It is plan to see that Funcom and EIDOS had to figure out how to get ingame advertising into the game. It also makes me wonder how far long the M$ version of the game has come along as well.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

NO! They delayed to add more to the game.

Per'aps they think the players will be too busy decapitating and looking at topless girls to notice the ads?

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Order of the White Border.
or they might just want to make some money?

If you pay a monthly sub for a game it's DOWNRIGHT STUPID for them to put ads in there.
Ads belong in F2P games
Lol well that's my 2 cents anyways

I didnt know trolls knew how to use photoshop. And they sure are busy tonight.
I have no problem with the ingame advertising...
It is the part about giving my user name, name, email address, address, phone number, etc to the advertiser that pisses me off just because I accept the EULA.
That is a really low blow and invasion of privacy.

I should start reading games' EULAs more carefully...but it's like a wall of text...ahh my eyes...
Agree with you Shannia.

Well maybe they will have an option?
Where if you pay 15 bucks no ads.
or
Where you play with ads for free.

...Which is no different really than just having no ads.

I really don't care if they have adds ingame or not.
They had it in Anarchy Online and it didn't bother me one bit and if i cared i could make them go away by going into the options and uncheck adds.Froobs still had to watch them though but that's just fair when they offered a lot in AO for free.
Sometimes it was actually fun to run around in the towns to seee if there were new adds added on the billboards.

The evidence is another thread on these boards?
sigh.....Shannia give it a rest dude....
in fact the Devs prolly have no idea this was even added to the EULA as those types of things are written by lawyers and they just want to cover their bases in the event of this gaming bombing.....
all this means if the game bombs they will go the same route as AO for a free to play game
done the end...
Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.
Your evidence is another forum post here on this site?

More precisely, i screenshot that used to exist in another forum post on this site. It has since been removed.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
Yes, I saw it, just thought it as weird at the time since it doesn't give any backing on the title of this thread. "Now we know the real reason why Funcom delayed the game" according to the OP. I'm still waiting to see how he/she came into this conclusion in the first place.
As for the advertisement itself, it all depends on how intrusive it will be. I would dislike seeing advertisements in a game I'm already paying a subscription.
So it all comes down to how they will implement it, IF they implement it.
Xasapis, the linked post originally contained a screenshot that was an NDA violation, that's why there's nothing to see anymore.
I won't go into details, but all it showed was that (IF it wasn't faked AND it is still otherwise factual) Funcom reserves the right to possibly introduce advertising in some form somewhere down the road if they choose to. They probably have an eye on possibly reintroducing the free with ads classic vs. paid without ads expansions system they have with Anarchy Online years from now when AoC begins losing steam.

I did not question the screenshot. I question the relevance of the screenshot to the title of this thread. How did the OP came into the conclusion he/she did with only that screenshot? For all we know, it could preluded the original delay.
The thread says that we now know. Personally I'm still in the dark beyond what Funcom claimed regarding the reasons for the delay. This thread adds nothing to enlighten the situation or point to a different direction.
If anything, they were saving time by using the current Anarchy Online EULA, seeing as it would probably be the same legal speak, might as well just cut and paste...
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I just hope that, at least while the only way to play AoC is through paying subs, that the ads won't exist. Once it goes "free to play" (at least partially) like AO, then you can sneak the ads in for those people who aren't paying.
AoC better not stink, or this will smack them hard in the face double if they put ads into the game AND that the game is poopy.
The answer to your question will reveal itself in May. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong. It is of my opinion (we are all allowed to have them) that the delay was not only for AoC's benefit, but also that of M$ and EIDOS. The reasons are obvious.

wtf ads???
Im not willing to pay 15$ a month then
Im not gonna buy this game anymore
it's almost scary how people like this guy blindly follow someone who has a lot of hatred for a game because they didn't make the crafting system just for shannia, and the extremely small population of hardcore crafters.
I suppose Shannia should be happy he/she is able to actually get people to believe in the drivel she writes on a daily basis around here.
That reminds me, Why exactly are you still here if you were so burned by funcom about the whole crafting issues, shannia? You obviously have nothing to offer except trolls, which are in abundance on the mmorpg forums.

Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light, The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloths under your feet: But I, being poor, have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
I wouldn't mind ads if it was accutly you know along the lines, you know like doing ads for sword sellers or makers. You know things that would make sense. I mean i dont think coke or pepsi can do anything in the game, even tho it would be pretty funny.
