Originally posted by Darth_Pete I wonder if dwarves are getting one of those new classes?
Being that runes are a dwarvish creation, I would say Runekeeper is the class for the dwarves and possibly humans, being that humans utilized runes to greater degree in written language in Tolkien's world than they did Elvish. Warden sounds like a human only or a human and elf class to me, but I could be wrong. As for their roles, no clue, I suspect Runekeeper is something to offset the lack of dps of both the Minstrel and Lore-master for those who want a tactical role, but with a twist of something different (who knows, maybe the runes buff in a different manner than other skills that captains, lore-masters, and minstrels have...?). To emphasize, this is pure speculation.
And I'm mixed on my feelings about this expansion, I just hope they fill out south Eriador around Tharbad, as there were many bad going-ons in the appendices if I remember in relation to that region.
man i wish my stupid pc could play it i had a founders account i had to cancel . I loved the game but for some reason i couldnt play live.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

Turbine is trying to put their best foot forward and i think they are doing a great job .Just dont wana see them trip. The whole idea can't truly be tested till it has been in game. so lets just wait and see.
Great News Indeed! Hopefully the classes will be on the same level as the others and not entirely overpowered.
I doubt that, Turbine has been on top of getting all the classes balanced and under control very well. I think they know very well where these 2 new classes need to be, and won't screw them up!

I think there was some confusion with what this expansion might hold; it'll be the Mines of Moria (obviously), plus Eregion - the area south of Eriador and north of Rohan, where the fellowship goes before going into Moria - and Lothlorien, where the fellowship comes out of Moria into. That's not counting whatever could be added into the game before the launch (Forochel is on its way next book), plus the new lands that will tag along with it. There's even a possibility we could see parts or all of Mirkwood and more.
As others have said...this game is going to be huge.
Runekeeper and Warden? doesnt sound like my kind of class
but my god...those two coupled with the new stuff will make this game amazing
Didn't read all the posts here for new class speculation, but I'd guess the Warden is like a ranger class. Like a protector of the land. ...and the RuneKeeper sounds like more a mage/wizard type class. Yeah I know neither really fit with the lore for there to be lots of them running around, but maybe Tolkien family gave in since it is just a game!

Holy Cow!!! New levels... New classes... New massive area... New way of items gaining "levels"... New instances... New countries for release...
Heh, I think it's safe to say... LoTRo will be around for a very long time indeed.
I'll be very excited to read more about all these proposed additions. The only thing that I'd caution against is a rushed release for the expansion. The original game's release set a high benchmark for what we have come to expect with releases from Turbine. If for some reason the expansion is not ready by the time the release date comes around... push it back until it is ready.
With LoTRo and Turbine leading the way, perhaps the rest of the MMO gaming world will realize that it's not foolish to expect a polished product from the day of release.
Pfft... nah this game is dying... Some people posted on message forums that it is, so it has to be true.
XD
Hey I'm joking! Put the swords away!
Seriously, I'm quite psyched for the expansion. Just being able to explore Moria will be amazing. The rest of it though? Wow.
And as for the expansion into other countries. Yeah... don't think the game would be expanding farther if its sales to date in the States and Europe didn't justify it.

Yeah, welcome back, Mike I always liked watching you sharpen your wit on poor trolls and haters
If we played on the same server in LOTRO, we could found the "Anti-Troll League of Heroes", or something: Dragon, Mike, JonMichael, Jackdog (just to name a few of the best) )

i ve not actually played lord of the rings yet . it was something that interested me at launch but with the burning crusade coming out etc i never got around to it . now the games pretty cheap to buy and with this new expansion anounced i ve decided to give it a try . cya in middle earth
Well, if Turbine wishes to maintain the excellent level of service with the first big paying expansion, they must make Moria's mines to be ENORMOUS. I really expect a mine system that takes weeks just to explore, not even mentioning the monsters in the scary depths - "The dwarves have dug too deep."

I think it is extremely clever of Turbine to remain as closely linked to World of Warcraft as they can.
It has worked well for them so far and I think that for the first expansion it is another safe bet to try to emulate what World of Warcraft did but with slight (very slight) differences. It is never a shame to go after the market leader, I mean that's where the subscribers are, not in the niche markets.
Two new Classes to mimic the two new Races (and all classes shared now) in Burning Crusade.
10 new levels to mimic the 10 new levels in Burning Crusade.
New gaming area, but in the proud Lord of the Rings tradition, only Middle Earth areas that can be a staging ground for violence and conflict is really depicted, the rest is left (not important to the lore apparently). Also, they have apparently elected to remain faithful to their vision of maintaining the smallest AAA game world to make it accessible for young players as well - a hostile mob is never further away than an arrow's flight!
Legendary item system to mimic Slotting in Burning Crusade. World of Warcraft has a system for making items better and Lord of the Rings wisely choses to follow. Good move! Perhaps this will allow character differentiation? Definately a new direction for Turbine where you would normally know exactly how a given character performed based solely on their level and class!
And ofcourse, Mines of Moria will have several instance dungeons for various group sizes, just like Outlands in Burning Crusade. So far we haven't heard if Heroic (or something similar) is in the pipeline, only time will tell!

Very nice! Im gonna need some more of those founder referrals..ya know the ones that you get free time for....thanks:)
Good job to the people at Turbine, Its nice to be told what your money is going to...even nicer when a company actually follows through.
See you in the dream..

I play the game just because of the fantastic film: lord of the ring. but when I get the game, it sounds different.

Is it just me, or does that guy that say "product not yet rated" at the very end of the teaser video sound a lot like Samuel L. Jackson?
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
