Oddly enough, all my girlfriends have been gamergirls, or been "turned" into one.

One of the "main" things I noticed abotu them(and loved, since I am the same kind) is that they prefered games with more community and social interaction than "the grind".

Not one of them could sit through a game where all you did was run out, kill, loot and repeat... wich is kinda the major mantra in all MMO's today.. Everything else is second or in fact not part of the core game. This is kinda sad, since if you look at the whole gaming market as a whole, you'll see that the popular games(Shooters not counted  ) is about more than just that... their core game isn't just "kill, loot, repeat"... And thus, those games have a more varied playerbase overall.

Heck, my 2 sisters, my stephdad and my moronic brother all play The Sims 2.. Yet when they see CS or CoD4 or BF2 or WoW...They barf

(I'm kinda proud of my family for that)

As I mentioned before, "turned" into one, was my doing... Being that I knew(know) my girlfriend very well, I introduced her to games that had things she had an interest in... and once she was having fun with one game... it was easy to broaden her horizon. Sadly, she became better than me in CS beta 5, so I dumped her (kiiiiiiiding!!!!).

How sad that would be if it were true.

A few weeks ago, and I might have agreed with the OP.  Then I played JoJo's Fashion Show.  At that point, I came to the following conclusions:

    1)  "Girl Games" can be good, challenging, and fun...even for male gamers.  I'm almost embarassed to say it, but I love this game.  It's challenging and calls upon abilities that most games never tap into.

    2)  A "Girl Game" can be the highest played game on HPGames (JoJo's is the most popular download this month; even higher than Runescape or Fate).

    3)  MMOs are actually regressing in their ability to cross gender boundaries.  We used to have games which took non-combat and aesthetic gameplay seriously (see the old SWG).  Today it's all about shoot'em'up and pwn.

    4)  Non-Massive online games have been catering to this demographic for a long time now (Diner Dash, JoJo's, etc.), and suceeding.  Frankly, there's nowhere else for this demographic to go, since MMO developers are clueless to how to attract them (hint: it's not from pvp, raids, combat, stat-mashing, and loot grabs).

    5)  Catering to the female demographic is the surest way I know to get our great, innovative game.  The way to breathe life into our worlds is to make it about more than guilds, loots, levels, and quests.  It's about making all the details fit in a pleasing way, which is, ironically, what these "girl games" reward.

still...its a tiny majourity...and alot complain that no games are being made unisex...there all to manly...

Really Housam??  I've yet to see any female gamers here .. including myself... ever cry this.  The few that do are feminist nazis who even other female gamers detest.    I'd rather barf than get stuck playing some frilly lil pink elves in pretty dresses game and i'd rather barf then play some game that tries to be something for everyone instead of just a kickass game.  Ever thought that some of the designers of some of these said 'manly' games are actual girls..because you know what...they are.   Games are Games regardless of a main target audience they still take into account things that females like whether you realize it or not.

BTW I like ripping off arms and bashing my oppenents with them just as much as any guy does.

Unless your some sort of PHd holding nerd that actually studies gaming culture & female gaming culture you really shouldn't spout such supposed knowledge especially when its completely opinionated drivel.

I really get tired of seeing these threads they make no sense and its realy nothing but some guys throwing their epeens around while everyone else sits back and has a really good laugh at their expense.  BTW thanks for the chuckle.

Where have you been all my life

I didn't meet that many ladies in L2; Everquest and EQ2, however, have been a different story.  Something like 20 to 30 of my EQ guild's active 80 members are gals.
