Overall it's a huge miss on what can be expected from this genre of games. Did you even bother to read the press realese on why the game got delayed in the first place? A huge amount of negative feedback was given by the beta testers. If you think they revamped the whole system, you are dead wrong, same crap with minor tweaks. So I guess the beta testers didn't know what a good mmo was either? I been gaming since atari mates(directed to the 40 year old calling me noob). When you see Conan 7.4 IGN, 7.0 Gamespot, 70% Gsamerankings average( ireally dont care about scores, but an example of a below average game). Come back to this thread and apologize, LOL.

Trond says that there are "massive expectations" for the game and they have a better shot at delivering on them with this delay. Age of Conan's director, Gaute Godager, also provided some feedback:
"We are honored by the immense reception our game is constantly getting, with an astounding amount of positive press coverage, awards and magazine covers, but we still see that we need to polish some aspects of the game even further, especially when it comes to the entry barriers. With the added development time we can now deliver something even more unique and powerful, something which is worthy of the incredible Conan legacy."
Closing thoughts, THEY KNOW THEY FELL SHORT , admited it, and tried to buy more time, but there is not enough time to fix it, that would require revamping the whole game. The only thing i can say good about it is the graphics are great....thats it when compared to other MMO's on the market. it's no Gears of War or nothing, just pretty for an mmo.

I would like to see some additional information on why the OP has come to the conclusion that he/she has, though.
With AoC, I'm expecting EQ2 style graphics, SWG (fps) 'with jousting' combat, WoW 'barrens chat' attitude, Duke Nuke'em 'shake it baby' b00bs, Mortal Combat 'finishing moves' gore, all in a land ruled by the Guv'inah of Khali'fyornia.
Kidding.
But seriously, what makes the game 'bland'? I know what it would mean If I were to say that, it would mean that it was just another fantasy RPG without any apparent tie to the IP. 'Generic' in nature. Like someone slapped a Conan label on a fantasy based MMO after stripping elve's out of the game (of course).
I'm not actually saying those things about the game, I haven't played it yet. But if I were to try to interpret the OP's statement, that's the meaning I would probably derive from it.

To the OP, you seem to have come to the wrong room. The WOW romper room is down the hall and to the left. I'm pretty sure it's nap time so all you will have today will be finger painting and your milk and cookies.
HMmmm having played wow, and left it in the dust, having played lotro till lvl 42 and left that in the dust, lotro was imo better than wow, but both were just so corny, Nope dont think i will go back to those 2 games think i would go back to eq2 if anything, wish saga of ryzom was still around, i would go back to that, would like to go back to earth and beyond but obviously i cant cause its shut down, would even go back to eve, but i have no urge to go back to wow or lotro, Right now I am very fond of vanguard, played it at launch and the game was a trainwreck, picked it back up at around xmas time and have been immensly enjoying it.

Ok, curious, what do you consider a great MMO?
Are you one of those Old School UO/EQ Players who want things the way there were in the past that pretty much a small amount (as compared to today) of players still yearn for? Or are you one of those SWG players that for some reason can't move on years later after the NGE (friend of mine played earlly SWG and he's shocked that people are still complaining "what? how many years ago was that? People are still angry?"

hmmm, eve is an ok game, but if you mean deep by economy, then yes you are correct, but if you mean deep by training offline for years and running the same damn boring missions over and over and over then thats not very deep, circling around a ship pew pew is not very deep either, the large scale battles are cool thuogh, but really whats deep about eve besides the economy and pvp, crafting a factory run of ships while you do dishes?, nahh thats not deep to me either.

1° I won't play AOC until we'll have more details + open beta or trial or the end of NDA.
2° I won't come back to Wow because left wow in jan2006 (played 1 month) and won't come back to lotro because prefer PVP games and ... don't like Lotro.
3° Let people free to play , to buy or to do something else.
Actually play EQ2 + legend of norrath, Dark age of camelot, sometimes offline games. Play sometimes VG and Anarchy Online.
Eve is an interesting game, maybe my next one with TCOS. Don't care about overhyped games.

Beta testers didnt like the combat rose and that was removed with a more simplified combo system that didnt require you to look at some kind of rose but the actual action.

I'm sure this game is going to be pretty cool.
I'm excited to play it. I won't go back to Lord of the Rings or World of Warcraft... I tried going back to both of them and I couldn't get into either. Sheesh I'm even playing a trial of Matrix Online to keep me occupied. 
Though good news for me... I got accepted into the AoC technical beta. woot woot!

I'm not missing any key word. And by the way, 'gamerankings average' is a key phrase, not word. See, I can be immature as well. Yes, trolling is a claim or statement made to create negative feedback with no varifiable evidence to support such claim or statement. Saying that the game will fail because it was delayed several months ago to create more time to fix problems is just downright idiotic. Now, if you can prove that Funcom hasn't made changes for the better, then we might think you're not an immature trolling wowhead.
