It makes me sad. If they had just done the original CURB and fixed the bugs we would be in a golden age of SWG right now. It would be the richest, most complex game on the market and people getting bored with WoW and other fantasy based games would be flocking to it. Instead it's a third-rate WoW clone that will be used forever as an example of how not to run a game.
Current state: Poo
A large old beat up boat, with a rather large hole in the bottom of it, that has a Captain, crew, and passengers that are complaining about how it's third paintjob looks. Meanwhile the folks on the shore shake their heads in disbelief as it slowly sinks down into the abyss...
SWG.
SWG? Pull the plug already!
Sad.
My full sized rancor, fambaa, huf dun, giant peko peko and giant veermok will never be able to come out and play again in all their oversized glory.
Sad.
CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.
Once a denizen of Ahazi
the state of the game makes me sick, and sad, was almost ready to unlock Padawan, and never got any further
the new stuff just doesn't have any hope for me
What he said, not much to add to that.
Uh oh, better call the whaaaaaaambulance.
Lets be realistic. You probably want to see soe burn and fall apart. I'd like to see that too, but its not going to happen. If they're keeping worse games alive (like vanguard or matrix online) they'll deffinately keep swg alive so long as its profitable for them.
I bet it drives you crazy to know that veterans have returned to the game and are having fun.
I hate smedley just as much as the next disgruntled veteran, but I hate wow more.
Anyways, I'm gonna go recapture an imperial star destroyer. Yes, its as cool as it sounds.
Cry some more.

Yeah, I used to hate the game because of NGE as much as anyone, but I've been playing the game since Feb. 2008 and have honestly had a good time. If you hate the game, fantastic, move along. Its all been said before and your continuous griefing just makes you look like a sad individual with nothing better to do.
About the saddest thing I've read in a long time. Heh, n00b.
SWG? Pull the plug already!
Nauseous
A busted game that actually got worse instead of better with two revamps.
Soulless. That's the way I would describe SWG with the NGE. After the NGE, the game lost it's magic for me and now it's just a game where it used to be a world.
"It used to be a world, now it's just a game" - Misterbounty on old SWG forums after the NGE.
QFE, not my style, but you've hit the nail on the head.

I dislike fanbois like these that think this game is so great when the game is sinking, another one of the reasons I left goes to show they will eat anything $OE gives them and what they are eating is pure turd...
I'd define SWG as mediocre at best - especially for a game that's showing it's age.
How does it make me feel? Well, I feel 2 things actually. One, I'm frustrated that people will support something that I feel harms the industry (specifially how the NGE was allowed to happen). Two, I feel some empathy to the people who are currently playing. I think they're fighting a very steep uphill battle to get the ideas and things introduced into the game that they want. The official forums are filled with great ideas that will never even be considered.
It seems there is so much hope for a better game over there that once realized it's not going to achieve what they want those people will be angry and frustrated just as the "disgruntled vets" are.
Eventually everyone becomes disgruntled, except for maybe Obraik
As many times as one like yourself worries about what we think or say in a veteran's area, and area specially demarked to keep flames to a minimum for current users, I have to wonder that the hell people like you get from all of this? Are you on a payroll?
SOE will do what SOE does, fail. Do they make money? Who knows, they have a very large corporate master, Sony Pictures Entertainment, who has an even larger corporate master, Sony. I would assume that overcharging their subscribers for lackluster games, they probably do make money. They do not make WoW money, but enough to keep their third tier developers on staff and their servers connected to the Internet.
It does not bother me one bit that older players decide to go back to their communities and give SWG a shot. I have played more months of the NGE than I should have waiting for SOE to fix glaring bugs and gameplay issues. I got tired of being taken advantage of. Saying the game is "improving" for $15 a month to me is an unacceptable condition. For a premium monthly subscription, I expect a premium service. SWG does not even come close. It is now an old and tired game, with a torn community and shills like you that come to bait and provoke confrontations with those that want something more for their money.
Again, if you think you are getting $180 worth per year out of the game, good for you. I paid that money for three years, almost four, plus a collector's edition and expansions, until I could no longer justify being taken advantage of. My progress and profession was erased in the CU, then my accomplishments were once again handed out for free in the NGE. Great company you are supporting there, not.

No Longer SWG Free
I really feel nothing about those that still play. I am glad for them that they can find something redeeming in the game that keeps them entertained.
Its not our game anymore, really. Our game was shut down over two years ago. Our stuff and characters were transferred to the NGE, but it is so fundamentally different that those that loved the depth of our virtual world were cut off in Nov 2005.
I only get pissed when someone that claims to be playing comes in here and starts flaming about how great the game is and how dumb we are for not enjoying it. I played NGE for over a year, waiting on SOE to address its faults. Medic flash bombs and flying koalas made me loose hope of any positive change. Its your game now, NGE fans. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Sad. Saddest now that the nastiest, angriest people posting are the fans who support the game, not the disgruntled vets themselves.

SWG is the only MMO ever released that has gotten worse rather than better, with every single patch that comes out.
These words describe SWG:
Trainwreck
Catastrophe
Disaster
Fail
Tragedy
Embarassment
Incompetence
Mismanagement
Betrayal
Stupidity
Ineptness
Cataclysm
1.) You say the current state of the game is "poo"... Ignoring your vast mastery of metaphors and descriptive prowess, wouldn't you have to be a paying subscriber to know what the game was currently like?
I can't be bothered, but I saw you post somewhere that SWG gets "worse" with every publish. Wow, guess you've been playing this whole time to keep track of that huh? This brings me to point 2.
2.) According to your "awesome" sig, veterans will never return. I'm a veteran and I'm having fun (along with other veterans). More important than that though is if you know the current state of the game (poo) you're a returning veteran too.
So which is it? Are your logic skills lacking or are you a paying subscriber?

I've not paid for the game in nearly a year. But I get a trial on any of my old accounts at almost any time so I check in from time to time.
Nice try.
This is one of the fanboi tricks that are tried from time to time to somehow disqualify us from saying anything about the NGE. It goes like this:
"Ok, you don't play the game, so you can't comment on it"
Then evolves to: "AHA! GOTCHA! You PLAY the game, you hypocrite!"
This line of argument= FAIL. Almost all of us practically get spammed with free trials on our own accounts, and any of us can use the regular 14 day trial at any time to check the game out. So we can stay current in being able to critique the "great" work of this Dev team without paying SOE a red cent.

Correct me where I'm wrong, but this is a veteran refuge. I'm a veteran that has played since beta. This is a public forum. So long as we don't violate the rules, we're all allowed a voice. It doesn't bother me that you disgruntled vets are so hostile towards the game. I don't understand why, or how you still have the energy to post the same lamentations so long after you supposedly stopped playing, but such is your right.I started posting on the forums because I wanted a rating so I could in turn rate SWG and other MMO's I've played. Without player ratings, this site would be largely irrelevant - anyone can give an arbitrary rating. Its the average of ratings that are important.
When I first started reading posts I was surprised to see how bitter some vets still are. I wanted to point out that I've returned and that I'm having fun. Either way, what we say on these forums wont make an impact on soe, so I don't understand how I'm a "fanboi".
If you truly want to make a statement to soe, speak with your wallet. As you've said, you've cancelled your accounts. Well done. soe no longer gets that income. They are still making enough however to keep the game running, and to continue creating new material for it. Whether the game "lives" or not will ultimately determine who the winner is of this larger flame war.
So long as SWG is still live and supported by soe, I guess we're winning. I don't care who "wins" or loses though. Winning a flame war is like winning gold in the special olympics - sure, you might win, but you're still IN the special olympics. (Not saying or implying there's any thing wrong with being in the special olympics, just stating a fact: that you're competing in them). Please don't flame me with "ZOMG!! Darean002 hates handicapped people!". It is a person's character and actions that determine their worth.
I just don't understand why it ellicits such vitriolic responses from you guys to hear that us vets are having fun.

At this point, I can't even rationalize a reason for fanbois to do what they are doing here. The deliberate "fight back" disinformation campaign to flood message boards with support for the NGE (by attacking us) has been a complete failure, because for one thing it gave us something to fight back against again.
I, right now, will say that I firmly believe that a number (not all, but some) of the most vocal and voracious fanboi trollers here ARE on the SOE or LEC payrolls. It's the only way that the activities of some make any sense.
There, the accusation is out in the open.
Why the hell not, SOE has accused me in the past of being on the payroll of their competition (the "cabal").
To truly evaluate a new publish and its new instances (for example) that means you've taken the time to do the pre-req quests and then run each new instance. So lets see, thats about 2 hours per each pre-requisite quest, and an average of 2-4 hours per instance. Thats quite alot of time you must be investing to do each instance (2*4+4*3 = 20 hours, give or take).
So that makes me wonder: if you hate the game so much, why are you still investing your time and energy in it? Ok, fantastic, I'm glad you're not wasting your hard earned dollars, but its still quite an investment from you if you know the each publish as well as you claim to.
So really, my point doesn't change and your argument is still invalid.
You're either still investing lots of time in it (as a non-paying returning veteran) or your logic = FAIL. Which is it?
