while I wasn't on the winning side I was laughing my ass off.
basically two non-fighters in WurmOnline were holding off 10 people(4 of which were fighters) from inside a homestead by nuicense tactics. they were good enough to make people stop aiming for the deed and go around the deed and descrate surounding alters ignoring the deed for a while. when that was done they managed to keep the 10 people around for another hour and a half getting pretty much nothing done in the entirety of the 3-4 hour 'raid', and being frustrating enough to get people to slowly walk off out of frustration.
the forum tactics afterwards were amusing as well, the 'losing' side(the 10 players) tried to declare the raid a 'not-raid' just some fun messing around(obviously a lie since for most people there it was 3 hours at the deed and about 40 mins to get there and that long to get back).
shame I couldn't do much in the raid, I was a Fo Priest(priests being the only class in the game) so I had to strictly follow the strictures of not taking life. Was pretty much there as an observer.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
A) When 5-6 of us stealthed/ran through Stormwind and Ironforge, slaughtering any who tried to attack us... Until we triggered a 100+ person raid of Undercity, which we helped stop at the bank.
Playing 5vs5 Arena and being the last one alive on my team, they had 2 players left and a 3rd player who was dotted up. I killed all 3 and we won the match
So many moments... the one i enjoyed most was from Lineage 2 close beta i think
A bunch of high level players decided to hold a whole town hostage by pking anybody who tried to leave, i played a healer myself so i didnt do much pking but i had my share of fun. We had some massive fights at the end tho before we surrended.
The rest of the day we spent hiding from them while working off the karma hehe, good times.
being the last person on the team alive running around asking in team chat who has a rezz signet, then waiting for the enemy team to split up(to more efficently catch me). starting the rezz the team chain reaction with rezz signets and just utterly murdering the now split up enemy team one group at a time.
every time you interupt a resurection spell, the person is stupid enough about 25% of the time to start right away again(since most rezz spells are slow you can have the person pretty much removed from combat for about 4 seconds if you play the waiting game, which is a really long time)
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Pking 70 enemies who didnt want to pvp in L2 cause they were camping our RB, some tried to kill our PKs to get gear but they were hella unorganized, we were around 5 parties of 9 people

pk is not availble in GW. Pk is open pvp. pk is more of supprise like me attacking the funeral.
Another moment was in UO when i was 5 and solo-ganked an entire clan. (no video tho)
Most fun pvp was when about 30 or so of us alliance stormed Ogrimmar and held the horde Auction House hostage for a good 3 hours denying the horde the use of their auction house (by killing the auctioneer npc as soon as they spawn) until people got bored and left. The AH in ogrimmar is a great place to hold a defensive position for a long time due to the narrow entrance without any other exit/entrance points. Also it doesn't trigger the infinite city guard zerg when you kill an important npc, altho there are guard respawns they are few. Also we're practically surrounded by hundreds of players outside but since they can't enter the AH without 1.) lagging to death 2.) getting picked off one by one. 3.) getting instant killed from concentrated fire. This is kinda like the battle of thermopylae where choke point was used to battle a larger force. Another reason is probably the way line of sight targetting works in WoW, you can see those outside easier than those outside can see inside a room.
My favorite PK moments come from Diablo 2 hardcore server. This was back around 2001 or 2000. I made a low level PKer (level 10) that was a modification of a level 16 pker of the same type. I excelled in the wolf in sheep's clothing style of PKing. I basically would go into a semi-full game (up to 8 players) and hostile everyone. After the "laughs" died down I'd go hunting and I'd kill 1 to 3 players often. It was the most fun I ever had in any game ever.
Diablo 2 hardcore server USeast = most fun in any game ever. (except for the cheaters and hackers).

killing gate campers in shadowbane. Basically what they'd do is wait out on the portal gates up on top of the walls for people to come through and then all mass gank them. It was often the same guilds who did it with the same culprits.
So a lot of our guild got together and went through,waited until we were all out there (youre stealthed until you move) and then killed them all and looted all their winnings of the day.
Of course they didnt like that,and started sending trash talking PMs to people saying how unfair it was because they didnt know we were coming. So we met up with them on equal ground out in oblivion,and fought and killed them again. Again,the trash talk PMs started ,and again we met up and killed them. Eventually they gave up and trotted off to go and farm.
We also had another similar fight where they had killed some of our low level guildies,so we went out with another guild to find them,and found them in the middle of fighting some of the massive demons out there. We had a really great series of fights also involving lots of mob aggro,with no trash talking PMs or online tough guy acts. Some really good pvp action. Shame the server got totally taken over by the pacific rim players its a dead server nowadays,but im crossing my fingers the server wipes will come soon so can get back into it.
I was playing Lineage 2 and i was in the most hated clans. So i was standing outside of Dragon valley caves (this was back in c4) and a guy ported in who had war tags so i just hit him once and he started to run and then i ran after him got a critical hit on him and he got layed out. Very funny.
EQ2 not too long after the PvP servers opened. My paladin, slightly tweaked, hit level 14 and I got a spell that effectively doubled my hit points for a short time. I decided to test it out so I went to the heart of enemy territory. Made it all the way there, no fights the whole way until I get near the city and find a level 16 assassin troll fighting an NPC orc. Now I fully expected to be seriously owned as he had me easily in dps and evasion but I attacked him anyway. Killed him.
So I went to the gate to one of the enemy newbie zones and here he comes, freshly rezed. Timing my stuns and timing his to keep my back away from him, it was a fierce fight but somehow I kill him again. Now I know he's making a beeline for me so I start zone hopping to give me time to regain some mana. He hits me again, again somehow I win.
Then got jumped by a group of four casters, killed one before they got me. Ah, if I'd the screenshots to prove it.
Last Chaos castle siege, I had a friend walk into the middle of the fray, die, and then just run Fraps from the middle of the debacle. Walked away and came back to an hour of video of hackers zooming across the landscape. Thus why many of his friends stopped bothering with the event.
I also had one friend get killed by a guy on a PK server, so our Guild Master killed him in the arena on a non PvP server twice. The guy then demanded our guild master meet him on a PK server, and was promptly killed again. Our GM even once just stood there deciding to give the guy a chance, and wasn't taking any damage. The cherry on top was the man's own guild master telling ours, "I'm glad he's finally bitten off more then he can chew."
~~~~~ "Big surprise... there was no protection by this urban light..."
OP: Can you explain to me how you have a good PvP moment in a game that offers no risk/reward in a PK fight? That is, you lose nothing and you gain nothing in PvP. I find it absolutely hilarious that a thread about PvP was started and people are mentioning world of warcraft.
I have no single best PK moment, it was every time I got into an adrenaline pumping fight on Asheron's Call Darktide knowing that if I died I may drop something important. It was defending my clans hunting grounds with groups of clanmates to protect those who were hunting there. It was raiding enemies towns and dungeons to keep them from advancing too much.
The story I put up, my toon was in constant danger and fighting someone who was higher in level. I guess I was ignorant of the notion that PK = ganking. Because ganking is just something that happens, nothing to ever brag about.
I went from Great Lord to Dread Lord in one sitting in UO. Seeing one person yelling "WHY IS A GREAT LORD KILLING ME?" was the best thing ever. Ohh, and hanging with 6 other Dread Lord friends while doing it.
PKing in the old school UO days was more than just for the Dread Lord title. It was good way to make money and loot in the game. No other game can match it because all the sheep, aka the players with loot, play the safe games.
The PK and anti-PK battle is over, both sides lost.
The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
My best moment was actually a anti-pk moment. It was like that: We set up a roaming gang with 16 people to find some targets. (So traditional Pk ganksquad)
I was the scout, and then found a horde of pirates. They spotted us too with their own scout. So we sat on opposite sides of a stargate, both gangs had a scout on the other side. After some time, they got reinforcements, we had nearly equal numbers. They had bigger ships, but we were already prepared. When they jumped into us, everyone already was at their preferred range. We quickly disabled their hard hitting battleships with electronic warfare and went for their own ewar. They didn't stand a chance. The whole fight only lasted for 10 minutes with 10 minutes of scouting each other. Those were the most intense moments i ever had in a game. Linky
If you call group PvP ganking, then its sad to see what current day MMORPGs have led people to believe. Your toon wasn't in any danger, you were at risk of losing nothing, you were fighting for nothing other than saying you won a fight. Fighting a player who is higher level than you is not a risk, and in a game like World of Warcraft, the higher level player will always win unless they're completely retarded and have shit gear.
