If there was a way to handle the turn based part of it "Shinning Force" would be great to see! But like the others I cant wait for Conan to come out!

There is an IP that many here wont remember but "Thundercats" was a great cartoon when I was a kid,It has all the classes there and even somewhat of a story to work on,again not maybe a story that goes back to the 1940's but for sure has something to build on.

If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

    Airwolf

    Nightrider

  • Even though fantasy is getting a bit thick in this market...

Dragonlance, Belgariad, and Sword of Truth books would all make sweet worlds to be a part of.

    Outside of books....

    Masters of the Universe?

    Thundarr the Barbarian?

    Starblazers?

Maybe someone has an idea on a whole different type of MMO world?  I know.....FRIENDS ONLINE!! MAGNUM PI ONLINE!!

    Doctor Who the MMO...

And the best part is that everybody can play the title character! We can all be clones of dr. Who!

I'll play Tom Baker one if I may. :)

I think conan is fine for an MMO but IP's I would love to see is Blade Runner, RoboTech, Transformers, Dune, V, GI Joe, He-Man and The Predator.

What's with the 'A Conan movie?' There were two Conan movies, 1981, 1984. I personally loved the 'DragonLance' series and 'Forgotten Relms'. Think those two could be decent MMOs.

Yeah,,,Conan was never popular. Which explains the 2nd Conan movie...because...as we all know...whenever a movie fails at the box office...the Big Studios rush to make a sequel.

Not to mention the main actor's (Arnold) career was over after that... oh wait... I guess he did make a few other small movies (Terminator series, Action Hero, Kindergarten cop, Eraser....etc etc...)

They have all of Robert E. Howards works on Wikipedia...If any of you guys are into the whole sword and sorcery genre I suggest goin there and spending some time reading them. They have alot of mature and dark elements in them (they were written during the great depression)  And a good D&D game ,if you like dated ones, is Neverwinter Nights the original...There are alot of mods and things you can get and NVN2 is releasing more and more as time goes on.

A Cyberpunk MMO ala either Shadowrun or William Gibson's world from Neuromancer / Mona Lisa Overdrive / Count Zero / Virtual Light etc., would be totally awesome.  I'm for either one.  Still wondering how the Neuromancer movie is going to turn out considering Hayden Chirstenson (anakin) is playing Case...

Looking forward to seeing what they'll do with the World of Darkness MMO which is a great license, though hard to say how well it'll translate to an MMO.

Fallout MMO is "possibly" in the works as when Interplay sold the rights to Bethesda they put a clause or such in the agreement for the rights to make a Fallout MMO.  Whether or not it'll happen is anyone's guess, though.

But I'm definitely for a dark modern MMORPG (WoD) or near future/cyberpunk (Shadowrun /etc.) or Post Apocalyptic (like Fallout, and yes I know about Fallen Earth.)

As far as other IPs, yeah like one guy mentioned a Star Ocean MMO would be cool.  I know they're making Star Ocean 4 for the ps3, be interesting if Square Enix made a Star Ocean MMO.  I think it would work quite well.

It'd be interesting if this happened as well: http://www.rpgamer.com/games/megten/imagine/imagine.html

As I like the Shin Megami Tensei setting, wondering if a MegaTen game would ever make it online...

Conan is a great license, though.  As the original books are very, very good IMO.  The Secret World that is being made sounds very Lovecraftian, though translating a direct Lovecraft lore game would be quite impossible as those stories don't fit that well into many genres.  Some kind of Alone in the Dark MMO, perhaps the Secret World is it, would be quite interesting.

And just thinking of something random, some kind of Mortal Kombat or other fighting type game (Soul Calibur, etc.) would be quite interesting as a different kind of MMO.  "Questing" or training moves instead of gaining levels and then fighting against people for money/prizes/etc.  With clans/tournaments, all in some big world.  You could buy different outfits I suppose like Tekken 5.  But in an MMO like fighting game.  Might be interesting.  Just thinking out loud on that one though =P.  Kind of like the quest modes on some of those newer fighting games, taken to the extreme. Create your own character, moves, etc.  Could be quite interesting, and highly competitive.

Conan is the best for me out of the ones listed here. Big fan of the lore. It's going to tie in well with the new Conan movie scheduled for release next year.

Stargate universe is really the only other IP to mind right now I would like to see as an mmo (apart from a decent Star Trek one (but I kinda gave up hope there) )

Almost impossible with todays technology to make a mortal kombat style MMO.  The lag would kill the game, most people don't have access to t1 or t3.

D&D's Forgotten Realms would be a great one.  Why would they make another one?  Because no one likes Eberron, it is the least popular of the IP's.  I remember my buddy testing it out, we both looked at it and uninstalled it in less than an hour.  It has more instances than Guild Wars.

Heres one for ya.  Descent Online.  Kind of like Jumpgate Evolution or Eve, but more individual fighter based combat with a more Doom-esqe feel to it.  I was thinking about GTAO, but the Agency should get a look at the first sims action MMO, well, besides the Sims Online.

Then there is Diablo Online, also, Mythos Online.  Though, I think neither would bring what I believe is an untapped and unexplored genre of Hack and Slash correctly to the forefront.  Imagine a game like Titan Quest as a MMO.  Full exploration, Iso-metric view, large view distance, crafting,  fast paced PvP.  Fun dungeon crawls.  No auto attack snooze fest.  It's something that hasn't been done, I think someone should try.

    Just my two cents..

    Wing Commander Online

    Shadowrun Online

    Mechwarrior/Battletech Online

    Gamma World Online

Those are a few I'd like to see done. My others, Fallout and Warhammer 40K, hopefully are more on the way to happening. I've heard good rumor that Interplay was gathering the ingredients for Fallout Online and I know that Warhammer 40K online has already been worked on for a little over a year so we should start seeing something about it in 2009.
