I read somewhere that there wont be KOTOR mmo, but they are working on KOTOR 3 single player or something like that. Not sure where i read it so no link sorry =/.
It's based on the upcoming live action show between Ep3 and 4 and is going to have a TV tie in. It's going be the biggest thing ever. GL isn't interested in KOTOR, he wants to expand on his own storries. So no, it's not KOTOR, yes it is Star Wars related.
Read it and wheep fanboys.. Bioware is working on a mmo indeed however it is not KOTOR.
Just cuz IGN just posted that doesn't mean it isn't old news... at least for some.
"So where does BioWare stand in all of this? We know there's a new MMO on the way, and that both EA and LucasArts have acknowledged this publicly, but there's no definite answer on whether or not we'll see KOTOR's return in the future. In contacting LucasArts about its works with BioWare, and the possibility of a future KOTOR product, the company stated that, "Yes, we are working with BioWare. We've announced that we're working with the developer on a project, but it has nothing to do with Knights of the Old Republic."
-- Doesn't say it's not Star Wars related, says it's not KOTOR related. With the Clone Wars TV shows coming, theatrical release for the Clone Wars animated movie also, I really wouldn't be surprised it the MMORPG is a tie in.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
If anything they will improve upon the proven formula, starting out as just an adverage joe in the galaxy, and making a name for yourself. The first SW MMO worked, but there just wasn't enough to keep people around.

Actually I think they will avoid the first games method of the sandbox style preCU method. It won't work with a TV series tie in/interaction (if thats how they do it). This is Bioware. Story driven, semi-linear style play and you always are somebody in their games (even if you don't realize it at first). They are going to have to have linear story plots for folks to follow along with and stay focused for "Next weeks thrilling chapter" on the tube.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"

Thank you. =D
The funny thing is I've never even played SWG or KOTR, but I just think it's a little out of hand for these posts to pop up every single day over and over. Why people care so much that fans were hoping for a KOTR mmo is beyond me. I mean hell, I'm a fan of Star Wars, and I think the IP could make for an insane MMO so why were people so against it? Especially with what SWG became, why not get excited for an actual GOOD star wars MMO?

First point, this response should not be interpreted as saying "NO They are working on KOTOR online".
With that out of the way, even though the average reading ability of many people on the internet is sub-middle school so this post will be taken as saying something it isn't. I believe IGN is so desperate for "news" that they themselves jump the gun.
"Yes, we are working with BioWare. We've announced that we're working with the developer on a project, but it has nothing to do with Knights of the Old Republic."
Nothing in that statement has ass to do with the MMO. This is the EXACT same statement that Lucas released shortly after the announcement of working with Bioware again, nearly a year (maybe two) since BioWare announced they were working on an MMO. "A project" does NOT = MMO.

I totally see where you're coming from Sev... but realize they have to choose their words carefully right now while they're keeping up the secret. Thus, 'No Not Kotor', and not 'No Not Star Wars'. Of course that doesn't prove a single thing, but I'm just saying if it WERE Star Wars related but I couldn't say it, that's exactly how I would reply to the question of 'Is it KOTOR?', instead of saying 'Nope, not Star Wars at all.'

He's saying that the LA/Bioware project doesn't automatically mean the BioWare MMO. In my opinion they are two completely seperate things Bioware is working on.
The only one who said LA confirms the MMO is IGN. The statement severius quotes from the article merely says that the "project" LA is working on with Bioware isn't KOTOR. Thats it. I'm kind of surprised the IGN interviewer didn't ask flat out "Are you working on a MMO with Bioware?". It would save alot of speculation.

Oh, I understand what he's saying. But for his statement to be true, it would mean that Bioware is working on a KOTOR MMO...without the owner of KOTOR.
DeaconX, might wanna change that sig again. http://rlmmo.com/viewtopic.php?t=5567&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 The MMO is not going to be based on the cartoon. I was told that there are two TV series in development. The second will be live action and this is what the MMO will be wrapped around. LA knows that kids do not have money and this will be pointed at young adults and adults that have $$$ for entertainment. Supposedly, they are making women participants a priority.
LA was shopping for scripts/talent from other English speaking sources. Canada, Australia, and England were on the agenda because of the writer's strike. They have not yet decided whether to press forward with the alternate sources, or use Hollywood. The impact of the strike was starting to affect schedules.
REALLY??? We're quoting some guy who lives in Huntsville, Alabama and posts on the RLMMO forums as authority???

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
It very well could be a Star Wars title however it is not KOTOR.. Basing it in any timeline during the movies is a stupid move they have already made.
What else could they be making ?! Its either or.

I don't think anyone here cares, as long as it's Star Wars. /shrug Most fans prefer the timeline of the original trillogy.
I've always said the MMO is Harry Potter...not KOTOR.
p.s. It's Harry Potter
Looking forward to seeing you at Hogwart's MC LOL!
