EU prices are most likely due to the server farm rental and personnel costs are way higher than in the US.

Do we know where the servers are likely to be hosted as WoW shows that having them in France with Telia is a bad bad idea.

we pay 0ver $20 in the uk :( that sucks

  • BoosthungryBoosthungry Member Posts: 137

diffrence in price was discussed in the past.  Eventually everyone agree'd it was due to taxes.

  • HousamHousam Member Posts: 1,460

other game seem fine with £9

I hope they place them in the Netherlands.

If i'm not mistaked Turbine did that with LOTRO and those servers rarely have problems.

Seems like standard MMO pricing.  Nothing crazy to see here... Move along.

    QFT!

Prices are pretty standard. 1€ more or less is not such a big deal and with that +1 € the game still costs like WoW and I'm sure AoC is worth a lot more then WoW.

I don't know what you think you agreed. But the subcription price to Europeans is 20 dollars into month, and the VAT comes only on top of that. I never agreed that Funcom asking us Europeans 1/3 more before taxes would be caused by taxes.

But, I don't want to generate another argument about that. I just get mad at people who decide to tell that something was discussed and agreed when it was discussed but not agreed.

I was worried we were going to be paying $20 or more over here in the US. We got lucky.  We are very poor over here in America. Huge Credit card debt, like 6 cars per household, Medical debt, porn debt, and huge child support payments.  I had no idea how I was gonna afford $20 a month.

  • findaratofindarato Member Posts: 74

LOL who has a "huge porn debt"?

  • randomtrandomt Member UncommonPosts: 1,220

Looks about standard.. I agree with any slight raise in your usual mmo subscription fee, if the extra goes back towards infrastructure and personel.  Especially as it mmo is much more mainstream than in the past, and so they need more infrastructure (network/hardware) and personel than they would have otherwise needed if mmo's were just niche games still

Maybe he meant Internet subscription fees. I mean... the Internet is for porn, right?

14,95€ /per month is pretty standard MMO monthly payment in EU area and I personally don't have anything to say about the price. Glad it's now verified.

Well it just seems like a higher price because we compare it to the US prices and we all know that the US$ is not worth the paper it's printed on at the moment.

When i started paying for Ultima Online back in 97 i paid in USD and it was like 100 Dkr when converted.

If i buy a 6 month period in AoC i will pay 94 Danish kroner Incl tax or month so it's pretty standard prices.

So what is this shit?!? How come those westeners ALWAYS get away with cheaper subscription rates? At the current rate 14.99 USD is 92,30 swedish krona, but 14,94 EURO is a whopping 142,66 swedish krona per month... WTF?!? That's almost 40% more expensive!

  • HousamHousam Member Posts: 1,460

    Shure.

We don't do pay for health care, and we don't get any either anyway. Ok, that sounds blatent but there actually is starting to become some thruth in it. But this not a political discussion. If you do want to trade, trade with a french.

Even the SOE pricing with +VAT adding up to $17 something is cheaper than Funcoms price. I can't understand why they need to add +VAT. Is that because Norway is not a member of EU, but then again I don't see any +VAT on the US subscription. Is Norway another star in the US flag?

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

I think it is directed to the swedish subscribers for some smartass comment made about Norway being the last Soviet state.

Heck reading that Telenor is charging a swede $7000, in internet fee, for watching a youtube movie on the phone while it in Sweden for the same company (Telenor) would have costed $15 a month.
