree completely on the 11 years thing. UO and Everquest were games I was actually excited to play. I also like your point about "an entire MMO generation of players" etc. It's too true. These kids don't even know what they've been missing out on. Here's to hoping it works out perfectly.
