omg this is so lame. i preordered yesterday in order to get early access. doesnt look like im going to get it now. gotta cancel my preorder so that i can actually go pick it up on the 20th (i ordered online so it will ship on the 20th)
same here could have done it this morning but was to lazy wanted to do it now and option is gone hehe bad luck for me but saves me on the download now just hoping that my CE gets here in time
"One day all will die, surely you but never I." Wheel of Time
I'm annoyed about this situation. I did not get invited to the beta, so I was waiting for some feedback from the community on how certain parts of the game work. Having read a lot of information, I felt AoC was worth a try and pre-ordered last night.
I got in late last night, and registered my pre-order code this morning, assuming that it would be fine since the downloading was supposed to START being available today. I had no idea that they would cut off the number of people who could join the early start would be cut off on the very day the download started... they should have at least waited until the day before the early start would happen.
There were still a TON of pre-order boxes available at the Best Buy I went to, so anyone else who pre-orders now will not have the opportunity to join the early launch - and I guarrantee no sticker will be placed on the boxes or websites to the contrary.
With your pre-order of Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, you will be able to participate in the 3-day Early Access Program. Early access period starts on May 17, 3 days before the commercial release on May 20, 2008. You may begin downloading the game client files and installing as early as May 14. With early access, there is a nominal fee of $5 payable online when you download the client, which covers the cost of the download and includes 10 days of additional game time.
I see NO mention of any limit on the number of people who can download the client and join the early release. In fact, it clearly says, "If you pre-order, you WILL be able to participate....".
This is a load of crap. Sorry for replying to myself .
Funcom did update their website www.ageofconan.com/order_US.html Eligibility to purchase entry to Hyboria a few days before launch is no longer available, as the optional Early Access download is now sold out.
I'm glad they went through this action, to at least be consistent going forward. However, it doesn't help anyone who had already ordered a pre-order but hadn't been able to activate yet.
Well the Funcom Forums are litterally on fire because of this. There are a lot of pissd off gamers ovr there and Funcom is not goingto come out of this unscathed if they don't fix this and fix it soon. It is getting nasty....really nasty.
well guess i did good by activating my early access yesterday and i was thinking about deleying it too. i would of been pissed hehe well anyways see all my early access folk saturday!!
I dunno if you guys are watching that thread over there...but you cannot stay up with the number of post because a new page is added like every 2 seconds to the thread! Amazing. Never have I seen a forum explode like the AoC one is doing today. LOL! Funcom stepped into this pile upto their necks right out of the gate.
its just 3 days guys. Think of it as having 3 more days of anticipation Besides more than likely they will have ther servers down sevral times with preorder to fix last minute issues, think of it as less pain for those who did not get the early access. That and it is a good way to "space out" the crowds on noobin camps.

Exactly, I have the same card right in front of me. It even has the funcom symbol down bottom lol.
This is very disheartening. I am almost fed up with the lack of open beta and now this. I'm going to look very hard at my options and decide if I really want to play a game that's being so mismanaged.
Its ironic, I was the head reporter of AO Stratics that covered Anarchy Online for a year and a half; this time, I have so many worries.
Will my system handle this game? What class should I play? Will I be able to catch up to my guildmates or will I always be behind them? Am I going to be erroneously billed for something on my credit card? Will this game be around in a month? Is the cost of purchasing AoC worth it?
Why don't I have the sense of grandeur and excitement running through me, now? Why am I not frothing at the bit to be able to immerse myself in a world of fantasy?
I wonder how many early access they allowed for? 500K? 250K? Anyone care to speculate?
Over ninethousand!
90% sure they mentioned somewhere they've had 1 million people sign up to it already which is pretty crazy.
I quote "Hurry though, because the Early Access is only available while supply lasts!" - there you have it folks. If you havent yet recieved your code and therefore couldnt purchase Early Access you should be blaming the retailer not Funcom.

They had over 1 million people apply for the beta. Early access I imagine was probably around 25-50k per continent.
I love people who pre-order yesterday, now, what ever, and expect the world. You're late to the party, suck it up, go QQ in a corner and wait for release.
Sure, it sucks, and I would be pissed too if I pre-ordered a game and didn't get what was promised, but then again, why wait till the 11th hour? If you knew you had interest in the game, you knew you wanted to play the early access, you should have pre-ordered sooner.
I think Funcom should have said "Limited to "X" people" and you know what, they probably did some where. I certainly remember seeing the word "limited" a lot when referencing the pre-orders and early access.
There for, if you're not in because you waited till now to do something about it.. then don't cry on forums... you missed out... you screwed up, your life is obviously over, now go cut yourself or something.
Hey TSW Players http://www.unfair.co/ for Mission guides, Lore Locations and stuff....
I just registered my pre-order key today(about 2hrs ago).
At first, I ran into the same issue, 'all sold out'. I have no idea why but I decided to check back about 20mins later.
I hit the early access link, like I had done before, and this time it let me sign-up and it billed my CC.
The only other thing I did was that I lowered my sub cycle then I hit early access. I changed my sub cycle back to what it was, after the early access went through. I don't belive anything I did with my subscription plan really did anything. I'm just saying what I did.
Again, I don't know why it let me after it said it was sold out but it may be worth checking/trying again for anyone that cares to.
I thought the May 2nd date was for EU pre-order registrations only and that NA/Oceania reg's were supposed to start today. IDK!?!
Anyhow, GL!

aw man, I hope they are joking. I preordered to get the early 3 days and now they just take it away. This is just bad bad bad. I was expecting them to have launch issues, but this? haha, they gonna have a outcry about this.
Well I am glad I preordered it from gamestop when it was first mentioned. They have now charged me for the game and the early access. I am ready to roll w/ the 3 day headstart. I agree that it does not say there is a limit but I am glad I did it as quickly as I did. They actually sent me my code on 4/26 for the early access.

Im gonna call them directly, if they cannot keep up the bargains they offer themselfs I won't buy the product. I sadly feel very strongly about issues like this when a product are sold with included early access and then people don't recieve it. This sadly can give a pointer on how they can act with future issues in the game.
I really hope this get sorted out as I been looking forward to this and taking off work to play early access.

No. Over the past three years or so, they had a million people sign up for beta.
The only thing that number means is that at at least one point over the last three years, there has been enough interest to spawn a million beta applications.
It also means that as many as 950,000 potential customers who applied never got a beta invite and if they still had any interest in the game as of last month, they saw Open Beta go to Fileplanet instead of them.
In short, that number means absolutely nothing other than to show that there was a potential audience for the game. How much of that potential Funcom is able to tap is completely up in the air.
I would like to see the numbers as well for the early access program. I expected the CE edition to sell out like in all other games but it def does not say on ebgames site that access is limited.

No I never got to confirm, as I said something came up and I had to wait till this morning, now the early access option is gone off my sub page.
