Probably not the best answers, but I tried. Also your poll is very weak, the question which is very open ended. Which? Canada or Taco Salad.
Where can I find something that states WAR's game world size, I have been looking but cant seem to find it. If you know the estimated size that would be great
No offense to the OP, but it is impossible to make a coherent choice at this time, unless you are in both closed betas.
The graphics and animation of War is just a huge turn off for me. AOC is by far the best game coming out before summer.
No offense but this kind of posts sucks. How can we discuss about two games that arent released..?
I wouldn't rely on strangers to help you decide which game to play. First, wait until the games release. Then either try the games yourself or ask someone who knows you better. You can try both you know.
Uhm?
AOC is more difficult and more advanced and more 1 vs 1, and much raids? and warhammer you play only for RVR. so it depend's on how many people play warhammer... right?
One is clear from reading both threads posted on both forums. That even the people that try and be helpful and present features of both games don't have all their facts straight. Besides that, both games are in beta so things are bound to change (more time for changes in WAR than AoC though).
Both game fans will present their games like the best thing ever happened. The truth is that both games have elements that you already find in present MMOs, both have some stronger focus in certain aspects and both have weaknesses. Whether you can capitalise on the strengths and have fun and weather you can live with the weaknesses, is solely up to you. We can't form an opinion for you, most of us haven't formed one for ourselves.
As somebody else said, only exposure in both betas will give you a better idea of what to expect. And even that would be biased since AoC is closer to completion, thus is more "presentable". Still, no second hand opinion is worth as much as first hand exposure.
Whatever you choose, remember to have fun with it.
That's all right. fun! i can't wait until both games come out, 88 days and AOC is out! yay!
Does AOC has Sieges?
I've been following both games quite closely but I admit I lean more towards WAR recently... The primary reason is is that WAR promises more casual-friendly experience. There are no instanced raids or guild requirements for meaningful endgame PvP (before the flames start... No, I'm not satisfied with the mercenary system) and the whole game seems geared more toward "log in, have fun, log out when you want" type of play.
AoC will deliver a more intense, guild-oriented, "hardcore" experience. Personally, this would be more appealing to me than WAR if I were 10 years younger (still in school, lotsa free time) or 10 years older (got a steady, boring job and am looking for a nice hobby). This is the reason why I don't play EVE for example, although I respect it immensely and am 100% sure it is totally awesome. I simply don't have the time or incentive to commit myself to such a game fully at this point in my life.
However, we still don't know how these two will turn out. WAR for example may depend too much on instanced PvP which is a huge turn-off for me. AoC on the other hand may be a lot less reliant on PvE raids and guilds. In that case I can see myself playing AoC rather than WAR. Imo, only time will tell. I will definitely wait for a few weeks after release before making my purchase.
To the OP:
Keep sieges yes. I haven't read much about the other PvP objectives in the border kingdoms. It's actually one of the key aspects of AoC end game, not sure how you missed it.
To Markoraos:
It all depends on what the inclusion for PvP and raiding will be. For PvP, maybe superior numbers will count more, thus it might be easier to enter a big guild with a castle. For PvE, it depends on the difficulty of the encounters. The more forgiving the encounters, the easier it will be for people to enter the big PvE guilds.
It's really hard to tell from day -1 how hard it will be to participate in the end content. Or what end content mean for different people for that matter. There are always the people out there who are not very interested in PvP or don't want to step in a raid instance.
Matters are not becoming easier for old timers who are jaded about all games in the market and everything that is coming out. The old games were not better games, it's just a romantic view of the past. We just had more time, patience and we were willing to forgive the weaknesses. After a while the weaknesses became an afterthought and we weren't even bothered by them. Like a bear going for the honey avoiding all the bee stings sort of thing.
That's exactly what i do too, wait 1 monnth, before i buy it. I like PVP more then PVE. I like higher levels 80 AOC more then WAR 50. so it's difficult for me. lol the time will come, it's waiting now.
Does the sieges works like in Lineage II?
Actually AoC has 80 PvE levels and 20 PvP levels. Somebody mentioned 5 mercenary levels but I don't recall reading anywhere about that. WAR does have 40 levels. Thing is, the amount of levels is irrelevant. Lineage 2 (since you mention it) had 75 levels (the basic ones), but it took ages to reach 75 (I won't comment on how much of a grind it was in the early chapters I was playing, no idea about today's status).
As for the sieges, only the internal Funcom testers can tell you how they are or how they are meant to be played out. Normally keeps would need tradeskillers to gather the resources both to build the keep and the siege equipment. I'm not aware if these things are available for beta testing at this point. Bottom line, noone outside the company has a concrete idea yet.
It would be pretty awesome if they do capture the battle spirit of the sieges of Lineage 2. That's for sure.
A few questions:
http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi?func=publish.show&template=content&func_id=1347&table=CONTENT
If you read good? can a guild attack a guild then? or what? and can normal players kill your own guild hall?
So you mean it is like GW2, You can make a PVP char and a PVE char?
It's the same character gaining PvE levels (up to 80) by killing NPCs and world monsters and gaining PvP levels (up to 20) by killing other players. At list this is my take from current level description. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
Does there comes updates for AOC? like wow or like GW?
Does there comes updates for WAR? like wow or like GW?
Or nobody ahve a idea about this.
That's something expected from any MMO. So my guess is, yes. Whether you will need to pay for big updates or not, is an issue dependant on the company and it's policy. Funcom had both free and paid expansions for it's previous MMO, AO, so no idea what the plan will be for AoC. I don't know what Mythic has done with DAoC in relation to expansion. Somebody else can enlighten you.
do you like the level system from AOC more then War? or how you think about it.
