And who are you and why does it matter to you? Nobody? I thought so, move along.
LOL! Oh, sorry to question your impeccable sources. I heard George Lucas personally calls some guy in Alabama to break all the top secret goings on of his companies on RLMMO forums first actually.
Tillamook, it's awesome you had an idea like this long ago!
To be honest I'm too damn lazy to change my sig so it's gonna stay for a while at least til get my old 'DeaconX' Squall sig back up... at.....some point...
That's intreresting stuff and honestly I COULD see it happen. George loves to push stuff like this.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

I'm sure you're right...
What's your grudge? For real, why does this bother you sooo much? Why does it bother you that people want to speculate? If you have some information, share. All I can get from all that you've posted is pure troll thrill.
Tillamook, it's awesome you had an idea like this long ago!
you mean Tuesday???
p.s. I have ZERO problem with speculation as long as it's presented as such. If you're the same guy as that poster on the other site, however, you're claiming you're being given INSIDE INFORMATION...which you're not.

Try back in 2006, right after they said they were gonna do a live action show.

Well, considering that wasn't linked in this thread anywhere...apparently you've studied his posting history to remember what he posted two years ago, which is impressive...and a bit scary...but regardless...cool prediction I guess...but has absolutely nothing to do with this...

Lol no Vinc, in one of the links he posted here, there's a whole thread... I just read into a thread where Till said jokingly 'They owe the idea to me' and that's where I found the link BACK to MMORPG.com That's all. Right now, I'm just happy if there IS a wicked new Star Wars mmorpg...
but rather than taking shots at everyone speculating and scrambling for answers, I'm having fun along with them because honestly, a good Star Wars mmorpg would be the most exciting thing to me in MMORPG's.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
Just to throw this out there, there is also a rumor that Lucas Arts is going at an MMO alone. Why they would I have no idea. No one knows for sure if BW is doing it, no one knows if one is being made, but I hope it is. TBH I would be happy if BW wasn't doing it for various reasons I won't go into here.
Don't quote me with flames later, but Bioware's MMO is based on the Mass Effect IP.
Oh man that'd be a tough choice.. if you could play a quality Star Wars MMORPG or a quality Mass Effect MMORPG... would be a sweet time for SciFi gamers that's for sure.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
On the other hand, I could see absolutely no reason to withhold announcement of a Mass Effect MMO by name. Sure, it's kind of popular...but not off the charts so, not by a long shot...and not mainstream.
EDIT: I think for speculation purpose, that may be the biggest clue of all...the secrecy. Whatever it is, it has to be a title that justifies building this speculation while withholding the IP for so long. Not to mention, the secret has been better guarded than who killed Kennedy at this point, which is kind of amazing.

Really. Lord knows we need a good new Sci-Fi MMO right now in the ocean of fantasy based ones.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"
One thing I'd like to point out was that my post was purely wild speculation, I have no inside sources or undiscovered information that made me reach this conclusion.
However, there is an interesting post on the Bioware forums made by Chris Priestley(Community Coordinator at BW) in November 2006. It is quoted below:
"We aren't commenting on the MMO and what it may or may not be yet. Could it be Mass Effect? Maybe. Could it be about 10 bajillion other things instead? Maybe."
What I'm trying to point out is that all we can do for now is speculate, unless one of us gets their hands on some confidential information. Just remember, if you get some intel, I'm your best friend, I really am!
Well, as foolish as this might seem, I was thinking they were making a new 1st person based on the new Indiana Jones movie.. Just a thought to chew on..

I think that's as likely as anything.
p.s. After seeing the new trailer for the movie today, I'd also buy that game LOL!
Yeah the trailer at www.starwars.com is not bad... but the art style still has to grow on me... I would rather have had something more like the CGI in the Final Fantasy movies. THAT would be sweet. I donno this CGI feels kinda 'lazy' rather than stylized to me but that's just my taste I suppose.

DeaconX, might wanna change that sig again. http://rlmmo.com/viewtopic.php?t=5567&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 The MMO is not going to be based on the cartoon. I was told that there are two TV series in development. The second will be live action and this is what the MMO will be wrapped around. LA knows that kids do not have money and this will be pointed at young adults and adults that have $$$ for entertainment. Supposedly, they are making women participants a priority.
LA was shopping for scripts/talent from other English speaking sources. Canada, Australia, and England were on the agenda because of the writer's strike. They have not yet decided whether to press forward with the alternate sources, or use Hollywood. The impact of the strike was starting to affect schedules.
REALLY??? We're quoting some guy who lives in Huntsville, Alabama and posts on the RLMMO forums as authority???
wow.
You know it has to be true now!
"I used to think the worst thing in life was to be all alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel all alone." Robin Williams

And this single point here is one of the biggest reasons why people still think the IP will be Star Wars. LucasArts has Force Unleashed to hype right now, as well as (probably) a contract still with SOE--there's plenty of reasons for them to not want to let the cat out of the bag right now.
They are waiting until just the right moment to announce this game, because when they do, it's going to be BIG. A homemade IP is not going to merit this kind of treatment, nor would any other IP besides Star Wars. It's really the only geek IP that will be able to live up to all of this.
Ah, but Harry Potter does meet the "secret criteria". I mean, looking at the responses on this forum to a proposed Harry Potter MMO you have reason 1...which is people disregarding it before they have a way to show them something that will dissuade that. Reason 2 , of course, is it's arguably the single largest IP on the market today!
so yeah, I still say...
It's Harry Potter
p.s. You KNOW you'd be playing it right along with me, btw...hell, half the hardcore gamers on here would be still interested enough in a Bioware MMO product to at least give it a shot regardless of IP

Dude, of COURSE I'd end up playing it. I'm a major Harry Potter fan. It's just that my gut instinct tells me that this MMO was started waaaay before EA ever stuck their noses in BioWare's business.
I agree with you--Harry Potter is the only other IP besides Star Wars that could be considered huge. But EA cutting deals with BioWare as far back as December 2005 (when the studio was started)? Seems like a stretch.

I said several times that Bioware is not making a Kotor MMORPG.
Until SoE will have the rights for Star Wars, no one else is going to do another one.
Also Bioware said that it wil use a proprietary IP for their next MMO.
I get increasingly the impression that Mass Effect could be made as MMORPG, like Blizzard made with WoW after Warcraft 3.
Anyway forget about Kotor Online

I'd love to see it take place during the mandalorian wars. You have the jedi on one side and tech on the other. Great for PvP situation
