Vanguard... despite my regular ranting I had hoped, and I clung to them. Somehow I really had hoped they would work to bring "soul" to this game, which it so sorely lacked. But no glamorous title of being "The Legendary" can pay me off for the balderdash of GU4. What a farce.
For me the customization always was important, and now... its behind even some F2P games!
All characters I had worked so meticiously on their looks seem like chubby ken/barbie clones. I was really pissed when I saw HOW many sliders they took out.
VG has some damn good classes, many races and a big world, which is all good. But in one year they NEVER worked against the sterile atmosphere, the lack of "soul" and made this world more "alive". Its a matter of feeling, where it always lacked and VG never did a single step to work on that. Instead they take out customization, add the most ugly helmets I have ever seen and make MORE skill juggling.
For me its the final blow.
Funny, it is the first time in MANY years, since I started closely after SWG launch, that I am totally without any SOE game. Finally salvation from evil? Heh, who knows. I didnt lack patience. Time and again I gave them the credit of doubt and my credit card, but enough is enough. They can have their plastic worlds for themselves. Its a pity, I see the potential of their games, seriously, but they really, really managed to srcew ALL of them. What a waste...

And again, misinformation has led to false conclusions, just as concerning the dismounting and buffing issue. Characters and their looks including customisation are being revamped. This was only a first step, customisation options will be added in future patches.
And funny thing is, most didnt even notice that their characters have lost a couple of bones in their faces because even from a closer distant, you dont see a difference (unless you zoom in really close). Nevermind though.
What would be nice for all of us who are worried about this aspect of the game or for new players thinking of starting, would be a few honest before and after screenys so everyone could see the difference if any
Talk is just that, Talk. But lets see some references that we can judge for ourselves if the changes are horrendous or slight.
I totally agree with you Elikal. Again, again and over again I have given them the benefits of the doubts, and access to my credit card. But people can only take so much.

I really love people that level up a character to level 14 in a few days, and then write ten page long review about how much the game sucks.

Thanks friend! i still have my game installed and was going to give it a week for gu4 to settle then try again. The screenies would be more for newer players realy so they can actualy make thier own mind up rather than listen to how horrific the changes are

When I checked a few pages of his posts, majority of them are in orange, and some of them are very short. But what they all share is the Vanguard Saga of Heroes forum section and a very negative tone.

Anyway, i agree that they have had a long time to "fix" Vanguard and should have done a lot more by now but if you don't like it, don't bash it, go play something else. The game doesn't need to be bashed anymore than it has been already.
Do you honestly think that they are going to revamp the customization system. LOL! Did you not read what Silius wrote. You'll have faces to chose from. A set of faces. ::rolls her eyes:: That is a step back to the time before 1999. Even in AC and EQ there was more customization and those games are almost 10 years old!
First, anyone who didnt notice the difference must be a very non-visual person, to say it in a friendly way.
Second, I dont care SOE promises to make a "better" "new" model "sometimes". When NGE came to SWG I waited a friggin year for SOE promises of "we will make better". Now I play this game since beta and launch, and the overall direction and speed of change is WAY too less. I waited one year, what more can a company expect? I do think thats a very generous time already to fix a running game, or not?
Why do they STILL waste their time juggling skills like "spell X is now level 10 instead of 12" and such shit in ENDLESS lists? I hear a ton of complains, but few have THOSE high on their lists. The big, rich Sony made ONE raid dungeon in ALL the time, when Turbine makes entire new LANDS in 2 months! I mean, this is ALL SO deja vu of promises what will maybe come one day, we work on it, it will be cool, just wait, wait, BLAH BLAH BLAH.
WHY should I WAIT and PAY? I mean, hey, if I must wait for beautiful faces, they can wait for my money, right? Maybe its in the making, maybe not. But why cant they finish the NEW models first and THEN take the old away and not the other way around? Customer service hello??
Overall in this last year there were way too little changes and too many on arbitrary things like HELMETS! God, look at a game like EQ2 or LOTRO or whatever, 80% deactivate helmets ANYWAY. Wouldnt there be A LOT of other things to change first? I spoke to so many who found VG sterile and soulles, and I sure do, and neither Sigil nor SOE ever did a single step to work on such things.
Or this Flying Mount, another flop. What the devil do I need a flying mount for a lv 50 char? When I am lv 50 I am done and reroll. I dont need a frigging flying mount for my lv 50 char, I need it with 20, with 30, when I REALLY travel around, not when I am game over and done. Its not a PVP game where your lv 50 char has any real value left, and I dunno how many time a sane person can play the one raid dungeon over and over until he gets numb.

The misinformation and false conclusions started with Silius when he stated that the facial customization changes would not be anything drastic. Then he started backpeddling when the changes hit test saying they were in plans for months.
Now the spin is that the facial changes are part of some multi phased revamp process that is going to span several patches? I seriously hope you don't buy into that. Much like SWG I doubt any of these "we took something out that we will put back in a later patch" promises.
I see them gutting things to increase performance if they want even a decent chance at launching a free trial of the game. When it comes to lost customization and options, who really cares more: The current subscribers who are already paying or the new players who have no idea what is gone now?

Well actually many players do not see it as anything drastic and are more happy about the helmets (check the ingame chat). Silius replied to the players who were not happy about the reduced facial customisation and acknowledged also the view of others who saw the custom changes as fairly "drastic".
I dont know what the fuss is about, maybe I'm not to addicted to the game, dunno, seriously just scroll half way out from your character and have a look, tell me how one could really see a difference in the faces.

The game has its flaws but...having 100 posts of hate towards SOE or VG..That's a bit... freaky

Yes because looking at the back of your hours long customized head for 99.9% of the time is so damned important to gameplay.
Seriously i understand the time players took to make there toon look the way it does but really.... unless you sit at the char logon and dream of your avatar, why does it matter ?
Do any of you really believe that other players run up and look deep into your avatars eyes and see the depth of your devotion to a realistic face ?
More then likely there just happy the game is starting to perform better.
Course you can insert the normal blathering about how you do not notice a performance increase and whatnot i am sure it will be coming eventually.
Honestly i have a ton more sympathy for those who made a in game living by deconning named drops then i do for the graphically distraught.
