I know that most of you will be doing the same.  My wife and I have each scheduled a week off for the launch date (and plan on pushing this back if anything changes or, shall i say gets pushed back).

So out of curiosity::::

I voted no.  I will not be taking any time of work.  I tend to start a new MMO a few days after release.  I like to let the hordes pass through the newbie areas first, gives me a bit of breathing space and a lot less competition for mobs etc.

I'm going to wait until reviews are up for it.

I won't make the same mistake I made with Vanguard.

    I pick option 9,

Bring the game into work and play it there!

We can't truly tell too much about the launch of AoC but i can gaurantee that it will be better then VG.  Mostly because AoC has a larger financial backing

I'll be on vacation, but playing blackjack in Vegas, not AoC at home. I'll have to wait a couple weeks to play. Hopefully the first few waves of new players will already be through.

I believe the newbie area is a single-player experience, or there is the option for it.

i hope you're not serious or atleast you are in beta when you say you are going to take vacation for this game. and VG was a good game at first because of the hopes it gave people of being something good but aoc will not give you that feeling , i do hope that the end game in aoc will be something good

While I believe thats true, I'd rather not risk t getting a shiny new mmo and it turns out to be VG all over again.

The newbie area is both single and multiplayer, which you switch between any time you want.  I think daytime is multiplayer and nighttime is single.  You switch between these by finding a bed at an Inn. I'm not 100% sure, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I would think that night time would be multiplayer

This is not the first I've heard of this.   A couple other people i know have said it's been a disappointment.   This still has not changed my enthuasiam towards this game though.   I've beta'd many games where the beta was a complete train-wheck, gone on to buy the release and played the game for 2 years.

    WoW was like that.

Then SWG had a fantastic beta, and come release the servers were up for maybe 3 days the first month,  and i don't need to tell you what they did to that game later on...

So take beta experiences with a grain of salt.   AoC has a lot of backing.  It may or may not be polished, only time will tell, but i still have high hopes for the released version.

You fail just for bringing up WoW.  Seriously...not a single person brought up this game beating WoW.  You are the reasons why people hate WoW fanbois.  Try reading post before you speak your pathetic mind.

I rule for speaking the truth, have a nice day lol!. And for the guy taking a vacation for a game, that's pretty lame, have a nice lagfest vacation and a pretty disappointed one at that.

AOC = Vanguard hate to say it. Oh and hope you have a PC from the future enjoy the lag.. LOL!.

My life isn't all that lame...I get up I work, I interact with my family etc...May 20th will be no different. I will prolly load it up when I get to it n play it later on in the eve. A new game shouldn't be a life altering event.

i ll be reading about the weeks previous letter stating another delay for AOC.

  • ShanniaShannia Member Posts: 2,096

Don't waste your vacation days in May.  Release date move is coming, bank on it.

I've said it many times, don't expect launch before October 2008.

And before anyone questions me, Avery is my witness.   I've called each of the delays to this point and I haven't been wrong yet except the timing of the last delay.  They announced the delay a month before financials instead of the week after.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Just tell me you are joking. A week precious leave days wasted for a video game ?

  • vingvegavingvega Member Posts: 577

I won't be taking off work, break out the bedpan and mountain Dew I-V, or anything for this game until it has been out for at least 2 months after release.  The reason being, no matter how good it sounds it's going to be bug mania.  I'm gonna sit it out and wait for a couple patches and try a trial possibly, then give it a shot.  After Vanguard, I will never buy an MMO at release or pre-order.  I still have a bad taste in my mouth with that snaffu.  It looks like a great game, don't get me wrong, but i'm gonna just wait it out for a bit.
