Better licensess than world of conan

Conan was never popular, scharzenegger did a conan movie which was good but it was in 1980. Its very old. Oh and I mean better licenses that arent taken so no Star wars or lotr

The ones I remember about are Dungeons and Dragons, Oceans twelve, Strar trek and WWE wrestling kind of thing, maybe UFC

Well that's true but I've seen very few people who are playing this for the IP, I see more people who want a change of pace and/or blood and boobs.

    --------------------------------------
A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

    Order of the White Border.

On a more serious note, I am surprised no-one ever did a take on the humerous Hong Kong martial arts movies; perhaps in a more modern setting.

An Indiana Jones one would be kinda cool.

And for the record, Conan was popular going back to the 1930's.

In some respects the SOE spy game will have a feel of an Oceans Eleven with its music and gameplay. So I think someone is at minimum looking to fill that space.

A Dungeons and Dragons MMO exists to this day. The fact you say you are a fan and did not know is scary.

Star Trek just went poof with Perpetual Entertainment, with rumors floating about that Cryptic has picked it up. So that may still be on its way.

As for wrestling, I think there are limited things you occupy the time. This would feel more like a matchmaking or "gamespy" type system which was tried with Fury.

My opinion, im sure it smells like roses to me, and poo to some others :)

You're right the movie was not popular, good thing aoc isn't based on it.  It's based on the original works of Robert E. Howard short stories written back in the 1930's.  Which those stories started a series of other conan tales by various authors, also comic books and then the movies which were based on the comic books IMO and had no connection to the original works for the most part.

    Funny.

Until LOTR became movies, it was looked upon as "geeks world", and not really a "popular" IP in these days really.

There were the books, wich got you laughed at if you admitted to reading them.

Then there were the 70's animated movie wich was so bad it flopped seriously bad.. They never finished the trilogy, and you could almost only get a copy via bootleg/piracy..

Not until the movies it became a huge thing, almost bigger than "titanic"..the movie

The we have Conan of Cimmeria, of wich there are dozens and dozens of books published, worldwide.

It also has a comic that is released in quite alot of countries worldwide.

And a movie that wasnt that great, but bred a generation of conan geeks, who'd rather wear skin and have a sword than portray Luke Skywalker during haloween.

To you, it might not be a great IP, since it's rather obvious that you never cared for the Cimmerian or the big business he has been since 1934.. But for the Conan fans? The IP is bigger than you think.

Man I really enjoyed the Lotr cartoon when I was a kid,That is what got me started to reading the books,I guess with its colouring it was more of a viewers choice sort of thing.

John Carter of Mars would be an even better license.   In that one some of the barsoom women have 6 brests!!

Anyway if you haven't read them the books are free on the internet.  It's a great set of stories that actually predate conan but have a lot of similar style.  Do a search on John Carter, Mars, or Barsoom.

What's with the 'A Conan movie?' There were two Conan movies, 1981, 1984. I personally loved the 'DragonLance' series and 'Forgotten Relms'. Think those two could be decent MMOs.

WWE!!  Oceans 12??!?  UFC??!?  How on earth would they translate to MMO's?

Conan is actually an almost perfect IP for a MMO.  Large IP's with too much publicity are so risky because there is so much to live up to and so many ravenous fans to please.  Conan has all of the great backstory needed, and enough fans to support it, but it also allows them to take some liberties with the design without being crucified.  The best part is how adult oriented it is.

Anyway though other IP's that would do great as MMO's would be:

Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Total Recall, Blade Runner, Blade, Interview with a Vampire,  Thundercats, GI Joe, Carebears, the Neverending Story, and the Illiad and Odyssey.

    I snuck one in there.

    1) Star Ocean

    2) Suikoden

    3) Baulders Gate

I think those titles could have potential in the MMO genre.

Damn if there is room for a wrestling MMO then just make a football hooligan's MMo alot more scope there....for real I would say a ip screaming to be made into a mmo is Chronicals of narnia,If handled right that could be great MMo.

Do you read at all? Never mind silly question. Ocean's twelve, wrestling,ufc...how old are you? In any event all of these ideas are very silly to say the least.

I doubt the original poster is old enough to play conan.

Oceans12 isnt a good ip... mainly as it has little if any lore to pull from.

The reasons Conan, LOTR, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Dungeons and Dragons make such good mmo's is there is such a deep world to pull from.

An Oceans12 MMO would be rather shallow. Your better off going with a GTA MMO, or splinter cell MMO... and neither of them imo would have much lore either, but at least have bigger fan bases.

The other thing that makes a good IP is history and customer base. Your going to see most good IP's coming from 80's or earlier. Anything that old has loyal fans that span generations.

Oceans12 has a fraction of the conan, star trek, or LOTR fan base.

Fallout-  would rock theres just some much they could do with that. if it was announced it would instantly go to the top of my most wanted list.

Starcraft- theres no way this game would be anything short of great.

I would love both of those.  Why EA doesn't  do Wasteland is beyond me.
