So what happens to Darkfall when AoC adds PvP loot servers?

No, you still don't understand. You can, if you so choose, zoom in to a crosshair view in AoC while using a bow, wherein it then employs an FPS system. The advantage in doing this is that you get a slight increase to bow range and damage when using this crosshair mode. The disadvantage is that, with a moving target, the arrow flight delay and lag means you will usually miss unless the target is right on top of you. Also in general missile ranges in AoC are so small that it's unlikely (without snares) you'll get more than one or two shots off before your enemy is in melee range with you. Similar to Oblivion, I guess you could say, though I didn't play that much so my recollection could be faulty.

Yes, you are right, I didn't know that you could do that in AoC. Thanks for the info. Ranger is the only class I didn't play that much. I didn't even finish Tortage with it because I found it to be the most boring character. I have to call my friend and go try this aiming thing, though I doubt it gives any good advantage since I haven't heard about it.

I found a video they released before launch where you can see the crosshair

    www.youtube.com/watch

p.s. It's funny how on the video EE talks about the pvp xp system, which we got 7 months after this video was released. Also when talking about siege battle, he has changed his epic "Hundreds and hundreds.." to "Dozens.."

Heh... I ain't sayin' it's good, just that it's there. And in all seriousness, I can't imagine DF will have any better luck implementing FPS into their game than Conan did. Even with their simpler modeling, lag is going to be a major issue once numbers of players in one area begins to grow. If they'd bothered to actually beta before now, rather than just virtually beta'ing, they would know this too.

I agree 100%. If I look at things objectively, Darkfall is looking very suspicious. All that secrecy is never a good thing. When devs stay quiet, you know something bad is going to happen. I'm hoping DF will be a great game but you just never know. Sometimes you have so much hope in finding a good MMO that your IQ drops to 50.

I did the same thing with AoC. Signs of failure where there long before launch. I saw them all but for some reason chose to ignore them. I kept telling myself: "it's going to be a great game". After about 4 months when I was standing in Kheshatta looking at people ganking each other near rez point, I realized the state of AoC endgame and quit.

I guess I should go back to Guild Wars and stop lurking these forums trying to find that perfect game. DF might be the next big failure but I hope it keeps me busy for at least 1 month. Then I'm one step closer to Guild Wars 2 launch

Im sorry if i missed a release date but i dont follow the game that closely.  Are they going to do an open beta soon for AoC?

    lol ok

btw whats that www.darkfallonline.com/ link in your sig .. the site does not work.

p.s. Marking your posts now it will be funny to quote them once (if) DF is released in 2009.

The link in my sig works just fine.  Maybe you need to get a better internet connection, or possibly remove some spyware.

May be possible if you are currently playing AoC that they are having some problems with their beta client and you may have picked up a virus as well so you may want to check it out.

Thanks for marking my posts.  Im not sure where I said it is going to definitely release in 2008 or that delaying to 2009 would be a bad thing if thats what it needs.  We all know what happens when games release too early without their promised features...usually they lose almost all their subs and fire 70% of their staff.  So hopefully DF doesn't do that.

Anyways I aplogize if im a litle behind on the status of AoC...I look forward to the NDA being dropped and release of AoC because that dx10 sounds really good.

"If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos

Are you for real? Darkfall has no stupid class restrictions, it is purely skill based. That is rare and will attract alot of us old school MMORPG players.

I currently play AoC but even though it is a very pretty game it is also quite shallow. Three races, that are almost identical, a handful of classes and small, instanced zones. I doubt this game will last more than a couple of months for me.

Furthermore PvP loot servers in AoC will not work because ganking in this game is soooo easy to do and very hard to escape from. There are no escape spells and very few run buff type skills that last long enough for you to escape a ganking. As a result ganking is very common but since there is virtually no death penalty then that is fine. However add losing loot everytime you get ganked and those servers will be ghost servers after maybe a month.
