If you ask some of the people who have broke their NDAs about the game, and they are out there, you'll know that Darkfall isn't close to being released yet.
Source? Where are these people?
I've only seen one guy who claimed he was in beta and he was proved to be an impostor. He photoshopped loading screens etc. As far as I know, there hasn't been any credible NDA breaking which is why many people think the whole beta is a hoax.

Well lets look at this rationally. If we wait till AoC adds this feature, we will all have grandchildren. So waiting for Darkfall seems the better option. I dont like the devil I got when I bought a Funcom product and will not do so again.
If you ask some of the people who have broke their NDAs about the game, and they are out there, you'll know that Darkfall isn't close to being released yet. I like the idea of being able to train any class on a single character; however, Darkfall will fail in my eyes if they take the old Runescape route and allow a player who grind out all their stats to be a god. And while there may not be leveling, you still have to grind out you proficiencies with weapons, armor, etc to be good so the time sink is still there. On a side note, I don't know why people don't like the cap on players in AoC. 50 people per zone, and it may be bigger now that most of the bugs are worked out who really knows, allows the graphics to be where they are. Could you imagine the kind of lag you'd get if more than 100 people + mobs were in a zone doing spells. It be worse than sieging. And you could forget about activating DX10.
Someone else mentioned it, but I'd also like to see a source on someone actually in DF beta with knowledge of the game. I don't pretend to know how DF is going to play, but it at least looks interesting.
Regarding the limits on zones, I hate the instanced feel that AoC had (both the multiple instances of the same zone, and the need to load when moving between zones). The graphics they chose to go with led directly to that - in my opinion, the game would have been better with no instances and lesser graphics. That's just me, though - I always choose gameplay over graphics.
My prediction is that it will fall out of existence.
It can't happen. You can't implement full loot in a game that revolves around specialized items, skills, abilities, feats, and leveling. Why do you think it only worked in UO and Shadowbane?
It also has to be a game that allows you to solo pretty much anything. I don't know about you, but I'm not wasting the better part of a month putting together a few rare pieces or armor only to get ganked by 5 people and stripped of everything that I've worked for.
But why spend a month "putting togeather a few rare pieces or armoury" when you can loot it from someone in one minute instead?
Anyway, the OPs question is very weird. As if any DF fan would care about a PvP server in WoW, AoC, EQ2, LOTRO or any other themepark MMO. The DF followers are waiting for a sandbox MMO.
My prediction is that it will fall out of existence.
My prediction is that it won't matter to much.
DF haves no instances, ALOT more skills/spells. I mean ALOT.
The world is how many times the size of AoC?
You can build your own house and design it.
Mobs have a way better AI.
10.000 people on one server.
Actually ''aiming'' swords and spells.
Sea warfare, city building wich you can design yourself. ( build one in a mountain, in a large cave, underwater entrance etc. )
The sound system, hearing people yelling from far away, blinking of light on metal or other shimmering materials, so if you don't look out with sneaking up one someone, he might notice you.
It requires skill, using your environment, weather, or dark clothing for sneaking up on someone.
No levels, no uber epix omz0r gear.
Manual blocking.. and the list goes on.
Aoc have:
DX10
Massive siege battles 500 vs 500
Great trade skills
Formation features
NPC control
Hiving ( NPC sieging your guild city )
etc...
oh wait hmm it did not have all that at release ... dont believe everything you read in feature list ...

Erm isn't darkfall meant to be a skill based sandbox - where as Failcoms AoC is a class based incredibly linear themepark?
Attracts two different set of Fans - like comparing WoW to pre-nge SWG, or EVE to CoX.
Anyway we are waiting to see if Darkfall will impress, we already know AoC is on the slippy slopes to either becoming F2P or having the plug pulled.
the only thing that would make me stop playing would be if its not smooth and feels just crappy when moving or fighting etc and corpse loot doesent bother me just makes it more fun if you kill someone and if you die well you gotta start over if you want easymode go to wow already
Darkfall is a sandbox game AOC is not. DF has deep crafting...AOC does not. DF has ships individuals can sail....AOC does not.. AOC impact on DF....none. Full looting is a minimal part of what DF has to offer .

Im not sure I understand. I heard that the current build of AoC doesnt have all the features it is listing on the box.
Im sorry if i missed a release date but i dont follow the game that closely. Are they going to do an open beta soon for AoC?

Darkfall is (or at least they say it is) more than just a PvP loot game.
In Darkfall you can actually AIM with your bow. This is a very good feature. I'm so tired of the same old bow auto attack we have in AoC and other MMO's.
Darkfall has other really good features too. You should check them out. If they implement 50% of what they say they will, I'm happy.
I was spectical of whether DF was going to launch or not but after hearing from their US host provider that DF will launch in the US in 60 days, I'm much more assured that the long wait is finally over.
I really hope Darkfall will be that awesome PvP game AoC was supposed to be.

Well you can aim with the bow in AoC too so now try to use it against melee's and tell me how efficient is it.
AoC does not have auto attack, you probably meant targeting aka selecting you target when you use range bow/xbow/magic attacks.
p.s. Dont get me wrong I really hope DF turns out great .. following the game since 2005 ( not to mention we got guild beta invite in 2006 or 2007 that never happened )

Yes auto attack was maybe the wrong word. But what AoC has I don't consider aiming. You just select a target, push a button and arrow flies to target. No need to aim there. Directional attacks are not really aiming.
In Darkfall you actually have a crosshair like in a shooter game and you can shoot at any part of your enemy and enemies can dodge arrows. If you want to hit a distant target you have to aim over it's head etc. This is true aiming and I'm interested to see how it plays out.

Nothing will happen. With or without loot servers AOC is still Age of instances, it still has levels and you're still shoved into little boxes to do your siege warfare. Darkfall is a deep sandbox in a seamless world that supports far more people in a battle, AOC is but a shallow teaspoon.

No, you still don't understand. You can, if you so choose, zoom in to a crosshair view in AoC while using a bow, wherein it then employs an FPS system. The advantage in doing this is that you get a slight increase to bow range and damage when using this crosshair mode. The disadvantage is that, with a moving target, the arrow flight delay and lag means you will usually miss unless the target is right on top of you. Also in general missile ranges in AoC are so small that it's unlikely (without snares) you'll get more than one or two shots off before your enemy is in melee range with you. Similar to Oblivion, I guess you could say, though I didn't play that much so my recollection could be faulty.
Edit: But anyway, why the hell has anyone bothered to dredge this six month old thread up from the dead? We know that AoC doesn't have full loot PVP servers and never will, and the rest of the conversation is

Yes, you are right, I didn't know that you could do that in AoC. Thanks for the info. Ranger is the only class I didn't play that much. I didn't even finish Tortage with it because I found it to be the most boring character. I have to call my friend and go try this aiming thing, though I doubt it gives any good advantage since I haven't heard about it.

Uh, AoC isn't adding any PvP loot servers. The OP seems to have imagined that when he posted this 6 months ago, then someone necrod the thread up.
