Funcom can take their game and shove it. Seeing at registration that I wasn't getting something I thought I'd paid for was not pleasant.
The card I was given at Gamestop said nothing about limitations, and I don't have time to troll forums to look for every piece of information from the devs.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is looking better every day.
First, I don't believe Funcom or Eidos are running a scam of any sort or doing anything illegal. Having said that I do believe that one or the other purposely put a mechanism in place that could mislead people into thinking that by pre-ordering they gain early access. Fine print, in a legal document, is highly important because it's often needed to clearify things.
Now let's look at fine print in regard to Funcom and Eidos. Remember the first time you seen the "FREE XBOX" advertisement or "FREE LAPTOP" to later find out you have to sign up and order several different promotional packages just to have a 'chance' to receive that?
Funcom and/or Eidos has used the same tactic here, sprinkling abscure bits of information here and there, to fall back on for PR spinning.
Temp: Serious question. Are you employed by Eidos or Funcom?
Clearly you didn't read the thread, Vato26. They are NOT being shady, it has been PROVEN.

And clearly YOU, BigMango didn't read that we admit it was a MISCOMMUNICATION.
Use your brain. Since EA costs 5 bucks, if everyone really would get access, then that's 5 more bucks for funcom.
WHy in the HELL would they DELIBERATELY cut themselves of possibly thousands of additional 5 dollars?
No, I thoroughly read this thread. Apparently you did not. Or, if you did, your rose-colored glasses prevented you from seeing the factual evidence linking the action of the producer's of AoC to shady business practices. Regardless of if it is a "miscommunication" or not, it still sounds shady to me. Backpedling is what I see when the producers tried to explain away what happened. They knew that people found out what they did, so they did damage control. Hence, why they tried to reopen more slots for early access.
Truthfully, I really couldn't care less about what happens to AoC. All I know is that I see this whole entire ordeal as a shady business practice, which speaks entirely of the ethics of both companies. I don't know exactly if it is the fault of Eidos or Funcom... but I'm betting both have a share of blame in the situation. Regardless, I don't care what happens to AoC as I won't ever be going to that game thanks to the ethics of both companies. Also, I'll be seriously questioning if I ever go back to AO (even after the grahpical upgrade).
As to you gamedever, you need to seriously remove the rose-colored glasses and see the situation for what it really is. Also, I believe that your eye-rolling problem is due to those glasses as well.
It sounds like to me you got screwed by go-gamer.com if anyone. When I pre-ordered it had all kinds of statements saying that it was limited . Sounds like you are directing your anger at the wrong people.
Side A, "i didnt get my early access that I payed for, because the company that I bought it from promised me (with Funcoms backing) that I would be guranteed early access just by purchasing the pre-order.
Side B, "you guys obviously did not read the forums and the official releases and yada yada..basically your wrong and were right funcom rules.
Lets get something straight. First of all none of you can speak on behalf of Funcom, i repeat NONE OF YOU. Yes you can say that you purchased a pre-order and they guranteed you early access. This may be the case, but Funcom never sent you an official email or had something listed in their game or on their site referencing this. You can put links up here all you want, I have read them all 15,000 times because this thread is kinda fun to read up on and catch people in their moments. All the links point to the same result, that Funcom never guranteed a specific number, and it has been listed several times that the early access was limited. Some of you say that they are hiding something. No I dont think so, it is probably more so that they want to get an initial player base to fix any early game launch problems. Do I know this for a fact? No but I have faith in the company because I will be using their product. What is the point to grief them when we all know you will be using the game at some point. And honestly what is 3 days? Personally dont come on here and qq because most of you waited untill the last minute to register and purchase the Early Access. By the way, open beta was not purchased, open beta was free. If you wanted to use the Fileplanet beta, then you had to register with Fileplanet, it had nothing to do with Funcom so keep your stories straight. And that (closed beta) was to level 13, the open beta was to level 80 fyi, because my friends were in the open beta and they got in free. So if all of you want to keep arguing about how and why you cant get in, thats fine please do so, your arguments ammuse me. But in the end nothing is going to change the fact that No, you will not get in 3 days earlier, and Funcom will not change that. No matter how much your all going to show links and qq on a forum.
Now, everyone smile, shake hands, as I look forward to playing with all of you on AOC PVE set server.
*edit* If there was a scam, and Funcom or Eidos was behind it, this situation would be blown way over this current forum, and would be in the news, because a marketing scam on a multi-billion dollar company is big. Just keep that in mind please before some of you start throwing out assumptions. Oh by the way im looking for a guild on that AOC pve server set, i think im going necro or Herald.

So, lets break this down once in for all.
