They've been pulling your legs for 7 FREAKIN YEARS. DF fans should be happy this is out there. Maybe now they'll actually get some REAL NEWS and info. Or find out that there is no real news and info...
This marks the slow downward spiral for Darkfall if they don't step up to the plate and counter this with quality news and material. Because if they DON'T than it just shows that they have nothing to bring to the table.
This is TERRIBLE for a project. It just makes their project look like a joke publically and they will never get a publisher now..
It's time to step up to the plate or go home..
funcom might be eating some crow if darkfall ever hits beta. very childish on both parts for resorting to mudslinging.
however i think the mmo world is due for an enema. too many wow clones. too much similarity in games these days. the big companies cannot bring diversity. more and more i think that indie companies are the wave of the future for mmo gaming. after funcom decided to take shots at what is essentially a small startup dev team i honestly hope darkfall becomes a breakout title.
it is time for a indie team to send funcom-soe-blizzard-turbine the way of the dinosaur!

They are the ones constantly comparing themselves to the big boys and acting like they have the holy grail of MMORG's , with nothing to back it up with.. It's long past due that they were called out on it..
One of two things will happen. Either they will shut up completely now for like 6 months until they release another alpha video..... or they will actually show some quality movies with real gameplay and info...

Lets see, there's only 2 mmo's on the market with an M rating, Second Life and Age of Conan. Do you really think he was referring to Second Life with this comment?

He is using a friggin rumor to mudsling at AoC. AoC is the only mmo I can remember in recent history that has any mention of invisible walls in it and that's not even confirmed.

Lets see if the Darkfall boys actually decide to reply to this with some actual quality news like a Beta to save themselves from becoming the biggest joke in this industry... which by all accounts may have already happened long ago..

Darkfall devs aren't concerned about promoting their game, so the game sites will start doing it for them: with articles such as this. So, Tasos can come up with a game, or watch as Darkfall becomes more and more known to the public as a joke.
Edit: To all the Darkfall fanbois, your messiah just got bitch-slapped on a major gaming site, with one of the largest numbers of mmorpg gamers subscribed and reading it daily. Might wanna give Tasos an e-hug and tell him "It's okay, don't cry!".

There is going to be a point when the DF community is going to say...... wtf? You can only string people along for so long. People cant be that freaking stupid? or can they? Its going to be a freaking, pathetic shame to see people follow DF for another however long. The DF dev's need to get with the times, only chimps get excited over pictures. DF dev's behave like they have somthing special that has never been done before in any other mmo to date. If the DF dev's want, they could make some dev vids showing some things or what have you.
Again, all DF dev's have to show (after years of so called work) is a community of adults that behave like pathetic trash.

It is almost unbelievable what a game in development can make out of some ppl. Well.. long gone the days of a mature community, and i guess we will never see one again. And to even comment something like that is a waste of time.
I really cant understand all those hatred, and even more between AoC and Darkfall, those games have nothing in common.
All I've seen from Darkfall is a few screenshots, most of which look horribly outdated. However, the new ones look a little better. Though, you could just max out the graphics and take a screenshot. I see claims of it being able to run on a low-end graphics card. I call bull-crap, there is no single MMO that will ever be able to have large-scale battles and have amazing graphics as well. At least, there won't be one in the near future, that's for sure. Even the smart gamers know that the AoC recommended settings are bull-crap. You need a solid graphics card to get the best of both worlds, graphics and gameplay. Darkfall has very little video content out there, most of which are generic fly-throughs. They talk everyone up with their amazing gameplay mechanics and visions to make an amazing world for any type of gamer, yet they have shown next to nothing to support their claims.
Ultimately, how does the main developer of a game take shots at other games that have either already been released or already have a release date and is in a closed beta, soon to go public? How do you talk trash when you have nothing to back up your claims? It's like a 120 lb 7th grade nerd talking trash to a 200 lb football players with ninjas standing next to him. That is just idiotic, and in my opinion, I think that's horribly unprofessional for a person of such high stature to look as intelligent as a 10 year old. You just simply don't do things like this, so either he didn't follow the wished of the PR department (assuming there is one) or he is doing it for a reason.
What is that reason? I can think of two things. Draw attention to his game by bringing in negative (or positive) views of the general public, who knows if it will even work... or ... He's ready to send back a punch to the kidneys by announcing a closed beta and a tentative release date. hah.. sorry.
Or.. he could be blowing up the ship because they have lost so much money already and instead of... oh nevermind, how could anyone be that dumb? 0_o

First of all, i never thought that this guy is a offical from AoC, he is obviously a AoC fanboy.. and that i refered, i talked about the hartred of the fanbase of AoC and Darkfall. It is almost unbelievable how emotional some ppl can get for a game in development.. and the same is true for some DF fans, or other games, or the gaming community in general... nowadays.Granted, i have also written a lot about games, and i am interested in different game concepts, and like it to discuss about it and even had heated debates.. and i like it. But i had never anything personal against someone i discussed, or would flame or attack him personally. And that such a behavior is childrish. Thats all.
Umm.....sorry to disappoint you and shoot down your argument but there are more than 2 MMOs with a M rating. Shaiya and 2 Moons are both M rated just to mention a few. The M rating is the main reason I will stay away from AoC as it will be full of immature little 13 year old's with access to mommy's credit card. It will turn out to be one of the most immature and down right rude communities of any game out there.
As for this editorial I'd have to say that this is way overboard as a reply to a few off hand remarks by Tasos. While I do agree with some of the things in the article he went way beyond what a professional journalist should have and may have lost a little bit of credibility in both the DF and AoC camps. I do however have to give the AoC community credit for distancing themselves from this rant. The DF community should do the same. I will however be waiting with great anticipation for Tasos's response to this. Even though I think it was rather childish for a professional journalist to do this it may be the kick in the pants the DF team needs to get a little more out there in the public eye.
Edit: On rereading the editorial I realized that Weezer is not a professional writer employed by Warcry Networks and is just a Blogger. This makes the childishness of this editorial a little more understandable as he didn't have a job on the line just his credibility. Sorry for the mistake in my original post.

Never heard of Darkfall before; but after reading the OP's post, I think I might like it :P. I prefer good gameplay, real worlds, and immersion; as opposed to diluted gameplay, facades, and instant travel. Why again do we need the ability to see the world in 5 minutes?
Did I read that AoC was focusing on PvP? I know of only one MODESTLY successful PvP game, and it got that way by sheer brute force (advertising). By advertising every single day, Eve has managed to attract more players than it loses over the years (which is saying a lot).
I wish AoC every bit of success; and like many became very excited by reading of its possibilities. I will check the reviews upon launch, but the OP has illustrated it probably isn't for me. Among other things, we must look at the target demographic. And clearly AoC's primary target is early teens.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.

harsh really harsh. Aoc devs said it wasnt possible to do what darkfall wants because are tech isnt up to par yet. well someone did. In that case...I've been wasting my time with you over these threads. The only reason you are so behind DF is because you are new to it. Most of us have watched it for more than a year...more than 2 years. We've seen this same crap each year...the stuff you swear as "new" information and set beta testing.
