I have cancelled my account until i am see where this game is going.

There are too few people working on the game anyway imho, that what makes it possible for individuals to infulence the game in such a dramatic way.

Further more programmers like to develop new things rather than go back and fix bugs, hence the re-devlopment of the classes.

This is a classical mistake and shows that there is no leadership. Why re-develop new things that already work instead of sorting out broken things?

What should have been done is to fix all bugs first and get the performance sorted out, then and only then look at changing things.

And changes should be done with the original concept of the game kept in mind not dumping it down to a generic MMO(horse dis-mounting on any action).

But hey SOE is at work here and as far as i am concerned they don't have a clue.

For example: this is their latest game, how they got the game is irrelevant, and yet they only have a skeletal

development team working on it.  Given there track record one would expect that they would be interested ingetting it sorted and in a decent state asap, at least to compete with what is out there at the moment, not to talk about being the best in the business, i truley wonder what their Mission Statement is!

Smells like easy money. Easy money games work on genres where subs are not required and the customer is tricked into the 'one time purchase' of the game.

VG has a hardcore group of players, they are hardcore for a reason and not fools, yet the current dev team is changing what keeps these hardcore players subscribed. Sounds vaguely familar to me.

What i don't get is can't the upper brass of SOE see a trend here or at very least the shareholders of SOE?

But then again SOE is a business and they are out to make money, unfortunately it is we the mmo gamer that that money is made from.

All in all i think SOE is a massive let down to the Sony name that has excellently high standards in their hardware!

PS: Imagine what VG would have been like now if a serious comapny had bought it, for example Blizzard?!?

What I really miss in Vanguard is simply a vision.

For example, for what are crafters ? Right now, crafting in Vanguard is nothing but an amazingly boring endless grind. Mind, its much better than at the start, where it was an even more boring endless grind. I'm not saying it should be easy to be top crafter, BUT

    - even if you are NOT a top crafter, you should be useful

    - the challenge of becoming a top crafter should NOT be to stand at a static place and playing a static game endlessly over and over.

And after this endless, endless, endless grind of superboredom - how often have I thought about simply botting this completely braindead bullshit ! And I never cheat, usually - we are now screwed over once more, because nobody needs us now, not even for state of the art equipment.

I dunno, if you introduce crafting, it should have a huge dependency upon other players, IMHO. Getting the best recipes, you should need a guild for that. And getting the materials, again you need a guild for that. And when you finally got all the stuff together, it should be IMHO the ultimate item, because it requires so much work to get.

But the Vanguard devs never ever thought about this, apparently. What has Silius for a motto ? That hes a sadist ? Well and thats what crafting is, apparently. Would all be nice if we get something in the end, but honestly I feel superflous right now.

And about the game itself... isnt there a vision ? I mean - come on ! The hugest gameworld, a ton of races, a lot of diverse classes, theres definitely a vision out there. Only the devs dont support it. With this new riftway system we could as well have an areabased DnD online world. And with the extreme xp you can do in Vanguard, level 50 is just too easy to get for adventurers.

And diplomacy. Its even slower than crafting, apparently. And the returns ? Zero, zero, or zero, it seems. There was a little use for the guildhalls etc and you get quite some lore, but thats it.

Thats an interesting comment.  I mean if Blizzard did buy it do you think we would have seen any patches at all by now :P  I don't know about you but I think blizzard is the slowest developer ever.  Granted they deliver high quality games but look at wow since launch it has had one expansion and most patches are relatively minor and very infrequent.

I honestly wonder if you are playing the same game I am.  I think the crafting system is pretty amazing...

My guild would lavish crafters.  We had guild harvesting raids and were constantly collecting supplies.  There was lots of dependence.  Crafters need resources to make anything and crafted equipment at any level is near the best stuff in the game.

As to a grind, name a crafting system that isn't a grind.  At least the VG system is an entertaining grind where you need to think some and oh yeah you get lots of rewards that you can use.  Not like any other system where you craft endlessly getting nothing for it other then what you make.  Then you eat up all your resources, you sell what you can, and you log off because you are out of money, out of resources and there is nothing more you can do till something sells.

In VG I can actually play a crafter!! wow that's pretty damn unique.  I can do my crafting tasks getting rewards I can use and leveling my crafter without even needing to kill a mob.  Frankly I think it is great.

Honestly all games are a grind the question is do you find the grind entertaining and satisfying.  If not maybe crafting in VG isn't for you?  Maybe you aren't really a crafter.  So go harvest or just kill mobs.  You got choices!!

Gotta agree with this post..... SOE just dont seem to learn. Silius fits in with their ethos perfectly, he is always gonna be right, in his opinion. Silius does not give a fig about anyone elses opinion and is gonna bend Vanguard around to his vision, which is another simplistic, easy mode, carebear product. Only difference is it runs crap. Finally saw the light and ditched this garbage just as Silius got rid of character customization. Even consoles can manage character customization Silius, perhaps you 'aint as good as you would like everyone to believe. The game is trashed.... just not worth a monthly fee. Eight friends and myself quit after GU4. I gave it a year, wished i had saved my cash. Sony online entertainment will be irrelevant in a year or so..... their package is old, tired aqnd boring.

Aye, even better when you dig up a post from oh, 3 months ago....

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
